  • When the Defense Department and US Air Force analyze the pacing threat, a hypersonic missile propulsion capability for their offensive mission set is a must-have capability.
To address high-value targets in a time-sensitive nature, the US Air Forces is developing missiles that are faster, more survivable, and highly maneuverable. One of the keys to a successful hypersonic missile program is propulsion -- namely the scramjet engine. In this brief video interview at AFA's Air, Space, and Cyber conference, we talk with Northrop Grumman about the role its scramjet engine has played in development of the Air Force's Hypersonic Attack Cruise Missile (HACM), how the company is building infrastructure and capacity to manufacture scramjets affordably and at scale, and their new hypersonics facility in Elkton, MD, to build them.
