Never Forget to Close Your Garage Door: Ultimate DIY Alert System!

It's the worst feeling in the world - going to the garage in the morning, and knowing that you've left the garage open all night long.
The solution displays a garage open/close icon on a DAKBoard by using Vegetronix WiFI hub connected to a proximity sensor. The proximity detects the if the garage door is open or closed. They VegeHub WiFi Hub reads the sensor, and passes the info on to a server on a raspberry pi, which in turn displays the appropriate icon on the DAKBoard.

i use vege's with a custom webhook into my local NodeRed+mqtt I see the status of my liquid sensors as well as my own version of the proximity sensor. HA can read the data from the mqtt and display how ever you wish.

Did you considered scenarios where the crush protection kicks in?
I know those are rare but I'm curious.
