I just received a call from recruiter that I've been selected for the role, and will proceed with the background check!! I'm an Asian who relocated to Latin America due to family reasons, which means I'm rebuilding my career in a new country, a new culture, and a new language. While I was confident in my competencies, reality has hit me hard. I've spent 7 months job hunting and have been unemployed. I've faced bias, distrust, and numerous rejections, all because I lack "local experience." A month ago, I started watching your channel and began following your suggestions (introducing myself, interview prep, thank-you emails, and commonly asked questions.) I'm not sure which of these strategies made the difference, but I'm grateful that I took it. Folks, if you going through the challenging journey of job hunting, please persevere. It is depressing, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And THANK YOU MADELINE!!

I binge watched your videos recently. Just a few days before my interview. I'm HORRIBLE at interviewing. I kept seeing a lot of people in the comments commenting that they "got the job" after watching your videos. I was excited for them but thought it would be impossible for me because that's just how bad I am at interviewing. Well!! I was completely wrong!! I received a call literally 4 hours after the initial interview to schedule a second interview. Just 2 days after the second interview and I can officially say that "I got the job!!" I rarely if ever comment on youtube videos but I had to comment on yours. You're the bomb!! Thank you so much for the awesome content.

I got rejected after an interview I thought went well. But then I came across your account and realized how many things I did wrong! Thanks to your content, I prepared so much better for a new opportunity and got a call back just 1 hour after my interview inviting me for a second interview! 🎉 THANK YOU

Hey Mad, just wanted to say that I got the job I wanted!! I moved from South America to Europe, but it was hard getting a job within my career since most offers wanted me to speak the native language of the country I moved to, so I ended up getting a 'normie' job at a restaurant. After 5 months, I got a call to start interviewing in January and surprise, I'm in! Your videos are the easiest to learn from for me bc of how dynamic and casual you are explaining. My new job is at a big European company with big names next to it, the people seem very nice already and I'm so excited to start next month. Thank you for all!

Hello Madeline, I watched your videos religiously for the past two weeks to prepare for my job interview that happened today. I’m glad for your tips and advices of how to handle the questions properly.
However, today the panel had a different approach, there was no “Tell me about yourself”, “where do you see yourself in 5 years”, “what is your biggest strengths/weakness” etc. Nop! None of the usual questions were asked. The panel concentrated the interview in 5 questions that were direct to the point and more focused on the position itself and how I would handle a very specific work situation in real life. Not sure if this is a thing now among the recruiters or if it varies according to the position.

Today I had an interview with the managers and leaders of the company I'm applying to, and I wanted to thank you for all the content you generate. At the end of the interview, when I asked if they had any questions about my professional profile or if they wanted me to delve into anything further, they said no. In fact, they congratulated me on my ability to respond clearly to all their questions during the interview. I obviously prepared for the interviews, but it was your examples, tips, and answer structures that made everything possible. I don't know if I'll get the position, but I'll keep you informed! By the way, English is not my first language; I'm from Latin America. So, I wanted to tell you that you're also helping people all over the world :) thank you again @SelfMadeMillennial

I’ll be honest. Generally speaking your videos helped me. However, for the majority of my interview I had a panel asking questions. They all were pretty challenging questions that you normally don’t get during an interview. They were asking specific questions to figure out if I have the qualities for the position they were trying to fill. Which the position was open because the last person failed to encourage the team members. He failed to follow basic protocols like not sexually harassing the women on the team. He also failed to fit into the culture of the team. I was able to answer the questions they asked. But what I ended up doing is laughing nervously and spending almost 2 minutes thinking of an answer. Now. I did get the job. Part of me getting the job had to be the fact that one of the people on the panel is a friend and offered me the job. The other thing being that I followed up with my own difficult questions toward the end. I literally have no exact experience for the job I earned. I have skills and qualities that I developed in other fields. And maybe that also contributed. But after that interview I felt like I got court marshaled 😭.

Dear Madeline, it's a great video but as my first language is not English does it mean I have to write down the relevant answer for me and learn it until I know it by heart, so I can answer it on the interview? And if I have about 6,7 questions asked on the interview it means I have study an A4 paper size to be able to answer on an interview? Would that not sound rehearsed? So far I have been on 3 interviews and I didn't get any job offer. 😔Would you please give me an idea what should I do? Szilvia

Does that hurt my chances of getting the job. I used the star method and did well there. I’m worried that one mistake cost me the job.

The one caveat I will say to the whole story thing is if you're in an IT space the managers in that field seem to value you having the skill set more than being able to tell them a story. If you don't have the qualifications they're looking for they won't even consider you.
