Was changing bearings on my slash which is a frequent maintenance job here in Canada during the looooooong winters of snow bashing. I had a hex nut grub screw that was locktighted and could not get it from the plastic part which it was in physical contact with, So what i did to get it off basically boiled the whole hub carrier, hex nut, drive shaft part, was not hot enough to damage the plastic but I was able to get the screw loose and finish changing over the bearings. So boiling water can be a way to deal with locktite, who knew
Just so you know, almost all of the grub screws, etc. from the factory are threadlocked like that, sometimes there is so much, that things like your outdrive cups, and the axle hubs get welded to the parts they are attached to, and like you are doing just add some heat (when I had to remove my hex from the hub, that is exactly what I found, but because it is in plastic, I couldn't use a torch like that, I had to just hold a soldering iron in there to breakup the threadlock). For when you eventually get to them.
I was waiting for the Servo wire in mount surprise! I had same reaction.. makes it a bit annoying to upgrade. Wire routes thru servo mount, under esc tray clips, under driveshaft.. and into Rx box. There must be a simpler way.
Use naptha to dissolve/dilute the silicone oil. I use a small container with naptha in it and scrub the gears and inside of the cup with a tooth brush. Once you get the bulk of it out, dry parts with a towel, then a blast of air and it's ready to go in a couple minutes vs waiting for the heavy oil to drain out on it's own. This becomes a lot better to do especially once you get over 50K/100K/500K oil in there as that stuff takes forever to drain on it's own. I'm currently running 100k/500k/100k in my outcast diffs and really like it. Enough give to absorb shock on landings, but not so much that diffs unload constantly. Watching you take that center diff out by removing the 2 screws on top of the cage, then laying down the cage sides made me realize how stupid I am for not doing the same. Getting those stupid long pins out is a PITA when the esc/servo is in the way. 20 years in the hobby and still learning!
Isnt it the other way around on the gearing? High speed is less torque and acceleration but higher topspeed. If you want to flip mid air it is the acceleration or brake on the wheels that makes the car rotate? Like on a bicycle, trying to do a wheelie on a higher gear is way harder then a lower gear.
I need to find a way to replace/rebuild the front bumper and rear wing, both pieces that snapped off after only jumping it 4-5 times total... Was so hoping this video would have that since they're clearly the two parts on the car that break the most (both replacement parts are out of stock for the next 4 months) Im thinking about fabricating a bumper piece out of sheet metal, but I can't think of a way to fix the wing. ☹
Kevin, love your shop man! Lot of hard work I'm sure but it looks so organized and clean, sign of an efficient shop in my opinion. Enjoy and respect all your vids and passion to share. Peace, Wheelchair John in Idaho :)
Jeroen Engelgeer have one that you recommend? New to this hobbie and I need to do my center diff also. Don’t have the tools needed Incase I run into this same problem not able to get things out
Kev when you said it was ready do go, I don’t know if you meant that minute, but lock tight needs 24 hours to cure, or else it’s really bad for the pinion.
I bought my ruslter 4x4 by selling stuff on eBay and I am selling more right now to get my next RC, I just started to mess around with eBay to make money for RCs since I don't have a lot of extra money in my regular job. I'm gonna have to check your course out for some tips.
Get these for the steering 6x10x3mm Rubber Sealed Ball Bearing pack off 10x for the Kraton and notorious it improved my steering the original ones are bushes only £6.65 and your have 2x spare
Mate I'm not sure it's your thing to much but an idea for a video the buggie jumps and traction with and without the wing. Just interested to see the difference is
101 about gearing taller gear does not mean better bashing you putting more strain on the motor then you put thicker gear lube is even more strain on the motor and going to make the motor hotter the esc works harder and get hotter faster taller gear smaller tires small gear bigger tires :/
really like the new business plug! wasnt a big fan of the other one was kinda a little business like but this one is very good keep up the good work!! ps i am thinking of starting a rc channel myself let me know what you think!
Gosh ya make that look so easy. I’m new to this and need to do my center diffs but affraid I won’t be able to get it done. No torch pen. Where ya get that thing
One question Kev is why did you decide to upgrade the Notorious before testing its durability stock? Its shorter than the kraton so might not have bent as much.
The center diff slips if the front or back wheels lift too much, so you usually want to stiffen it up a bit so if your wheels lift the power won't all go to the end that's up off the ground
I work in a rc shop and its been a long time since ive had an rc car and im about to pick up a 6s notorious. I am looking for a good bit of upgrades to make it bullet proof and this video went a long way with helping but theres a few more i want to do as well so thank you for all the help and my boss knows you for a good ways back. Said you used to go in his dads shop all the time
I'm starting to get interested in the Arma trucks, I like the body's look and if it holds up to your skate park of doom I might have to get one, good video
I got the notorious almost 2 weeks ago. Looked at all of arrma 6S rigs and it's no difference between the notorious and outcast. I got the notorious because I didn't want the orange outcast
How did I miss this vid?? No notification wtf UA-cam! Hey Kev can I have ur RC’s, just give me all of them, 😂 I could only imagine how many times u have been asked for free stuff, why not ur rich right 😆
oh and on my talion and my dads serpent gt i put 1million in my center can it works really good and he put 20 million in his and it is like rubber so its really good so i would recommend it.
Kevin you should be using 1,000,000 weight center diff oil in all of the Arrma rigs. I have used 500,000 before and still thin after it warms up. Great videos!!!!
Early sooooo, SUBSCRIBE!!!

@Abradolf Lincler I do, it's just when I'm working around plastic, I want something a little more surgical.
I was waiting for the Servo wire in mount surprise! I had same reaction.. makes it a bit annoying to upgrade. Wire routes thru servo mount, under esc tray clips, under driveshaft.. and into Rx box. There must be a simpler way.
Yes there is, when you upgrade it just stick it to rx box and roll cable in it :)

Great Video man love the Time laps your getting much better at Video Editing. Great Job man Can't wait for the next one!
I am learning SO much from your videos. Thank you!

Try heating things up with a soldering iron, less likely to burn other things.
Jeroen Engelgeer have one that you recommend? New to this hobbie and I need to do my center diff also. Don’t have the tools needed Incase I run into this same problem not able to get things out
@@xampleman Any soldering iron will do. Only touch the bolt that is stuck.
Im liking the self plug intro hourglass timer Kev
why oh why is that gear exposed on the bottom of the chasis?
Incase rocks or debris get caught it has somewhere to escape...I know it looks funny but it has a purpose
Hey, thank you!
Hey Kev! Love how you keep it fresh with your eBay course info. Very smart about it. Keep it up buddy. That hour glass tho. 😎
Kev when you said it was ready do go, I don’t know if you meant that minute, but lock tight needs 24 hours to cure, or else it’s really bad for the pinion.
What is that tool you used to heat up the screws? 🙏🏼
Hot racing makes a ton of aluminum parts for these as well as the kraton 6s
Love watching these Kev! Very informative. It may get me back into running em again.
I'm curious to hear how the center diff fluid worked. I have a Kraton I can't keep on 4 wheels.
I run 50k 500k 20k in mine and it works great
The aluminium brace is always a good idea ;)
I'm doing mine up atm few exb parts some cheaper bits it's all fun. Nice video the notorious is litterally notorious for breaking alot haha ❤
Thanks Kev for making the eBay course free I have already started
Alright kev did you upgrade the servo in any arrma yet? If so what would you recommend? Cheers bud keep bashing!!!
Ive just bought one and 3 bashes in, servo has shat itself. Seems like upgrading it is a must.

I think it looks cooler with the scratches on the body, makes it look worn and with a 1950s based truck body it suits it really well
Mate I'm not sure it's your thing to much but an idea for a video the buggie jumps and traction with and without the wing. Just interested to see the difference is
I really like my Arrma but does no one make a chassis brace from shock tower to shock tower? I really don’t like hack jobbing it lol
Yeah it would be nice to see a pro mod. DIY is so bleh.
Al B it is. RPM or T-Bone or a custom should be working on a couple. It’s needed. Lol
Would never run a brave
agian
How do you snap your fingers so loud. Been trying for weeks to get that kinda volume! Can you make a How to video on the finger snap!
Do u think it would be hard to replace the braces with the esc on or off. And as well for the Servo
101 about gearing taller gear does not mean better bashing you putting more strain on the motor then you put thicker gear lube is even more strain on the motor and going to make the motor hotter the esc works harder and get hotter faster taller gear smaller tires small gear bigger tires :/
Would you like to edit that and remove all those periods and commas?

what rc car diff oil weight would you use if you werent going to use the silicone earplugs?
i saw that you have hpi mats did you used to run their cars.
What would you recommend for a new wheelie bar or rear wing I broke mine and wanted to know if it’s better stock or to upgrade it
The new notorious has the center brace and a upgraded servo arm.

Nice video kev 👍 sweet upgrades can't wait to see it rip 👊
What upgrades y'all do on your notorious
One question Kev is why did you decide to upgrade the Notorious before testing its durability stock? Its shorter than the kraton so might not have bent as much.
i didn't wanna bend it al all if i could help it dude
Kevin Talbot fair enough. 😀👍 enjoying the videos, thanks for the work. I decided to get the alu bits as an upgrade from banggood too.
Hey kev I have a notorious also and both of my rear wheels were loose and I lost both drive shafts do you know how long they are?
Because of your channel I wished a real rc car for christmas present.
Interested to see what it’s like with the different gearing , seriously thinking about buying one of these , looks so mean 😍
why thicker diff oil ?? genuine question

I might be dumb, but the parts provided in the discr shows me parts for "kraton" are they the same or are the links broken? Thank u :)
Yes... the loctite on the pinion. It's on the motor and differential mounts too. LOL.
