- This is the only UA-cam review of Fiji Airways B737-700. I love strange routings, so this little weekly flight from Hawaii to Fiji via Kiritimati Island in the country of Kiribati was a no brainer! As usual, the Air Fiji crew were great fun, friendly and the best in the Pacific!

So much memories! I was a Training Captain at Fiji Airways! I actually trained Captain Nambiar when he joined Fiji Airways! I’ve also trained and checked First Officer Keil! Both are awesome pilots. I miss Fiji and Fiji Airways. Hope to return to this beautiful place someday! Take care all!

I flew with Fiji Airways in 1976, when it was known as Air Pacific, from Nadi to Port Vila. The equipment was a BAC 1-11. The flight was lightly loaded and my family (wife and three children) and I could sit where we liked except for take off and landing when the cabin crew asked us to move to the rear seats to help with the trim. That particular 'plane is now in the UK at a museum.
The crew on this flight were so friendly. Lovely flight!
Nice work! Wananavu! (= "Excellent!" in Fijian) That was the last flight of (Gentleman Aviator) Captain Ajith Nambiar (who was once a pilot in the Indian Air Force). First Officer is one of the Coolest Cats in the South Pacific - Wade Keil from Samoa.

You can understand why planes need to go through a rigorous strict certification process before being sold to different airline companies. Landing takes a toll on the body structure. Awesome video.
Fiji Airways is my favourite airline mostly because of the great cabin crew

Fun fact: Kiritimati is an entire calendar day ahead of Hawaii, Hawaii uses UTC-10 and Kiritimati uses UTC+14

Excellent. I believe this is the only video of this flight ever on UA-cam! I can see its a B737-700, the only B737-700 in the Fiji Airways fleet, the rest of the Boeings are B737-800s.

As an Australian can I just point out at the start Fiji is Thousands of either distance measurements used. Fiji, a Pacific Island, is Northeast of Australia while Christmas Island, an Island in the Indian Ocean, is actually Northwest of Australia almost directly north of the Cocas Keeling Islands and South of the Indonesian island of Java.
The Christmas island you're talking about is totally different from Kiritimati Island. The Christmas island he's talking about is in the pacific ocean in Kiribati territory. I don't even know why some people call it Christmas island (Kiritimati) when that name has already been taken by the Christmas Island in Australian territory.
@@deezal4588 kiritimati is pronounced as "christmas", very confusing but that's why the Airport code "CXI" is used indicating its actually the kiribati one...

Nice video. Tried Fiji Airways twice and love their service. Looking forward to viewing your video of flying on their A350.
You could observe a new day or new year twice on kiritimati Island and on Hawaii. For example on December 30th you travel to Hawaii then fly from Hawaii to Kiritimati so it's the 31st December in Kiritimati and stay there until shortly after it is midnight on 1st January there then you travel to Hawaii and it is the early morning on 31st December in Hawaii and you stay there until after midnight on 1st January there. So you observed new year's day twice. Once in kirtimati and once in Hawaii.
Impressive and guess what they are upgrading Oneworld Alliance membership from connect to a full one. Which means you should be able to do the following routing all the way on B737s EWR/JFK-PER on AA/AS🇺🇲 FJ QF🇦🇺. In fact they used to go with this name air Pacific
