- Livonia Avon & Lakeville RR 20 is fired up for the first time this season at the Rochester Genesee Valley Railroad Museum.
Sorry about the lower quality, my hands were too greasy for my good camera!

I am also similarly slow to get going first thing in the morning. Glad to see there are some good old Alco RS's still around and in running condition.
I love the sound of the Buchi turbocharger! It sounds like a canary in the engine.
Reminds me heavily of english electrics
I've always liked how rustic the RS1 appears. They would perfect on a logging railroad.
You are correct also the freezing Arctic conditions in Russia because the US government sent them to Russia as part of Lend Lease
The old TEM 2 class switcher shows its Alco pedigree.
My son really likes trains especially Alco's like that one. He says many people like them because they are not as common and are built real rugged.
The great sound i ever heard
Delivered to the Chicago and Western Indiana, sold to Genesee & Wyoming in 1971 to Eastman Kodak (probably Eastman Chemical/Kingsport TN) before ending up here.
Ah, LA&L #20. She doesnt quite like being started cold, but is a wonderful locomotive regardless!
If you look at Russian switcher locomotives from the Soviet Era they almost resemble the RS1 Alco locomotives because the US sent them over to Russia as part of Lend Lease.
And to Trans Iranian too.
@@danielfantino1714 Let me see the Persian corridor/North South trade route
Great shot Kurtis! Gotta love those ALCOs💪💪

Alco's kick ass!🚂,1:06
Cool looking inside the beast😊
we have one of these at our museum that hasnt been run in ages… we are going to start working on it. i was curious to see what a 9500 cubic inch 4 stroke 6 cyl sounds like, its glorious! thanks for sharing
Sweet footage thanks for posting!
I've heard that Alcos idle roughly. BUT, they sure are tough! Good yard engines to kick cars with!
One by one, worn out cylinders, fed by dribbling injectors, come to life again...maybe. The Buchi-Elliot turbo helps as much as it can.
Like soviet locomotive TEM-2👍
Sounds like something is broken... two pieces of metal slapping together.
i love the video
Thank you for sharing. I believe they just donated this unit?
This locomotive was donated about 10 years ago. You are probably thinking about the other Alco, which is very similar that was donated a few months ago.
Honorary steam Engines
😂 huffing and puffing
yes ok
539 luv
244?
539 engine.
539 Turbo originally from McIntosh & Seymour (Ireland)
Throw it away, bad for nature! 😢 shame on you.
Only if you take something actually damaging like every single interstate highway along with it. Then we might actually see a difference
Get rid of private jets first.
