Man. I have the same takumar 3.5 on my xpro2 and I love it. There’s nothing that lens can’t do. It’s glued to my camera 95% of the time. Only to be briefly replaced by a canon 100mm 2.8.
When Ken speaks you know its FACTS!
@@olawalesanni2872 😂😂😂
quick question, I guess I do have to buy adapters right? if so, which ones would you recommend.?
@@luisleal1636 You're correct. I really like the Fotodiox adapters.
@@kennethmitchell2478 thanks Kenneth, I am just entering in this world.
Good stuff, man.
The 35/3.5 Super-Tak is something special. Micro-contrast for days. Have used it for years, digital and film. 100%
Between Takumars and Hexanon, there's really little-to-no reason to look elsewhere or spend more money. Nikkors are great but they still have a modern rep and that makes them catch popularity fire much more easily.
For 50s (or even 55mm or 57mm) ... really, *ALL* of the fast-fifty manual lenses from all the makers are fantastic; Nikkor, Pentax, Takumar, Rokkor, Hexanon etc etc. They're all incredible almost without exception. But my biggest suggestion (to others, clearly not to you lol) is look into Hexanons and Takumars.
Thank you for explaining why I can't find a wide-angle vintage lens! I have been wondering!
Keep up the great work man you’re crushing it. Content is top notch
Thanks man I really appreciate you watching this channel! Can’t wait to make more content for you!
@@olawalesanni2872 we appreciate you!
Great lenses, the nikkor 50mm 1.8 is my favourite lens ever! If you ever find the nikkor 20mm 3.5 please try it out, I think you might love it, it would really fit your style! Take care!
Man, again a beautiful video. Thanks so much for such quality content. Love it.
My pleasure Onur!
I really like the 35 mm Takumars as well. I chose the F2 version only because it’s kind of soft and dreaming at F2, which is what I wanted. It’s nice to have two lenses in one. You can use as well as it sharpens up by 2.8. It’s more money but certainly worth the cost. The 50 1.8 is an excellent choice as I used that lens for shooting weddings. Thanks for sharing your thoughts regards, Gerry.
Great photography, Olawale. I agree with your lens recommendations.
Hey, glad I found you. What adapter can you recommend for Fuji xt3? M 42?
One of my favorite lenses of all time is the 24 mm f2.8 Nikkor (Nikon F Mount) oldie but goodie, sooo sharp and amazing color rendition
i would recommend the minolta NMD (MD III) 50 1.4 on fuji. trust me you will love the color and sharpness. its also not very huge. in fact its one of the smallest size 50mm out there (49mm filter). i use it on my xt10 and i love the outcome each time i shoot, especially night potraits
another quite budget 24mm i got was the minolta NMD (MDIII) 24 2.8 as well. works great on my XT10
What adapter you use?
I had the MND Rokkor 24mm f/2.8 for awhile.
I sold it, and that was a big mistake.
@@PaulStrople hope you get back another copy soon. i kept mine until now. just for collection
Awesome video, ill think about getting some of those cheeper options. I got the xt2 and im loving it. I commented before about it.
Your advice is amazing :)
Thanks Lunatiik! I’m happy to hear that you’ve found a camera that you enjoy! (:
@@olawalesanni2872 Thanks Olawale! I really like your vintage photography style. I'll try the Takumar a try and see how it goes.
I love vintage lenses which I use on my XT2. I've got the Pentax 50mm f1.7 (my favourite, so sharp), a mint Minolta 58mm f1.4 (equivalent 87mm f2.2 on my XT2) , a Pentax M 50mm f1.4 macro, and the Konica Hexanon AR 40mm F1.8 Pancake (beautiful colours).
Hi can you use the pentax on the fuji xt2?
@@aziatik Yes, but you need a Pentax to Fuji X adapter. For example, for the Pentax 50mm f1.7 you need a PK-FX adapter. Remember you will only have manual focus, but you can use the focus highlight facility on the Fuji camera to quickly find focus.
While I mostly use my native fuji lenses I do enjoy using my helios 44m and Super-Takumar 135mm f3.5. I'm actually looking at a couple of takumar lenses and Minolta lenses. Vintage lenses are fun and still, surprisingly hold up well.
Awesome list and recommendations! Will keep an eye open for those.
Great finds! Most videos just talk about Helios for vintage, which is great, but it's cool to see some fresh blood!
lets keep it going!
I love the tamron i always change the adaptall to fd or om and use adapters
As far as a 50mm I prefer the Olympus Zuiko series in the 1.4, the 1.4 is a bit soft wide open but very dreamy, stopped down even at F2 it is laser sharp! I use the G Zuiko radioactive early edition and wow they are killer. However, sometimes their price dictates such, even though they are still affordable!
Great review and beautiful shots! Thank you!
hey bro hope you are doing well, i bought a X-t2 after watching how passionate you were about it and love it! please do an update video on where you are with your photography.
I'm so glad your video came up on my suggested feed, I also use Fujifilm X trans cameras and have both the Nikon and M42 convertors. I have the Fuji primes 16, 23, 27, 35 and 50, but also have a lot of vintage and third party lenses. They all have their own qualities and I need to use them more often, I will subscribe and follow from across the pond in the UK
I have been playing with M42 lenses lately and I have had some older EF mount canon lenses for years when my grandfather handed down his EOS Rebel to me.
Which adaptor do you use for the vintage lenses?
I too am a big fan of the Super-Takumar 35mm f3.5. I rarely find a need to shoot above f4. My preferred range is 50mm and I would like to suggest vintage Cosina lenses. Cosina, as you may know, does a lot of manufacturing for other companies including Zeiss and Voigtlander. I just picked up a 50mm f1.7 M42 Cosina lens for about $45 which is a well-made piece of metal and glass.
Hell yes! Great video dude!
Thank you for such delicious positive vibes! Love it. ❤👍
Where have you been? I just discovered you and subbed
My favorite vintage lens for my XT 20 is a 28mm f2.5 Minolta rokkor it's sharp and has those Minolta colors I bought a near mint one for $75
Are these particular takumars radioactive?
I have the Nikon and it is a beautiful lens. I will have to look into the Tamron.
Thank you for this video, Olawale!
Your welcome!
Such dope videos - loving the channel
420th like, let’s gooo. great stuff man
nice reviews and pics mate
Great video Olawale. Thank you!
Any idea where I can buy these lenses , I’ve looked everywhere but can’t find them.
nice thanks. what's the mount adaptor you use for these lenses?
All takumars are amazing. I have all those you mentioned; Nikkor, Tamron...Super takumar is the s&*%*T
What mount is that Nikkor lens?
I'll keep an eye out for your recommendations. Thanks!
your welcome bro :)
please can u recommend an adapter that manage to control F AND foucus ?
Hi Wale, great video! Can these lenses also work with a Fuji X T-1 if I use an adapter? And do all lenses work with a NIKON-FUJI adapter or should I get different adaptors for each of the lenses you discuss?
great video. thanks. is this lenses needs convertor?
Yeah they all do 😊
We’re can I find these!!!
Another great video! I'd like to try the Takumar. Can you recomend a takumar to fuji-x adaptor?
Yeah the takumar is a M42 mount so any M42 to X mount should work!
@@olawalesanni2872 I ordered the Takumar 35mm f/3.5 and the M42 to X mount adaptor. Thanks for the advice!
Which adapter do I need to use the Nikkor 50mm in my xt3?
Great video man! You got a lot of passion for photography. Do you do it full time or just as a side gig?
what adapter you used for the 50mm nikon to your fujifilm x
I would love to know as well
I which to know too
I'm a newbie, just bought a x-t2 no lens yet, what does he mean he has to use it at 3.5. would the pancake lens be good for nature shots?
great review, great comments and some fine lenses here, only missing thing here is some actual image samples instead of your face the whole time
Such a great video I’ve enjoyed every bit of it 🫶🏻🫶🏻
just to clarify, you're still getting the 1.4 crop factor with these lenses? also what's your recommended adapter for using these lenses? is there a universal one or are you using different ones for each brand ? i have a fuji xt4 and would love to throw some of these on, i love my 35 f2 "50" but it's nice to have options.
Great video. Have you tried the Jupiter 8 and the Industar 61? (Both are Soviet lenses, and both very cheaply available).
I’ve never tried it but I’ve heard great things!
What adapter is needed for me to make these fit my fuji film xt-3?
I have a Minolta 50mm f1.4 and 1.7 rokkor on my xt2 it is very good. But once I put those lenses on my XE1 it is marvellous
Why so? I have xe1 and thinking about them, but the price is approx the same as Chinese lenses
@@alexkoklikhin509 Well I don’t have Chinese lenses … but I find that those Minolta lenses are sharp, extremely sharp to me, even wide open and it brings to the photos lots of characters… couple with fuji film simulation you have something really special …
awesome, I'm about to buy the xt2 and this video helped me :) dude do u need different adapters for these different lenses?
Thanks a lot ;)
Good video!
Well done pal great review
Very nice review .
What are your thoughts about the Tamron’s video capabilities and color rendering? Can’t see a lot of great reviews about this lens out there.
The 35mm 3.5 is an amazing video lens! I seriously recommend giving it a shot
Hey man how are you fitting these on the camera ?
Damn am I gonna have to hit eBay up now? 🥴
It would only be right 😎
Me too, just bought one for £45! Let's see what this can do.
Alistair Lambert let me know your thoughts on it!
@@olawalesanni2872 I'll do a video on it. Your videos have inspired me to do more on my channel. Also, such a great community of Fuji shooters out there!
@@alistairlambert3275 Put it out! we need more content on youtube! seriously
Do you need any special mounts or adapters to use these vintage lenses?
yes you will need mount adapters, most are pretty cheap off amazon
Do you need a special adapter to mount them on your XT2?
Yep your gonna need a Nikon to Fuji adapter
@@olawalesanni2872 gotcha, was able to find a used XT2 and got it with Fujifilm XF 35 mm for under 800 - pretty stoked
Can't wait to hunt for all the vintage lenses
Does all of these fit the fuji x mount?
With an adapter yes!
@@olawalesanni2872 Cool, will the adapter lessen the possible quality of the lense?
@@Kndaux nope!
@@olawalesanni2872 Amazing, will definetly try it out!
What adapter did you use?
Great vintage wides are the early Minolta MC Rokkors, the ones made in the 60’s and 70’s. Avoid the newer Minoltas😊
I am considering the Pentax super Takumar 35mm f3.5 but I am slightly confused. There are a few available on eBay most of them say “super Takumar and one says “super muti coated”. Which one do you have/ recommend. Thanks
the Super Takumar!
nice to know, i would se also more pictuers shot with thath lenses :
Do i need an adopter for my xt30
Yep!
Hi bro hope your your well I am have eyeing up a TAMRON 24mm 2.5 MC Ultra Wide Angle Lens Model 01B Pentax test page gave it a 9 for sharpness. Well built looks gd you should check it out
Looks amazing! I'm new to Fuji and I read it is X mount, but Nikkor is F mount, isn't it? How do you fit it on a Fuji?
Need to know that too!
F mount to X mount adapter
How do you fit the lenses onto your X-T2?
Each lens should have an adapter to it do you can search Nikon to Fuji and find them on amazon it’s like 10 dollars!
Yes Bro, loved the video, and am checking out the lenses? What do you think of the Nikons compared to the more popular but now expenisve Canon FDs? Have you tried them?
I have the FD lenses the Nikon lenses are better imo
You know what yolo I’ll do a comparison
@@olawalesanni2872 now that I would watch
Can you send me the links of each one of where I can buy them
The only thing I hate about Takumar 35/3.5 is the lack of enough aperture blades. The bokeh becomes so ugly and polygonal shapes if you use any aperture except f3.5.
cool
Are you attaching adapters onto these lenses to fit onto your Fujifilm cameras? If so, which cameras?
you can just type in the camera brand to fujifilm and the adapter will appear on amazon!
Look at the lens not the monitor
