I remember reading an interview with Tuomas many years ago where he basically said that he has no issues with Tarja singing Nightwish songs.
Thank you very much for the reaction and Tuuli for the request. Tarja and Marko's chemistry in Nightwish 100%. Chemistry now 1000%.
And this is Tarja's band. Marko's only musician on stage is guitarist Tuomas Wäinölä.
BTW: I would also like to hear Tarja sing Storytime. And not only me. There have already been several AI versions, but none of them are very good and incomparable to the real Tarja

I don't think she can sing storytime without giving it a completely new atmosphere, maybe a darker one, a more definite one, less haunted, less enchanted, less playful.
@@holgerkraus6724 I don't know what it would look like, but I would like to see it. But I don't believe that Tarja would give it a less dark atmosphere, rather I think the opposite after her Dark Christmas, Witch Hunt and other songs. She loves to make dark music.

Just for fun I checked also the earlier version from end of an era. Both live version are excellent. Interestingly Marko looks healthier, and Tarja sounds better, in here - in my opinion. Emppu stands out as a great guitarist in the old one. Tarja has a little bit more bottom in her voise nowadays, which is no wonder after 20 years. These old songs are great bangers, and seeing them performing together once again is absolutely a great joy and a big plus. I personally prefer the new songs by Tarja and Marko as they really have their own fantastic style and they have evolved so much musically since the old era. But still, the original album of this song, "Once", is among my favorite albums of all time.

Interesting question really, is this a cover? Its the original singers, just not the original band. Would it be a cover if all the band members were replaced but its still the same named band? Its a ship of theseus question.
What does it matter? You can call it a cover, you can call it not a cover. Tarja has right to perform any Nightwish songs she took part in recording. Except Ghost Love Score.

No way marko hietala is not an original member he's just a bassist substitute of sami vänskä. Bassist player sami vänskä is an original member of Nightwish.

I'm sorry, but it's violently delusional to believe the bass player that joined them on their 4th album, is what made Nightwish, Nightwish. They stopped sounding like Nightwish as soon as Tarja left, and they have been a zombie group since 2005, only occasionally releasing good songs, sporadically.
There's literally nobody left in the band now, I can't even recognize half the people they have in there.

I believe Tarja and Marko are also credited to the songs as well as far as legality.
you don't need permission to sing songs. Now publishing said © work you do need permission . It is about crediting the source and their rights to royalty. DMCA is not settled law which makes things awkward.
No the record companies can not come after you for singing along on the radio.
Recording the songs on an album and publishing it will get the lawyers involved. so karaoke irl is safe. On a stream...well that is a T&C decision.
This site at a letter demanding a video be taken down will comply even if the one who filed the letter hasn't a leg to stand on.
