Teammate Richard Hay reports: the laptops Razer (windows) requires Shift + ESC to switch F modes. P.S. He said that Apple requires the same. Teammate Patrick Schardt reports: If you can access your computer’s BIOS, there’s usually a setting somewhere that changes the behavior of the fn key.
Hold on, Mike, not so fast: it depends on the model laptop you’ve got. Look at the ESC key on your laptop: it’s got a few extra indications on it. On my HP laptop (from work) it is the LEFT SHIFT key that has that extra indicator for toggling the Fn lock. So, in general you have to look for that extra indicator. I sent you a picture.
Hi Mike and The Team, 1st thank you for the mention in your video - I feel truly Honored :) Yes my expierience was based on my work on company laptops. Lenowo, acer, asus, some HP's and with all of them it was ESC+FN, but trying to be reasonable I figured not ALL of them have to be FN+ESC so i typed 95% :) since i never met other combo laptops I only knew they must exist :)
The funny thing is: I don't even know what type of laptop it is. I just checked it out from my work and whatever they give me, I just use. I just looked and it says Dell Computer. Not sure what model lol
I guess I am lucky enough to have a laptop where I can use F1, F2... without the the need to use FN. I only need the FN key if I want to adjust volume, brightness , switch screens, turn off the webcam... It's exactly the opposite setting to what your (most?) laptop(s) has (have)...
I have a newer Logitech Ergo Keyboard that has shared media/function keys and there is a FN Lock key (FN with a padlock symbol) over to the right of F12 that toggles the Function / Media keys.
