The trick is to get the old E Series lenses when you want to have a very small system. Optically they were mostly the same than the more expensive Nikkor versions, but (like the 50mm 1.8 E) sometimes only had single coating, therefore making them a bit more sensitive to flare and low contrast. I love my 1st gen. 50mm 1.8/E Series (build between 1977 and 81) on also an K&F Adapter on my X-E2s. Very small, focus runs still smooth and with focus peaking you are able to get things quickly framed...
Great idea, looks lots of fun. I have ordered a K&F adapter so I can use my Nikon F-Mount lenses on my newly acquired Fuji X-S10. Can't wait to give it a try.
My favorite adaption is the Voightlander 58mm f/1.4 in Nikon mount. I have the latest one, looks like a classic Nikkor. Mounted on my Fujis it gives a very close alternative to the Fujifilm 56mm, albeit with manual focus and with the loss of a fraction of a stop. I have several 50mm Ai/Ai-s Nikkors, but that Voightlander renders the best.
Using a classic 50mm f1.8 canon fd lens on my x-t20 with acros is my absolute favorite for story telling pictures. So i really know what your feeling! Great video!
I can't wait for my X-T3 to arrive with the Nikon adapter. I've been using my nikon lenses adapted to a Sony A6000, but i really want the dials and look from the Fuji like my olds Nikkormat FT and Olympus OM-1. Thanks for the review Samwell Tarly 😃💪
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost my password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Callan Bentlee i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Just prior December 2020 i got the Fringer adapter for most Nikon lenses. It's autofocus and works perfectly well. Before i got the Fringer adapter for Canon lenses.
For years, I waited patiently for Nikon to produce a full-frame digital camera that accepted my large inventory of Nikkor lenses. Eventually, I got tired of waiting and purchased a Fuji X-Pro1 to use temporarily. My favorite lens kit I used with my 35mm Nikon film SLR was: 24mm f/2 35mm f/1.4 85mm f/1.4 I tired using an adapter to mount the followng lenses from my Nikkor lens inventory on my APS-C Fuji X-Pro to duplicate my favorite full-frame lens kit: 16mm f/2.8 fisheye 24mm f/2 55mm f/3.5 macro However, I ran into a big problem of not being able to quickly, consistently, and accurately focus my Nikkor lenses on my Fuji X camera. Eventually, I solved the focusing problem by purchasing the following Fuji auto focus lenses: 16mm f/1.4 23mm f/1.4 56mm f/1.2
Fun fact..most of my full manual pictures are better than those taken with full af-capable lenses. So to be slowed down, especially regarding photography, does not always have to be a disatvantage.
When calculate focal length times crop factor, the same applys for the maximum aperture as well, in terms of depth of field. So 50mm f1.8 lens becomes 75mm f2.7 on a 1.5 crop factor camera. It is not 85mm f1.8 as you stated. I used to own 50mm f1.4 AI-S lens for a long time and I loved it!
I've been heavily invested in the Nikon system of lenses as well as their film and DSLR cameras, but I just can't make the jump to Nikon's mirrorless. I grabbed an adapter for my Sony a6000 in hopes of wedding the old lenses with new tech, but as you mentioned the tactile dials and experience just wasnt there which is why I'm considering an XT-3 or something more similar to my Nikon F3.
Hi Jon. Which adapter will be the best? I have a vintage nikon 55mm 3.5 non AI and I want to use it with xt2 to scan negatives, what is the best adapter? Irek
NEED HELP...... I am trying to use Konica 52mm f1.8 on my Fuji XT-2 with an adaptor, can't focus especially when wide open? it working as more of macro lens focus on infinity.
do you like more 50mm NIKON than 56mm FUJI ?? i ask because i wanna 55mm 1.2 nikon but i have fraid that the texture can change when u look a video with another lens of fuji like a 35mm f\2.
@@JonSparkman and i’m just curious,, if i have an old nikon that has a bit of mold inside, and i use the lens adapter and the nikon lens attaching to my fujifilm camera, will it infect my fuji camera? will the mold spread inside?
at a difference of a couple hundred dollars the Nikkor f/1.4 Ai-S is not that much different. Yes it has that extra 2/3 stop of light and Slight more bokeh than the f/1.8 Ai-S but once you get to f/2 it's all equal. Some say the f/1.8 performs much better in that range and I have to agree.

Hi! Can you adjust the aperture while using the adapter?

I just bought an X-pro 2 coming from shooting only film. I have a Nikkor S ai 50 1.4 that I can’t wait to try.

This is exactly what i have and am thinking about getting the xt3 with nikon adapter. Did you finally get it and how is it?
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account?

@Callan Bentlee it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my ass !

Nice video. I have been using my old Nikon AI lenses with my xt3 but find that focus peaking is often slow, difficult, and not so accurate.
Greetings from Shrewsbury 👋 keep up the good work 💪

Yes, the f3 is a fantastic camera!
Hi Jon, thanks so much lovely video. A question for you will I loose stops and if so how many? Thanks.
can I use this adaptor for the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 E FL ED VR Autofocus Lens {77} with Tripod Foot on my XT-4?
Hi Jon. Which adapter will be the best? I have a vintage nikon 55mm 3.5 non AI and I want to use it with xt2 to scan negatives, what is the best adapter? Irek
What's you secret to keeping an uncluttered desk?
Just have a really big desk
Outstanding presentation. Stay well and be safe.
Thanks Ed, really means a lot.
Love this dude, audio is on point too, great job. 👏🏽
so how can you judge the photo accurately focus?
Using highlight focus peaking
Спасибо. Я тоже решил поставить на свой fujifilm объектив NIkon. Thanks from Russia 🇷🇺.
Great video thanks
hi! how much does the lens with adapter weigh together?
NEED HELP...... I am trying to use Konica 52mm f1.8 on my Fuji XT-2 with an adaptor, can't focus especially when wide open? it working as more of macro lens focus on infinity.
It sounds like the adapter isn’t the right one for the job, and hasn’t had the right distance to the sensor.
The lens Sharp?
Quite sharp - at around f2.8 should be useable for most things easily.
do you like more 50mm NIKON than 56mm FUJI ?? i ask because i wanna 55mm 1.2 nikon but i have fraid that the texture can change when u look a video with another lens of fuji like a 35mm f\2.
The Fujifilm 56mm 1.2 is a much, much better lens for accuracy and quality. But it can be 10x more expensive than using an old lens and converter.
is it difficult without autofocus? or using it manual a bit hassle? and if u combine it with a fujifilm with an image stabilization would it work?
You can use an in body stabilised camera with this and it will work
@@JonSparkman and i’m just curious,, if i have an old nikon that has a bit of mold inside, and i use the lens adapter and the nikon lens attaching to my fujifilm camera, will it infect my fuji camera? will the mold spread inside?
No it won’t but it will spread to other camera lens glass so I would keep it separate from other lenses you own
@@JonSparkman noted, thank you!
Sweet, looking forward to watching your analogue series 👌👍

Yeah you’re right - they’re just fanciful things to have one day. The 1.8 does all the jobs just fine
Got my k&f adaptor, but it doesnt work with my nikon 50 1.8D lens. Lens kind of falling off
If you have a G series lens it will not work. Only F mount
does the adapter have an apature control ring on it ?
No sorry
Thank you
its more like 75mm
nice video :)
Total Walter of time storryger to say
50 x 1.5 = 75
Quality not Quantity
sorry, so much talk for just a few images....
The review was more about user experience and use type rather than my portfolio
