this is prime example of zoomers growing up with games where their choices never mattered and thinking it's a good thing also ngl kinda example of bad movie-games and one bethesda game, all of whom are notorious for not having any player choice

You are choosing shitty choice games. The Mass Effect Trilogy is the prime example of how it could work well. I played the 2nd and 3rd, then started over from the 1st and exported the character to continue it on the 2nd and 3rd... It completly changed the game and characters present. That said, I respectfully disagree. Your opinion is based in games you played in your generation while excluding the games that made it work. I miss games that challenged the genre. Ex: Deus Ex, Mass Effect, SW: KOTOR, Baldurs Gate (1,2 and 3), Fallout 1, 2, 3 and NV, after 4 it all goes to shit. Cheers!
Thanks for sharing your opinion! Someone recommended I play mass effect a while ago but I just haven’t gotten around to it. I doubt I’ll remember to come here and tell you what I think but if I do I will! But with regard to the old fallout games (I haven’t played fallout 1 or 2 but have played 3 and NV) they kinda just have those big decisions at the end. Some quests have different resolutions but after those small quests get finished they don’t feed back into the main plot so spending time completing it technically doesn’t really matter. It is very subjective tho because for you mattering might mean changing to world, and in 3 and NV there are some quests that do change stuff about the world.
Somebody remember inFAMOUS for ps3? When Kessler makes you choose between trish and 5 doctors, it ends up literally the same way, since Kessler will somehow "know" that MC chooses 1 option over another, resulting in Trish dying either way
I was thinking the same thing, though undertale does have some examples of choices not mattering. While undertale does have multiple endings, and your choices do dictate the ending, there is still a limited number of endings and a limited number of options For example, you could do the pacifist route where you use only use the ACT menu as much as possible, and use all the nice dialogue options, or the "assifist" route where you choose the meanest possible dialogue options and beat most of your enemies to the brink of death before sparing them at the last second At the end of the day, it still results in the same ending, you go to all the same areas in the same order.
Haven’t played that one yet but it was recommended to me a few times. If I ever get around to it I’ll let you know if my opinion changes… thanks for watching tho

The way it was described to me by my friend was like dungeons and dragons but a video game. I'm not the biggest fantasy genre fan, but I've always been intrigued by the concept of dnd so I'll check it out, one day...

I believe you are misunderstanding a point that I didn't elaborate enough on... This is whole video is based on my subjective opinion. Something that matters to you might not matter to me and that's fine, so to avoid that argument later on in the video I came up with my 3 criteria which I used to evaluate the games mentioned. You can disagree with me on what it means for a choice to matter, but that doesn't nullify the rest of the stuff mentioned in the video.
