Honestly, you don't need a multi step routine.
    Morning.
    Get up.
    Use bathroom,make bed
    Start coffee.
    Feed pets,if you have any.
    Gather dishes,put in sink.
    Take food out for dinner.
    That's a routine.
    Nighttime.
    Take a shower.
Get clothes ready for the next day
Have lunches packed and ready to go.
Get everything you need to take with you ready in one area.
    Clean up after dinner.
    Thaw the next night's dinner.
    Get ready for bed.
    Routine.
    See?
It doesn't need to be this Instagram multiple step, hours long routine that takes the entire day

When little ones and shift work were happening at our house, the “5 minute tidy” was a great help. You take 5 minutes ONLY in whatever room is a disaster and clear some space. I found it created a habit of picking up out of place things throughout the day. Not just me- everyone. Things stay ok until main cleaning.

I do the same thing as your friend. I ask myself: 1. How did I eat? 2. How did I take care of my house? 3. How did I take care of my money? and 4. How was I a blessing? I write them in my planner at the end of each day. It's a wonderful way of being accountable to yourself. xoxo

I'm struggling with my brother. He's special needs and he refuses to shower. He stinks to high heaven and I'm hitting a brick wall yelling at him. I need to figure out how to change my approach so I can make him want to be clean smelling. It's really frustrating me this morning and your topic is right on point. Thank you. ❤ Sacramento, California USA 🇺🇸

what if you reward him with something he loves .. not super costly but say a drive somewhere a favorite food etc perhaps try to make it into a game? start off small example if you will shower and clean yourself thoroughly we can get this go do this etc perhaps even convey to him the importance of cleanliness related to bacteria growth ? ( i am mother of special needs adult female whom also despises showers )or state (insert favorite celebrity relatives name) wants you to be cleaned up ?

One thing my sister in law learned was to shift language to “we” instead of “you”. She would say “we” need to get cleaned up for our day. Should I go first or you today?”
A little shift. Might not always work. It did help them build routine for him at 30+

This is also something I have thought about a great deal over the years. I have resolved it by realizing that one's own best is not someone else's best. Especially in families there is often one person who has more light than the other family members. The way to handle this is by being patient and trying to generate feelings of comfort and hope to the other family members. Also, get support for yourself if this is challenging.

Great advice to reevaluate oneself regularly!
One of the best questions I have ever been asked is, "what advice would you give someone else?"
It made me stop and realize I would probably be a little more stern giving advice to someone else in the same situation that I was in! I tended to go easier on myself!

today, that I am blessed and am not burdened with as many problems as I thought. I have extreme empathy
for one and all and I hope you can get some help and just try to take one day at a time. Give yourselves a pat on the back and realize there is more to life with God's help. Get more rest too! 💙💫💛

Hi Money Mom! Sounds like a good plan, except I would not want to roll around in and analyze everything in my life every night.
That is very stressful to me. Maybe set aside once a week for evaluation. Nothing is ever perfect. I'd rather end my days with a prayer of Thanksgiving.

great advice! I make a to do list for my week, yes chores, but also include making time for reading, exercising in the park, meeting friends for coffee. Nice way to re evaluate what is making us happy giving us joy and a sense of accomplishment. We are so hard on ourselves, very high standards, we need to be more accepting of ourselves, enjoyed this!

Ya know, when I worked as a teacher, I did a lot of self evaluation (and asked the students to evaluate me regularly as well) because the old saying of Socrates that an unevaluated life is not worth living or something to that effect has some merit. Now that I am at retirement age, I don't care to do so much introspection. I have been so purposeful for most of my life, that it is nice now to not account for as much, except in finances.

I start my day with a cup of coffee and a conversation with God...thanking him for all he has done, as well as telling him my plans for the day and getting his approval before proceding with those plans. Gods plans are always better than mine. I also study under my spiritual pastor for that day's topic and follow the scriptures with him in my bible. This helps me through the day with a right mindset, with great rewards...one of them being peace in my mind, God's peace.

What a beautiful way to start the day. Before I even get out of bed in the morning, I thank God for keeping me through the night. I thank Him for the many blessings He continually gives me. I had not thought to tell God my plan for the day and to ask for His approval...that's a wonderful idea. My Bible reading and devotionals are some things I also try to do each day. Diane in NC

I do the good old fashioned pluses and minuses columns on a sheet of paper or blank document page in Word. At the end of the day, what went well goes under "+" and what not-so-well under the "-" heading. Then it's an instant visual to zero in on needed changes, a.k.a. the minus column.

I could plan and analyze till the cows come home, given half the chance. Not much action though. With this in mind, I don't do too much daily planning/introspection or I'd never get anything done. Although it's a bit odd, I write down any major achievements during the month, on the same spreadsheet as my daily expenses. This stops me from being too hard on myself, as I can then see at month end that I DID actually do something.

A couple weeks ago I wrote out a weekly plan on paper, haven’t stuck with it yet. I was about 40% the first week, last week and this week so far about 45%. The sleeping thing is where I mess up, stay up to late, get up about 7:30 and go back to bed. Today my final “get up” was 11 am. It’s noon and I’m still not dressed! 🤬

I understand going over a daily plan, and trying to see if we can go by it and get as much done as possible, but being a slave driver to ourselves (or in other words, trying to be a perfectionist) doesn't really seem like a good plan to me either. Maybe I was misunderstanding though, that's always a possibility. 😂

I usually have about 4 things scheduled on my planner every day. But, if they don't get done, sometimes I move stuff to next week. I don't add stress to myself, the planner is just a reminder of what I want to get done. Some days get mixed up by the weather. But the most important stuff floats to the top and I rarely totally forget stuff. If you're driving an old car, check the oil every Saturday morning. If you have health concerns, maybe advice from Dr Ken Berry's UA-cam channel could help. The number one is the Lord Jesus Christ. I start every day reading my Bible and Praying. 4 chapters a day will do the whole book in a year. Just skip the stuff you don't understand, maybe you will next year.

I rarely need to re-evaluate anything in my life, unless I am failing at it. Assessments, tests, all sounds very schoolish and teachery to me. Why not ask a friend to evaluate you when you are in doubt or need help? All this wasting time on assessments keeps you from sleeping and enjoying life. Some people use routines to keep from accomplishing much. Let go of things you don't need or want. I don't understand chasing the psychological babble of activities to try. The world is busy. Slow down and simplify. Quit chasing every little new thing or concept. Quit chasing knowledge. Take the knowledge you have and use it.
