    I just finished my harness. where do i hook my starter signal wire, coming from the ignition switch? splice it into the starter switch wire coming from the subaru harness ?

      +Trevor Proby Leave the stock VW setup in place. Hook te “starter switch” wire from Subaru ecu to the VW wire that connects at the starter Solenoid.

      There is a good video on this part where you hook up the OEM car key to work with the swap pl

    Do you have a video detailing the installation of the "new" wiring harness into a vanagon?

    • @Busaru
      @Busaru  7 років тому +1

      +Matthew Morrison I don't, it only needs a few connections into the Vanagon though - ignition wire, battery, fuel pump, and starter solenoid. All of the other items are optional. Good idea for a future video though.

    • @Busaru
      @Busaru  7 років тому

      +John Salmomd I wish we were still adventuring in Snowshoe but we got a little burned out after 14 months of travel. More to come, just been super busy with projects lately. Thanks for asking!

    does the neutral safety switch need to be grounded before the engine will start?

    • @Busaru
      @Busaru  6 років тому

      +Trevor Proby No, it’s entirely optional.

    Do you ever need to strip anything out of the engine harness? I'll be doing this in the not so near future once I get a donor for my '74 Beetle.

    • @Busaru
      @Busaru  7 років тому

      +Lafond RC You strip all the wires that are loose in the harness once the unnecessary connectors are clipped off.

    Great video. You should check out Ultra Gauge's Wireless OBD-II gauge system since you are keeping your obd-II port. It allows you to stream data from the ecu to their app for IOS or android. its only $80.00 USD and seems to provide a lot of data!
    www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/support/gaugelookup.php
    Enter in the 1995 Legacy info and it tells you all the usable data.
    I would love to see this applied to a bus or bug project and eliminate the need for vehicle speed sensors and other hardware.
    A cheap tablet and this system could ideally replace most of the factory VW cluster minus maybe the in-tank fuel level provided that oil pressure, temp, and water temp sensors are configured.

      +Samuel Ross So I looked and looked but didn't see anywhere where you can actually get rid of hardware such as the vehicle speed sensor. It looks like ultragauge is just an expensive version of the OBD Fusion app (or other obd2 based apps). I could just be missing it - can you send me any info on what makes this app different? I'd love to eliminate hardware!
