Yeah that last part, with Saint-14 was pretty mind blowing at the time. The idea that, trapped in the Infinite Forest, Saint fought for an incredibly long time and defeated thousands upon thousands of Vex by himself and even fought when his light was stolen from him. He beat the Vex so badly they built him a shrine after killing him.
I love how consistently impressed you guys are at the Hunter's Knife Trick melee. If you remember back in the Red War, Failsafe got stuck in the Vex Network and said she met someone who's been there for a very long time and that he showed her many possibilities the vex had for the system. She likely met Osiris and that was a hint to this DLC. Saint-14 went into the Forest and killed thousands upon thousands of Vex, even when he lost his light he fought and killed hordes of them on his own. To think he was so good at it that the Vex, who see every other living being as completely inferior, built a fucking Memorial for him and laid him to rest is insane. Most guardians name their ghosts, they arent always actual characters that participate in the story like Sagira or Glint (Who you'll meet later) so you never hear most of them but they are referenced in Lore.
“I always hoped you’d turn out like Saint. I wasn’t disappointed.” Considering what you’ve heard about Saint already from the lore, that’s saying a lot there
3:27 I like the Curse of Osiris DLC explains the motive of the VEX, timetravaling calculators that want to outlast every single race in the universe. Their only obstacles are the Traveler and the Darkness. To them, the Traveler defies logic and brings chaos. The Darkness is Logic but is currently a more powerful threat to the VEX directly.
The next expansion is from the Warmind, one of my favorites since I've always liked how Bungie deals with AI. Many did not like some of the gameplay decisions, but there was an easteregg that indicated coordinates in real life and they took a precious souvenir... in case you want to look for it
Yes, most Ghosts are named. Saint's ghost is named Geppetto, Cayde's was Sundance, Zavala's is Targe, I can't properly spell Ikora's but it's something like Ophiculus, Crow's ghost was called Pulled Pork for a long time, but got renamed to Glint, etc. etc.
Almost every Guardian has named their Ghost, but your player character just calls theirs "Ghost." Fun fact, there is a Ghost out there named "Yurghost" because he told his Guardian "I am your ghost" and the Guardian misunderstood what he said. Also in the lore there is a Ghost named Hunter who works with a Hunter named Ghost. Very confusing.
What you get for that final quest with Saint-14 is his shotgun, "Perfect Paradox". The lore on it states that Saint received it from a guardian he would later bequeath it to. And our Guardian is the one who received it just now. Which means that someday WE would be the ones to give him the "Perfect Paradox". Needless to say, players were excited about this notion. Will it happen? Has it happened? Good question. Keep watching to find out!
I love that there is a lore tab, that was added in the latest season, which has characters speaking about Brother Vance and Osiris has no idea who he is.
In the future when you have watched the lore, you guys should also check out the raids themselves. Not the full raids since they are long, i moreso refer to the important encounters like final bosses or the dialogue and lore within.
One thing I wish Bungie touched on was what happened to Guardians who weren’t in the Last City when the light was cut off by Ghaul. Like what happened to Osiris. What also really sucks is that Bungie removed this content from the game, the strike was really cool and they removed it and haven’t bothered to add it back.
It’s not that they haven’t bothered. It’s the fact the game literally would not function correctly. If you saw in the red war cutscenes video there was a section of an adventure mission where the ghost was “talking” but there was no audio. Take that, apply that to almost every adventure somewhere at seemingly random. Missions objectives themselves would not update at random either. It gets worse, collectible weapons would even with an empty inventory be sent to post master or just straight up wouldn’t be received. Terrain would randomly lose collision in the lost sectors or strike checkpoints would just be non existent. Bosses would de-spawn mid fight and not show up again and you would have to restart. This applies to everything they removed. For good reason. TLDR: game spaghetti code broke game often it hindered your basic ability to play and understand what’s happening.
Ah yes, Curse of Osiris. The lowest point in destiny’s history. The game was pretty much on the brink of being shut down permanently. They managed to save themselves with Forsaken.
6:26 If you don't know, Osiris was Exiled for promoting the idea that to defeat Darkness we have to use Darkness. Basically, fight fire with fire. Back then, people believed that Darkness would corrupt you.
I once had a cat named kitty. Also in the lore there’s a guardian and a ghost, the guardian’s name is ghost and the ghosts name is Tommy. They aren’t relevant to anything it’s just a little snippet of world-building we get from an item description
The actual Vex are the jizz-like acidic white stuff (radiolorian fluid) in their robo-skeletons, they aren't TRUE machines, more like super-advanced amoeba with hive-mind consciousness like Tyranids that create metallic shells for themselves. They're like the Hunters in Halo fittingly since this is Bungie. They basically RUN time as a concept, they don't just travel through it they simulate it using machine worlds like Mercury to achieve a world-state where only the Vex exist. This fits into a wider concept introduced more recently called the "Final Shape" which coincidentally is also the name for the final expansion coming for this era of Destiny 2, but you'll see when you get to more recent seasons/expansions.
Destiny 2 is awesome and I really believe and love that you are continuing with it. However, after watching your Transformers War/Fall of Cybertron trailer reactions, I realized that you HAVE to react to the game story. To this day, it is regarded as having one of the best Transformers stories ever created in the history of the franchise, and it is a completely new, gritty, dark, and grounded face to the franchise you’ve never seen before. Cannot recommend it enough.
Fun fact this is considered arguably the worst expansion the franchise has ever seen. So its only up from here, personally I think Curse of Osiris is solid enough, especially if you're just in it for the story and lore. There's a lot of cool little fun stuff in here for all the characters, Osiris is very interesting character as he develops, and whole expansion actually sets up a lot of future plotlines. Cant wait till you get to some of the future stuff, there are some expansions and seasons that are extremely good, and once you see the larger plot coming together its really fun.
It's so sad seeing these cutscenes knowing I'll never again be able to play this content despite having paid full price for it. Then again I stopped playing Destiny 2 altogether because they deleted all the content I paid for so... meh.

On a rooftop overlooking an empty, tree-lined plaza, [Unknown Person] and Osiris sit in contemplative silence. They are making time for one another in the margins of their lives, pushing responsibilities aside as much as they can. "So, is she doing any better?" Osiris asks, breaking several minutes of peaceful silence. "Sloane," he clarifies. "Every day is small progress," [Unknown Person] explains. "And even small progress is something to be proud of." Osiris nods, watching the glittering lights in the distance. "It's nothing short of a miracle that she survived all that time on Titan. A portion of Asher Mir also seems to have survived his dive into the Pyramidion. Don't lose hope in the darkness," he says, joining his hand with [Unknown Person]'s. "Yes. This is weird timing I was just thinking of the Curse of Osiris era so here's a fun fact, this and the DLC scter it were so disappointing and drove the community to such apathy that Destiny got 5 weeks away from shutting down before the golden child Forsaken released
This dlc is considered the worst expansion to Destiny 2 by the majority of the community. It still has some good aspects but yeah. Speaking of Destiny, its currently not in a good place right now in terms of the community-Bungie relationship, lots of tension due to frequent problems that have been yet to be properly fixed or even addressed, chief among them being the unacceptably frequent server instability that has been happening for over the past few months. However, the story and lore remain excellent, and I'm glad you're exploring that aspect. When you reach Shadowkeep, thats when the main story really kicks off in terms of the overarching story of the "Light and Dark saga". Not to say that Forsaken wasnt a great story, it was, but it was just kinda its own chapter.
Even though Curse of Osiris had many issues and negative impact on the destiny 2 it had its moments but it was very bad i took two years of hiatus from the game cause this expansion
