When I purchased my 2015 E 350 4matic a few weeks ago, I worked the illuminated led star in the deal. They had my car for several days thinking they had the wrong harness to hook it up but they discovered the had the correct one. I believe they haven't installed too many of these lights... My question is... My light does not illuminate very bright (you can barley tell that it is on). It there a way that I can adjust the illumination of the lights from behind the star? I installed one myself on my C180 and it's not that bright either. The problem is that the actual LED lights are tiny, you can see them being the star in the middle section. Perhaps you could buy another version with bigger lights or try turning up the voltage, but they're never going to be that bright.
So much for the installation video. We all would like to see it wired in. I myself am an auto technician, and have the ability to do it, but some other Benz owners would like to know how to do it themselves. Good install though. Can this be purchased from a Mercedes-Benz dealership? I've seen several aftermarket versions, but would prefer oem.

Wires just hook themselves up , you toss them anywhere in the engine compartment and close... VUALAH😼
It can be done in 20-30 minutes. He skipped over steps on purpose. You need a fuse tap. Looks like he is grounding it at the bottom which is more work and not necessary. What's unknown is if he has to drill out a hole for the red wire and rubber seal or Mercedes from newer cars on has this built in. Either way, I bet they charge two hours for this which is absurd.
Yup. I was recently quoted $1500 for this. I decided to let another tech do it outside of mercedes and it looks great.

I have it on my 2015 C300. It's pretty dim and it only works with the conditions of the ambient light is optimal. Not worth the price IMHO
For a “Dealership” install that’s that worst I’ve seen. Absolutely no information on wiring , power source etc. Ornamental lighting laws vary from state to state don’t get yourself an unnecessary ticket
Is your advise to have it linked to the driving lights, so the star is on all the time, or main night head lights

Scion did the illuminated emblems years before Mercedes-Benz, and they called it too rice. But now that Mercedes-Benz installed it into some of their cars, it's luxurious!

There must be a work around now. I just purchased a 2020 GLC with the front sensors without the illuminated star but the salesman said it could be added. When the star finally came in the installer at first said it wasn’t possible. I complained hard because I told them when I purchased the vehicle my last car had one and I needed my new to also have one, otherwise I’d buy the C Class already loaded. Anyway, long story short Mercedes does have an official work around.

Not sure but my aftermarket star is much brighter and 70% less. They wanted to charge me 1500 for a dimmer light. Nope.

Yup, the genuine star and the genuine setup is that the star is illuminated ONLY when you press your keyfob to unlock your car. Those that have the star illuminated when the headlights are on are those who have wired it differently in the fuse box under the hood (bonnet). This will expire their warranty by Mercedes if they are under the warranty period.
False - Installed by dealer before taking delivery in Canada on 2019 GLC Coupe - does not illuminate when locking or unlocking - only is on when headlights are on just like the video shows.
I have this part OEM, im in the UK, but it clearly says on the part that its north American market only. How it runs depends on how you wire it, if you wire it like Mercedes says to it turns off when the engine runs, but you can wire it to run with the engine on.

@@ismaelgvillegas6067 106, 113, 114 are spare fuse ports according to the fuse box diagram. I was going to go buy a fuse tap today and try the spare ports and see what happens lol
@@ismaelgvillegas6067 mercedes supplied a small fuse with the kit, so 123 or 124 are small fuse spares, it's raining here at the moment, but I will check as soon as it stops

Not available for Mercedeses who have distronic, you should mention that so people don't buy a Mercedes and find out that because of the distronic you can't have the illuminated Star.

Looks like a real "attention grabber" to me, sort of a light up target for the highway patrol, I like it but will pass on this one.

I think it’s really crappy it’s only offered on the low class Mercedes vehicles. I find it absurd not to be offered on the flagship of the 2 door roadsters such as the r231 SL series. Mercedes Benz you should be ashamed to withhold this from your customers who can afford to buy the best cars you offer. Not the subpar models that put Mercedes within reach of everyone.
