@@cameralabs I made the switch to Sony, because I have rediscovered my passion for the old M42 manual focus lenses (Takumar, Carl Zeiss Jena and Helios). I then tried the 35mm f1.4 GM on my A7 IV and loved it so much, that I decided to get the 50mm f1.2, as well. Nirvana...

Back in the analog days from the 1970´s to the 1990/2000´s a 50mm was just a "cheap" kit lens that almost everyone got together with the camera, but only a very few ever used a 50mm, I think (and many others) that lenses from 45mm and every lens shorter plus every lenses from 55mm and longer are the best choice ! Ooooh, that's tough, as both are gorgeous lenses. The 35 will be more appropriate for scenery and portraits in context, where as the 50 will be tighter and show you less of the surroundings. So if you want to see the surroundings and the model won't be too close, then I'd go 35.

@@cameralabs f1.4 as it will be less expensive and more compact.
In addition if it does not have cat eyes vigneting , you will not notice much difference in bokeh blurriness. Bokeh quality is something else of course.
The comparison of the 50mm for Sony in your Cameralabs site is an excellent illustration.
Your review was very helpful.
I'm very glad I bought this lens.
Splendid lens!
Thank you.

Gordon you look old man now
Is it more a reflection of the sharpness of this lens?!
@@cameralabs lol
@@cameralabs @@cameralabs no, I've been with you since decade ago, when I have to choose what camera to go with,
And my first camera was Sony a300, it's a tough decision, every other review really hate Sony
I'm just an average consumer and I don't shoot anymore, but I like to see new fancy fantastic new toys, I think I'm a Sony fanboy, it's just to defend my choice, ego things. Now I'm happy with "my" Decision decade ago, happy to see how Sony turn things around, otherwise we all stick with what canikon offers and never thought about mirrorless
Gordon is not age lines on your face
It's Laugh Lines
Or are you southerner's a bit dour 😒
😂😂
Southerner?! That's like the wildlings calling the Starks southerners! I may live almost as far south as possible in the UK but I'm originally Mancunian! So an honorary Southerner! And er, yeah, much laughter caused those lines. They seem to have got deeper in recent times, unfortunately as lenses have got sharper...
@@cameralabs 😂Dear Honorary I'm sorry for that. I'm a Leither just along the east lanc's and I got farther south than you. In Taihape at the moment
Sharp lenses do nothing for the ageing. But Luminar AI does wonders
Enjoy 😂👍🏻
Nikon Z 50mm f1.2 is better.
How?
