    Or you can walk the Camino Inglés from Ferrol. Easily accomplished in six days!

      Yes, that's certainly an option. I did it last year and enjoyed the experience on the Ingles. For me it's a more complete experience than walking the last 100kms of the Frances.

    Love this...thank you! Question...does anyone walk it in the opposite direction?

      Sometimes they do, I saw it a lot more on the Portuguese Camino with people walking from Santiago to Porto or Fatima.

    Nice clear video well done. Can I just add that if you want a Compostela you need 2 stamps a day for the final 100km wherever you start.
    Last year I only had enough time to start from Logrono. I'm in my mid 60's and was recently recovered from Covid. I took a month to get to Santiago plus I had rest day's in Burgos and Leon because they are beautiful and interesting cities.

      Hi Caroline, thank you for taking the time to watch the video and leave a nice comment. That's an interesting point you make about stamps from Sarria. I walked it last year and only got one stamp a day from Sarria to Santiago and received my compostela with no problem at all. At the pilgrims office they look to see you have continuously walked.
      Logrono is one of my favourite cities, I love the pinchos bars down the back streets. I'm sorry to hear you caught covid. Well done for making it all the way to Santiago, it takes as long as it takes! Yes, Leon and Burgos are lovely cities to take a break and explore in. Do you have any Camino plans for this year?

      @Camino Hacks and Tips You were fortunate though I think in the Pilgrims Office they are good judges of genuine cases. However the rules state 2 sellos for the last 100km. It's certainly printed on the Santiago credentiales.
      This year I've more time and will hopefully walk from SJPdP to Finisterre 🤞 Will you walk another Camino this year?

    • @Caminohacks
      @Caminohacks  Рік тому

      I think you're right, they do take time to look over your stamps and can probably spot a proper pilgrim over someone's who's simply trying to pull the wool over their eyes. How wonderful that you get the walk from SJPdP to the coast. When will you go? I have a couple planned so far - Camino Baztan and then later in the year, ingles to Finisterre.

      @Camino Hacks and Tips I'm hoping to start near the end of August. I hope to be ahead of the big September wave!
      I have walked the Inglés and on to Finisterre via Mucia. It's a nice route and no bicigrinos! The muni at Dumbria shows how nice a modern muni can be given the budget for an architect 🙂
      The Baztan is still pretty quiet, I believe. I hope you make some videos.

      @@carolinesaunders6656 Fingers crossed you beart the heatwave. The meseta can be unforgiving in the summer heat, but it's still on of my favourite sections. Thanks for the tip on the municipal in Dumbria, I'll check it out. Yes, the baztan is a path less travelled, I hope it will be an interesting one. I will aim to make some videos while I'm out there.

    Can you clarify the length of the Camino from St Jean Pied de Port.? The famous 790 kilometers sign is at Roncesvalles, right? If so this doesn’t include the 24/25 km from Saint Jean. Thank you in advance?

    • @Caminohacks
      @Caminohacks  Рік тому

      That’s a very interesting point you make, as when you go to get your Compostela in Santiago they mark it down as around 790kms. So my educated guess is that sign is more of a tourist attraction than an exact distance from Roncesvalles. The first day from st jean is a tough one, but comes with breathtaking views.

    Your video are brilliant and so helpful. I intend to do The Camino July/Sept this year. I was hoping to start at Pamplona cos it's easier to get to from the UK(I think). Would you advise this? Thanks for all your inspiration.

    • @Caminohacks
      @Caminohacks  Рік тому

      Thank you. Yes, you can start in Pamplona if you want. How were you planning on getting to Pamplona? Starting in st Jean is fairly easy to, all you need to do is fly to Biarritz, then you have a couple of options for getting to St Jean.
      Option 1 get a taxi or bus to Bayonne and then catch the train to st Jean (train goes 3/4 times a day). Option 2 use a local travel company who pick you up at airport and take you to st Jean ua-cam.com/users/shortsVziOhpZsaT0?feature=share
      Let me know what you think, if you still need help let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

      Thanks for your reply. Two reasons why I'm thinking Pamplona. Time. I have about a month to do this, and secondly, age. At 69 with a dodgy knee thought I'd have a better chance from Pamplona.

    • @Caminohacks
      @Caminohacks  Рік тому +1

      @@huwdavies541 That's a good idea and it will mean you skip the tough climb over the Pyrenees. Looks like you have to change in Madrid to fly to Pamplona or there is a bus that goes from Biarritz airport to Pamplona.
      There is a bit of climb out of Pamplona, so to save your knee I'd consider taking some walking poles.

    Where do you purchase the passport to start?

    • @Caminohacks
      @Caminohacks  Рік тому

      You can pick up a pilgrim passport in st Jean pied de port from the pilgrim office, alternatively most pilgrim associations sell them (confraternity of st james in uk) or if you buy a guidebook from Casa Ivar you get one free - www.santiagodecompostela.me/collections/camino-frances-guides/products/from-st-jean-pied-de-port-to-santiago-de-compostela

      It can get quite busy at the beginning and from Sarria to Santiago, but there is still opportunities for solitude...if that is what you're after. The Portuguese gets very busy in July/August too, especially from Tui.

      @@Adomir I hear that Spain and the Camino can be very busy during Easter, so if you're planning to walk the last 100 kms I would recommend looking up accommodation options to see what availability they have. You can use booking.com for a lot of options.
