    The Walmart I used to work at had a fire alarm system sounding just like that. It was an addressable Fire-Lite MS-9600UDLS system, with SpectrAlert Advance horn/strobes on Code-3. I remember in the storeroom/receiving/maintenance area, it sure was loud and obnoxious, but in the break room it wasn't as bad, even with a horn/strobe installed right in there (maybe it was set on "low" volume?)

      wileyk209zback cool I think it's creepy to have fire drills in buildings with big ceilings like Walmart

    • @GaryBeltz
      @GaryBeltz 7 років тому +3

      They don't do drills per se Emilio Melendez they will however, do tests every so often. Usually the alarm company will have an employee get on the PA and say something like "Attention Walmart customers and associates! We are conducting a sprinkler and fire alarm test, please disregard any fire alarms heard until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience. THIS IS ONLY A TEST!"

      That's called a fire alarm Announciator. It's a fire lite Ann-80. And the pull is a fire lite BG-12LX

    • @UltimateManager
      @UltimateManager 5 років тому +2

      No.. If you pause the video at 0:36 that clearly the green LED means that the security system is ready to arm. And that green display on a white housing thats the ADT/honeywell/ademco 6160/6160v security keypad not a fire alarm keypad. Now the ann-80 has a red housing and its clearly visible toward the end

      They have to considering the walls in a freezer are a few feet thick in some instances. Cell phones don't always get reception in their either. They were probably installed to make sure that anyone in the freezer is able to hear it should the system go off.

    • @armorsecsys
      @armorsecsys  9 років тому +2

      that valve you see me open is supposed to simulate 1 sprinkler head open. When you have just 1 head open, that's about the amount of water that would be coming out. when you see people testing and more water comes out, they are using a normal valve to open it all the way. this new valve actually tests to make sure the flow switch activate with low flow within the allotted time. if you turn the valve on full blast, more water is flowing so the sprinkler flow would activate quicker.

    We have the very same unit that was, installed last year at Lowes Foods in Garner, NC. Let me tell you, it's fing loud that it rips everyone elses ears off including mine. Not only that, but it scares the living hell out of my co-workers too as well. We've had our yearly fire alarm testing almost 3 weeks ago on a Thursday morning, the technician guys were there (very kind lads) that took their time to understand my Autism Aspburger disability. To tell you the truth, I couldn't always handle any loud certain noises like the big fire alarm systems. I'm a 40 year old woman with a disability, it's very hard for me to work with loud noises etc. I can handle a smoke detector so, that's not a problem me! Anyways, great work on your video!!!!!! Is the purpose of the waterflow zone specifically for that test valve? If not, what would be a real alarm scenario triggered by water flow?

    • @boginator55
      @boginator55 8 років тому +2

      If a sprinkler somewhere in the building activated in response to a fire, water would flow in the sprinkler system. Thus when a "waterflow" detector activates, the fire alarm panel reads this as a sprinkler has activated to suppress a fire somewhere in the building.

    • @VerifiedNubTM
      @VerifiedNubTM 7 років тому +2

      There is really no difference. They can be more visible and or people have pictures or something on the wall that they don't want a fire alarm to mess up.

    • @Thebustermann
      @Thebustermann 6 років тому +1

      The drain is actually a test cock, that triggers the alarm after water flow is detected. Or can also be used to drain the system down when performing maintenance, but most sprinkler systems remain charged ready for use. As for strobes on the ceiling, this is more common in the US. Not the UK.

      He's testing the flow switch for the sprinkler system. The switch has a delay timer (up to 90 seconds) to avoid false alarms from water surges and so on. If you watch in the video once the alarms sound after he goes back inside you can see him turn the test/inspect switch. It's required that once a year the sprinkler systems are checked for pressure and flushed out.

      System sensor notification appliances are cheaper, more reliable, and easier to install than Simplex though. Simplex true alerts tend to have horn inductors that fail and they require a special junction box from simplex. However, you can mount simplex, EST, and Wheelock notification appliances in a standard junction box.
