I really love your kayak comparison videos. I ordered a wilderness pungo and my fiance picked out a pelican mustang both 120's based on your reviews. What we really need to see now is a review of paddles in the moderate price range since we don't have those yet. Thanks so much for your videos.
I went kayaking today at Lake Powell in Arizona/Utah & I loved it. These where the kayaks we used and I think I'll buy one. You give so much helpful videos. Big thank you!
After watching your videos I don’t listen to advice from anyone else about Kayaks. Purchased the Moken 12.5 V2 because of your review of it. Best Kayak I have ever owned! Perfect for what I do on the water . I see many people paddling like a Terex 😂😂😂 and tell them to watch your Kayaking 101 video.
Thanks for this. Just placed an order for two Juntos' with a local kayak shop in FL as I needed to upgrade a couple of kayaks at my airbnb rental and had been looking for something durable. The perception stuff had looked pretty good but I love the wheel idea on these for rentals as I regularly have to pay a kayak repair guy to do plastic welding over time due to renters dragging on concrete.
Bout a lifetime tamarack, I don’t fist but I saw how it was when you were standing and thought it would be a good one to start with. I enjoy the videos.
Haha yes and no. I have many aspects to my business so in a way I never went out of business, but I no longer run a retail store. Lodi Paddlesports bought out my old retail space. I’m making videos, distributing kayaks, and still own the Headwaters Boathouse at Lodi Lake.
I traded down from a lure 13.5 to a crescent ck1 venture. Best decision I ever made. I know everyone is different though. If you haven't paddled it down a river yet you really should! Amazing what it can do in rough current.
Its great that you do a review of so many Kayaks unfortunately none are viably available in the UK due to import duties and tax, but the ones that are available there are no honest reviews, you can go on forums and social media and you get responses saying buy this its the best out there but no definitive comparisons and even less when you hit continental makes like Roto Attivo or Galaxy kayaks. I have watched all of your video's and also a lot of others on UA-cam to help me choose my kayak, it will mostly be used for sea fishing and will also be used on Canals and rivers I was looking at something along the lines of the Galaxy Cruz which looks a close resemblance to the Nomad you reviewed, similar size, hull shape and load weight, I then looked at my weighing in at 280lbs and that reduces my options even further unless I buy a 2 seater and paddle alone lol but i think having watched your videos and reviews I am at a point where I can now confidently make an informed decision so i have chosen a roto attivo sea star weekend, I cant find a review though so guess I will have to make one when i get it out on the water, just wanted to say thanks for your indirect help through sharing your knowledge
Would you recommend the Nomad for a beginner (kayaked about 6 times only) The wheel seems a great idea and the Nomad seems to be a lot of fun .. maybe not quite as stable as some sit on kayaks, but not nearly as unstable as a sit-in kayak Regards from the UK
Have you tried the Perception Pescador Pro 12? Curious how it is in rivers, don’t want something too slow, but don’t mind if it’s not race speeds either. Tried the outlaw and that thing was slow as molasses.
I’m 6 feet tall and weigh about 265 pounds. I purchased a fishing kayak with a framed seat but I am looking for additional kayaks for myself and other members of my family. I see that these really don’t have seats in them they actually just have padding on the kayak. Are these comfortable for paddling even for someone of my size? Would a padded flotation cushion provide more comfort. I’m hoping I can make these work because I like the quality of these.
Dan, I am knew to kayaking and have looked for a few years and just don't know what to choose. Cost is a big deal for me. With that being said, I will be lakes primarily maybe a river here and there....but the calm areas and I want to fish. Me myself and I taking it from the truck to the water. Help please!!!! Thanks.
New to kayaking and I noted your video on kayaks under $300 from last year. Saw two that you recommended at DSG’s, Field & Stream Blade 97 Elite Kayak and the Pelican Mustang 100x. Both about 350 but seemed to have some upgrades. Can you recommend any sit on tops in a similar price range? These are a little more than we want to spend for a first kayak for one of our kids. A lifetime Teton Angler was there as was a sun Dolphin Bali 10 but the salesperson steered us away from sit ons.
First off the sales people know very little so take that with a grain of salt. I actually purchased every kayak you just listed with exception of the Bali. (Don’t buy a sun dolphin) I’m doing a 2021 box store review under $500. The blade is still the most impressive IMO. Needs float bags though. Lifetime Teton is pretty sweet kayak too though. Not sure I like it better than the Tamarack Pro though. I’ll review it this week and have a video coming soon.
Your videos have been super helpful with being new to the kayak world. Thank you a ton! May I ask for a quick recommendation? Which sit on top kayak would you recommend for coast/bays, lakes, with light fishing? I am having trouble deciding which kayak to go with since I can’t really try out any out in the San Diego area. I’ve narrowed it down to Feel Free Moken 12 v2 and Vibe Yellowfin 120. Tracking, some speed, transportability, are my determine factors. Thanks in advance!!
I realize you are super busy. Thank you for taking the time to do these reviews. I'm going to be purchasing my first kayak in the next month. I'm considering the Mustang 120 versus the more expensive Pungo 12'. Is there "really" that much of a difference, in your opinion?? .
Which one do you recommend for a senior citizen ready to learn to use a kayak for occasional recreation purposes and maybe fishing? I need a sit on top.
Sounds like this brand/model would be the way to go for some recreational kayaks that are high quality. Lifetime and such have ok ones, sounds like these are just better.
That Nomad looks pretty legit... Have an old Jackson with no scuppers. Just can't justify a new one... Took till Covid relief check to renew invasive species and fishing license... :(
Hi Dan, I really enjoyed your video and have watched it several times. I bought and finally received my Corona yesterday after 6 weeks. The kayak was packaged the same as shown in your video with thin foam and a plastic bag. My kayak was damaged during shipping having a 6 inch crack thru the top rear of the kayak. I think something must have fallen on top of it and not a mfg defect. Have you had kayaks delivered damaged? I hope the place I bought it from does the right thing for me. Unfortunately, they do not have any in stock so the best I can expect is a refund. thanks, Joe.
Feelfree always supplies dealers first. If there’s leftover inventory in the warehouse then they’ll put it on the website. You won’t see them with kayaks this season would be my guess
Hello! I ideally want to get the nomad but everything seems out of stock and there’s a couple Feel Free Move’s on Craigslist close to me. Are they good as well and specifically I am 6’3 about 190lbs. - do you think I’m too big for it? Thanks - really enjoy your vids
Yes. The Corona is best because the wider, more open deck layout. In fact they use to make a Corona Angler model that came with King Fisher seats. Not sure why they stopped. 🤔
Man, i just love that FeelFree NOMAD>...i am crazy about that :(...i wish one from the bottom of my heart...would you do a nice gest for an old firefighter from Romania to send me one like this :( ? I know for you is cheap there, but here one like this would be like 3 salaries or more.....and i dont even find this in Romania, nobody bring them here :( ...
Why don't you do what you always do and just go out and nick one you God damn gyppo beggar. Also, anyone know if there's much difference speed-wise between the Juntos and the Nomad?
On a very basic level, it's based on your height and the width of the boat, and whether its a SOT or Sit inside. We're hoping to put a video together on this soon.
Comfortable if adjusted right. Most clip in seats are this way. I see far to often people with the clips in the wrong spots and they are all leaned back looking miserable and working way to hard.
No 😓 not really looking at the moment as I have nothing to sell. I’ve got over 2000 kayaks on the way for summer and every one of them will be sold to a shop before they arrive to me. 2021 is 🦇💩🤪

Thanks for reviews. New to the sport and watching your vids put me and my family in the right direction
Glad to see another Headwaters review. These have been invaluable to us while picking kayaks.
I realize I'm kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good site to stream newly released tv shows online ?

Outstanding explanations about each kayak model. Thanks. Very helpful in assessing which would be best.

In moving water the CK1 is going to be a dream! Can’t wait to try it.

How to persuade my wife into a kayak:
Step 1: send her any video by headwaters kayak
Step 2: go kayaking
🤣 well that’s good for you, but my wife doesn’t buy my 💩 any longer.

I have seen that the Lifetime has it’s first pedal drive kayak. Do you have a chance to give us a review?

@@HeadwatersKayak Appreciate the input and looking forward to the new reviews.
Just after your thoughts 2 adults 2 young children can’t decide if two Gemini’s or one Corona would suit us best

Thanks for great reviews! They have been very helpful.
I bought a used juntos, but it doesn’t track well, is there something wrong with it?
I realize you are super busy. Thank you for taking the time to do these reviews. I'm going to be purchasing my first kayak in the next month. I'm considering the Mustang 120 versus the more expensive Pungo 12'. Is there "really" that much of a difference, in your opinion?? .
Yes totally different. The Pungo is on a whole other level. Mustang works, but Pungo you'll have forever.
Watched a couple of your videos and just realized youre in Idaho. Where at? Im in idaho falls
I was in Boise at Idaho River Sports
Not on your list but I have the lure 13.5 and love it .I'm 64 with a artificial knee and have no problem standing and fishing in it.
That’s great.
Which one do you recommend for a senior citizen ready to learn to use a kayak for occasional recreation purposes and maybe fishing? I need a sit on top.
May I ask how much for the 2 person Gemini?
Have you reviewed Perception Triumph 13? How would this stack up to that?
Sounds like this brand/model would be the way to go for some recreational kayaks that are high quality. Lifetime and such have ok ones, sounds like these are just better.
Yes they are built significantly more tough.
Man I bought a lifetime tamarack about a year ago and think I want an upgrade what do I do ? Any ideas 💡????
Old town top water 106 or the bonafide rs117
Our of those two Bonafide for sure. 10’ boats that are that wide paddle like 💩. Unless your fishing rivers then get a Crescent CK1.
@@HeadwatersKayak ok, thanks

What are your thoughts on the dagger roam 9.5?
Super cool looking kayak for rivers. I be never paddled it, but would love too. Dagger makes some smart designs and would bet it paddles awesome.

Thank you for the quick reply! Also was curious if you recommend the Strobe Helen kayak? I found one for a good price but not sure if any good.
Anyone know if you can move/replace the seats in the tandems with the kingfisher seat? really considering getting one to paddle with 2 little kids.

@@HeadwatersKayak Thanks! We have a FeelFree retailer here in in Central Arkansas, but they usually only stock the Moken/Lure boats.
