- This performance given at the Sage Gateshead by Cory Band under the direction of Robert Childs formed part of Cory's 2008 Brass in Concert programme which saw the reigning European Champions and World No.1 Ranked Band crowned Brass in Concert Champions for the first time in their history.
Here Louis Prima's Sing Sing Sing is arranged & edited by Dan Price & Barry Forgie providing a real feature for Cory's 2008 percussion team. Dave Danford leads the way on kit, before Alun Horgan, Simon Brittlebank & Gavin Pritchard join with some virtuoso bar stool playing!
Cory's winning Brass in Concert programme is featured in its entirety on the World of Brass DVD "Highlights from the 2008 Brass in Concert Championship and World of Brass in Concert" available at www.worldofbrass.com
3:00 "So what instrument do you play?"
"The chair."
Erm.. Stool lol :)
My music teacher is actually one of the guys playing the chair. Hes a percussionist but he was playing the chairs for that performance. Hes a really nice teacher too!
A piece of music that always brings a smile to my face, brilliant!
Funny thing is, my music teacher is one of the three guys playing the stool at 2:10. One of the best teachers ever.
Ah I can get that he is Good!
Usually music teachers with actual music experience are the best.
My music teacher right now plays bass at a lot of concerts Still while he is Doing the teaching, he is amazing
Sing, sing, sing is probably my favorite big band composition -- written by Louis Prima.
Takes a big drummer to fill those shoes.
must say whoever mastered this honestly did a great job 👍👍
I was just watching this with my mouth wide open lol
As a trombone player this is one of my favourite jazz tunes
Best stool players ever!! love the energy and musicianship, sounded great!!
AM GONNA GIVE HIM THE FROWNING OF A LIFETIME!
This is exceptional playing and entertainment - 5 stars in my book!
The chairs kind of make me think of the Beatles using Vacuum Cleaners and backwards running tape recorders and so many other things the people who worked at Apple saw them taking into recording studio. Love the song Sing, Sing, Sing.
Very nice drummer love it, love his first solo
Wow! Great show, I love seeing these wonderful groups perform such fun music.
Music never ages. Watching this in 2020!!!
A BUNCH of fine players!!!
好きなバンドです。いろんなバンドのsingsingsing聞いてますが、初めのドラムの音でそのバンドのすべてが感じ取れますね。私はこのバンドをイチ押しします。気持ちよく聞けます。ありがとう。
Brilliant rendition.
Fantastic !
Love this vid, every once in awhile I gotta watch it. love the stool trio, fun fun fun.
the Tom Cruise's solo was good!
My favourite Cory Band video ever!!!
Love the soprano cornet at 2.05
Wow. My favourite dance band number of all time, and the first time I've come across this rendition, which is very faithful to the original. Excellent
Top Performance!
すごいカッコいい....
金管編成のもとても良いですねええ!!
演奏してみたいですすす!!✨
Great playing Go Man Go
Powerful rendition, well played by all - thank you!
normally I'd rather ram knitting needles throuh my ears than hear a brass band trying to swing, but actually, cory, well done.
and love the drummer's black sticks, nice touch.
Frälsningsarmén har redan tagit den bästa musiken från . Kom ihåg den Helige Ande styr nu. OCHTÄNK alla por People now. Halleluja we sjunger i rätt TONART för alla människor i hela världen. AMEN THANK JESUS.KRISTUS TANK UA-cam ^* SOLIE DEO GLORIA

Vraiment excellent !!!
Que du bonheur, merci !
Very powerful highlight between 3:39 - 3:55.
We be jammin'!
nice
Gene Krupa and Benny Goodman would be proud!
From 2:10, imitation is the highest form of flattery. I hope they sent the Blast! crew a cut of the take.
it is very beautifull
I say again for the world.
Solei deo gloria
great #SEMPERFIDELIS1888 #QUAPATETORBIS #JEMAINTENDRAI ♫♪ great ♫♪♫♪♫♪☺ BRAVISSIMO #BISBIS #BRASSMOREBRASS #BRASS 🎶🎵🎼 great music! a well tuned ensemble that sounds like an organ ! Fabulous banding! Compliments! #SEMPERFI #QPO #JMD
A very good rendition. The only versions I enjoyed more were Benny Goodman's and the marching version by Kyoto Tachibana SHS band. Very good overall.
You can not find better in the would. Thank you Jesus Christ Messias solie deo gloria
Drammer is very good
My music teacher is one of the people playing percussion on a chair
No lo hicieron nada mal. tuvieron ritmo
Probably a first time that a band treasurer got the bill for three new instruments from Ikea.
Halleluja solie deo gloria
#SEMPER FI #QPO #JMD🎵🎼🎼🎶🎵🥁🎺👌👌🙏🙏🎺
Pitch accuracy=good. Hard to find any better.........These are GOOD musicians. Too many people who try to play this stuff are just Charlie Tuna wannabes.......(The tuna fish with a French beret)
where can i get that notes? the one that is published is actually about 2 pitches deeper and has some slight changes compared to this version
We play this in band they sound better tho prob cuz they been doing this for a long time first football combing in a week
Chair solo.
The chair drumming part is a copy paste of a Top Secret Drum Corps's old show :p
I believe Blast! performed it a little earlier.
And they copied it too. How about that.
How do you write the Drum part? I understand the other instruments , or does the Drummer just listen to a Benny Goodman recording ?
As Michelle Fong suggests, the drum part is improvised. A part is written, but it amounts to little more than a chart of stops, starts and dynamics, and an approximate guide to overall rhythm and position (bar No). The drum part would be inappropriate, and boring in the extreme if played as written. To produce an attractive solo, the drummer will probably ad lib on first run-through, then revise and refine from one rehearsal to the next. S/he will also likely develop and arrange the solo at home. Unless his/her memory is much better mine, s/he may well also write out her own part, at least in skeleton form. By the way, it isn't just jazz parts or solos that need the player to develop and improve what is written. Many parts are intentionally left by the arranger to the drummer. Others are poorly written by brass players. Some, but rather few, are good to play as written. There is much misunderstanding of this in the brass band world. Naive beliefs include that if it isn't played verbatim then it's wrong and incompetent, and that drum kit is easy. If you are a brass player who thinks either of those things, I strongly suggest that you try it
Хто знає де можна взяти ноти цього твору?
Kyoto Tachibana still the best
WTF is this? A brithish brass band with a decent kit player? Big claps! But now im halfway in, what's his general rush? But ok, decent playing. *Posted before the stools was in play

Cuphead
not quite my tempo
carlos cruz good
your boring then
that some nice drum playing by that guy on drum kit and them 3 playing the wooden stools are good and the brass band too and that's coming from a drummer
The cornet players annoy me so much. They're holding it like it's heavy. Play euphonium in marching band for at least a year, then hold your cornet...
Symphony No. 417 This is the best brass band on the planet (arguably) and your concerned about how they hold their cornets??? laughable
Symphony No. 417 Realize that in a concert setting your instrumental carriage is not supposed to be the same as in a marching ensemble.
Why do you honestly care?
I'm sorry one of the top brass bands in the world doesn't meet your high school marching band's standards. Perhaps you could help them out with some pointers after their next championship.
Bizzle usually in a concert setting you hold your trumpet/ cornet below level so you don’t stick out and overwhelm the sound of the ensemble because this isn’t marching band and where trumpets need to blast over everyone
would someone kindly direct me to brass band that includes the singer if such band exists.

Please please don't try to play swing or jazz. Painfull. I am a Brass Band lover and gave played in championship section bands and this just proves my point. Stiff. Jazz and swing is different. Sorry guys I love Cory band but please just stick to what you are good at. It is not this.
This isn't a bad effort. There's a recording of the US army band doing this and it's much more regimented.
Barry Forgie literally coached them on the style of this piece, you mouthbreather. Stay away from bands, we don't want you.
