What a cozy reading vlog! I love Little Women. Reading it makes you feel so good. I agree- I never though Amy was so bad. I hope you weathered the storm alright. Thank you for the video!
Oooo I love York and Betty’s. Recognised the cakes straight away 😂 Storm was crazy, I was visiting the south coast and the wind was so frustrating. I love that edition of Little Women!
York is lovely - especially the Betty's and it was so wild to see it without a queue because of the storm ahahah😂 thank you - this book might be the prettiest book on my shelf hahah
Love your reading vlogs so much. :) When the storm hit Germany the trains basically weren't going anymore because they were afraid of trees on the rails. So lucky you for getting back home with the train. :D And maybe it makes you happy to hear that my cat's name is Kiara. Not quite your name but almost. :D I got her from a shelter and she already had that name. I really wanna read Little Women and see the movie!
Aw thank you so much Cam! The weather recently has been so wild, I was lucky to get on the train because so many got cancelled! And omg, I love that your cat (almost) has the same name as me! You should totally see/read Little Women, it's now one of my favourite stories ever!
absolutely loved this vlog!! the stormy weather looked so cozy and all the cafes you went to were so cute ✨ this definitely makes me want to read little women!!
I think what makes people hate Amy so much is when they get really attached to Jo and see her as the main character, and therefore see things more from her perspective, and then when Amy burns her book it seems unforgivable. I would also say Amy and Jo are the least alike in terms of interests, ambitions, and opinions, which can also make people not like Amy as much if they love Jo so much. Well, now that I'm thinking about it, I'd say maybe Amy and Beth are the least alike, but still Amy and Jo kind of have similar traits which makes them clash more because of their differing opinions and ways of doing things. And they definitely have different values in the first half of the book. I'd say it's more young Amy that people hate, rather than her as a complete character in the book. That could be especially true if readers pay less attention to her and such when they're further in the book when she grows up and there are other major events happening that have more to do with the other sisters. It's interesting you mention Amy's financial responsibility because, at least for me, that really wasn't something I picked up on as much. But it was a really big point in the recent film adaptation.
i actually want to buy this version so bad but i feel like it would be hard to finish 700+ pages (especially when i just started liking novels) :( do you think its a fast read? and was the font big? is it a combination of little women and good wives?
Thank you so much! Yes - I think this version, and quite a lot of the modern versions call themselves Little Women but include what was originally Little Women & Good Wives!
i wanted to read this before the movie too but life just never works out that way. same for emma, i wanted to read the book first but the movie is already out! ive never really understood the appeal of retellings, ive only read one which was an alice in wonderland retelling and its the only book ive ever rated one star
hahah - life just doesnt always work out that way but, to be fair, seeing the movie first only made me even more excited to read the book! And yeah, I know what you mean, I feel like maybe retellings are just not for me haha!
Hello! Hope you're still active here! I'd like to ask a question, if you don't mind me asking. Is this book a great gift to someone going off to college next year? She's kind of a bookworm so I'm looking for books to give her. Personally I haven't seen the movie or read the book so I'm kind of conflicted whether to buy this as a gift or not. Thank you!
I really recommend watching the BBC Little Women mini series. I enjoyed the movie but I have to say that I loved the mini series ❤️ I really enjoyed this video thank you! So I have to correct myself: it is a PBS masterpiece miniseries. Oops 😁
People don’t like Amy and like Jo maybe because Jo’s story line and her hole purpose is one with Witch people tend to relate more now a days , her wanting to chase her dreams and not get married and provide for herself is something that people still want to do now as with Amy she wants to marry rich and live a comfortable life through marriage, even if there is no love and that’s not something people find good in todays standards . Obviously we enjoy seeing characters fight for they’re dreams specially if they are a minority , and both jo and Amy wanted to be able to take care of their family but we often forget who truly would be able to do that in those times , and that would be Amy .
Totally agree! And that's why I love both sisters because I feel they're both so strong in their own way and both try to do what's right for them personally whilst also trying to do the best for the family, so even though their ambitions are different I do see them as similar characters!
I just noticed your eye colour is same colour of the book!

I do get that - but I also feel like Amy and Jo are really similar on so many levels and I loved them both haha!
Is that edition includes parts 1 and 2 or just part 1?

You should check out March by Geraldine Brooks! It's about Mr March and his experience in the war while Little Women is taking place. It's wonderful!
Ooh, that sounds like a really interesting companion story - will definitely check it out, thanks for the recommendation!
Love your voice!
Does this book include Good Wives as well?
Thank you so much! Yes - I think this version, and quite a lot of the modern versions call themselves Little Women but include what was originally Little Women & Good Wives!
Thank you! I have been looking all over the internet for this information! Now I can finally buy this beautiful edition :)

Am I the only one that reads ‘Cafe Nerd’ when you have a Cafe Nero cup? I think it’s the font lol.
