I watched this early this morning...2x. (I'm slow 😉) Truly fantastic Paul!!! 👍 👍
It really is one of the most complete all around videos I've seen & that you've done...EXTREMELY HELPFUL!
Thank you for all you do Brother...we think the world of y'all!
Thanks, Ken! Glad you enjoyed and was helpful.
@@MrPostFrame Seriously Thank you so much for making this video!!! Really all your videos are awesome!!!
Thanks Paul that really helps
Jay
Another wealth of info.
Thanks!
This was very educational! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Very thorough, appreciate it. Wincing but probably gotta get that Fasco nailer for the jumbo blue tips...
If/when post frame becomes an accepted framing system for residential housing in the burbs.....we'll all have to develop fall protection systems. I've seen so many post frame videos that don't have any wall planking at the perimeter or even some were they are using harnesses with lanyards that so long that the user wound hit the ground before the rope gets tightened.
Nice part of working in rural areas is you don't have OSHA agents bothering you.
I'm not criticizing you.....we don't have planking or harnesses either. Our labor would need to be significantly higher if we did.
There are harness systems that allow free movement but have auto arrest systems. 3M sells excellent ones via their Scott safety systems group.
This is the video I have been waiting for. Nice!
Awesome, thanks!
Exelent and very helpful. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Perma Column sells embed that are 5.5" for solid columns
Nice job.
Thanks!
Id say to look at zac or zkl metal screws. They fully enclose the washer.
If you use a 4' on center truss spacing would you but end match or stagger up/down
Thx Boss
@30:29 Is the code for porch posts the same as for the house? Minimum of 2" concrete to the edge of the rebar? Probably just a bad camera angle.
I was always troubled by the brackets having straight rebar legs. Can't those be pulled out even after the concrete sets? Wouldn't L-shaped legs be preventing them from being pulled out?
They don't pull out due to the rippled nature of the rebar surface. The entire concrete footing will pull out before the bracket does.
I am still curious on how long the manufacturer of the screws with the rubber seal for the exterior steel will last. It's 120 degree heat by day in the summer and thirty degree cooler by morning. Or, should I still think Standing-Seam? That's a lot of screws to replace if they only last three years here. Great video and coaching from the audience,...I could tell
shoulder harness back in my day. We had one belt to hold the pants up and the other to pull them down
The sheet metal screws and the washers will last a lot more then 3 years. I use Graber post frame from Indiana as my metal supplier and I don’t remember the warranty but you can easily expect 15 years at a minimum probably like 20 plus years
The ones on my building had a 15 year if correctly installed. Given that, if standing seam was in the budget I would always do SS.
Why are you sheathing the roof? Love the content!
It gives a stronger structure and if you are building a 100+ year structure, it allows for an easy reroof when the time comes.
My local Building Inspector stated the sonotubes and wet set bracket method are not approved in my area, how can I confirm this. I believe he just doesn't have experience with them.
Is the issue with the tube or the bracket?
