I just bought Milwaukee at HD for $33 so, thank God! Good vid makes me glad I got it. The Ryobi and one other brand I forget were both around $20 so another ten was worthwhile i think.
Nice review Bill. I was tossing up between the Milwaukee and the Dewalt just before Christmas. I ended up going for the Dewalt as the unit appeared to be a bit more robust looking than the Milwaukee albeit missing the auto centring feature as the Dewalt is a manual yoke-style adjustment. Prior to getting one of these I used to do all my doors freehand which with time becomes quite easy but opens up to mistakes if you are in too much of a hurry. I completely agree re the arbour and setup, I use my own with the pins and adjustment nut type rather than the Lenox you showed as the wind basic screw-in type are a pain in the rear to get off after being used a couple of times. A tip for getting the plug out of the hole saw after you drill the hole out. I dip my finger into a bottle of Ballistol and rub a small amount on the inside of the hole saw before I drill. the plug should just pop out afterwards.
@@billshowto That they do mate! The Dewalt surpassed my expectations. the large knurled knob to fasten to the door is very secure and easy. Buying another one might be surplus your needs but if you feel the need I highly recommend it. just forget about the supplied arbour and use your own good quality one as you have experienced with the Milwaukee.
Ryobi has a newer model that is significantly better then the existing model. I hadn't seen the Milwaukee before, I think I would definitely go with the new Ryobi. I review the new Ryobi model on my channel. The auto-strike locator is a nice feature on the new Ryobi's
Ryobi makes a new green one much better den da Milwaukee & way cheaper...!!!!!! All u needed to do was put some painters tape on door b4 making hole....
It looks like when you tighten this tool it’s tight on the side with the thumb screw but you can clearly see a gap on the side with no thumb screw, these are over $100 in NZ and I’m not convinced it’s worth the money ?
Using the adjustable wrench to get the saw off the arbor was a great tip.

Thanks for the video did you try Irwin door lock installation kit from Bunnings?
I haven’t looked at the Irwin lock installation kit , I will check them out next time I’m in 👍
Product links in the description 👍
Its best to do the installation of the holes before you paint any, that the more professional way to do.
That’s correct, however when installing additional locks to an existing door it may damage it 👍
