I do welding for a living for a company running millers that cost thousands of $$$ I been looking for something like this for side projects… seems good quality thank you.
Just got a Miller Multimatic 220 and I love it! It's also a multi process welder that does MIG, stick, and AC/DC TIG. I did a lot of research, and I knew that i wanted a 220v machine and the ability to do AC TIG for aluminum.
Great job on the video. And u got a very nice machine. I have a Lincoln 180 pro and love it. The shop i work for as a bridge c.w.i. all we have is Lincoln welders. Look forward to seeing more videos. Keep the projects going. I've been a fabricator for 15 yrs and enjoying every minute I get to build or be apart of something.
Thanks! That’s awesome I wish I would have held out for the 180mp but I do love this machine so far. Huge improvement over what I had before. That’s awesome your exposed to all that equipment and even better you love what you’re doing for a living! Thanks for the support!
The Little Klutch MP-140i is super powerful on Mig output It's stick is quite a bit lower at 70 amps rated output. Tig is the same, so not really a great MP unit. The mig is excellent though. I had the Thermal-arc 141 too. I believe the Lincoln is a very nicely built little unit. (looked at one today) and should serve you very well..The new Lincoln machines from the Welding stores are all built great..
Pull or Push does not matter. You'll have to do both when you are in awkward positions like building a roll cage, etc. Pratice both. Wire speed means "Amps" too. So as you turn up the wire feed speed, you also turn up the amps ... Lincoln guy so far. Since back in the days when I got my first AC/DC gasoline powered field welder (1970's). Have Lincoln LE31 coming right now (on order). Prolly get a Hobart 140 for Flux Core out doors on household current as my "portable" machine (gas gets blown away in breezes). My LE31 will stay on the bottle ... Put my old transformer Chicago Electric flux machine on the street today with a free sign. Gone in a couple of hours. All Inverter for me from now on :-)
You all probably dont give a shit but does any of you know a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
You can notice on the one side the penetration, or lack of penetration on some of your practice runs. That's something you'll want to dial in for sure, but they do look good for a beginner, nice job.
I agree with you on recording a new product. That's exactly what happen with my new product, sat for a month, but finally I'll be showing a video next week. Nice welding machine.
Me too. I have a Lincoln 180 DUAL mig with gas in my garage and an Ironton 125 flux core welder for tacking & small/quick/outside projects - but I'm hunting for something cheaper than my 180, more powerful than my Ironton, light enough to easily carry, and enough power to burn strong welds onto 1/4 and down steel. (this would be for use as a trail/camp welder when we go on wheelin trips)
jtmoffroad exhaust, did a couple of fences..and probably the biggest used is for turbo flip headers just used it to tack weld then used a tig welder to finish it off
Hey man, im a welder, ive welded stainless, aluminum and regular black steel... The only time you have to push is with aluminum, everything else just do what you're more comfortable with.
You can do either, but pushing will produce better penetration with solid wire steel. There are times you don't have a choice and have to pull though. Practice and know how to do both, but favor pushing if possible.
Sure makes it easier spending less money at first on the hf set up to see if it’s even something you’re interested in and to get your feet wet. I’d like to use someone else’s helmet sometime just to see the difference. I’ve never really though too much about it
Nice. When you play with it you always get better. Ha. the key to getting good is to weld two pieces together. For practice instead of laying it in a flat piece only. Then look at your penetration. Wish I could afford to buy a tig, mig, separately as the thing is with multi use machines usually are limited and also if something happens or goes wrong you can lose use of all functions. You can lose it all at once. .
If you need to weld thick, can't you just use a stick and do multiple passes like how pipelines are welded? Sure 240v welders are more powerful but is it that big of a deal if you can still do it with 120 on multiple passes? Or am i missing something?
You are correct most people dont realize the 5/16 inch rating is for single pass so if you need deeper penetration then you just need a slightly bigger gap and do several lap welds for build it up... unless i don’t know what I’m talking about... but pretty sure that’s what you do lol
Biggest benefit to 240v and a higher single pass is if your welding something and just don’t have a large enough gap to build up from... or if you only weld larger steel you would over use the welder having to constantly run pass after pass and not letting it rest
That's exactly what I have - LOVE that thing! It has plenty of power for what I do and has worked flawless other than the fan is making a little noise when it first starts up now (think that was my fault, I had it close to where I was fabbing and I think it ingested some dirty air. Wish they had an inlet air filter option available for welders)
How many spools of wire does that bottle get you through? Just bought a similar welder and I need to figure out what size of bottle I should get. I'm new to welding.
I honestly can’t remember if I went through one spool or two but I was reading the wrong side of the gauge so i was using over double the amount of gas.
Did you change the polarity for gas? I just bought one of these so I'm learning and this is the 3rd video that didn't show changing polarity for gas, wrong polarity makes it hard to get a good weld.
Sure you can. With a 140 amp it’s rated for 5/16 inch steel but many people don’t realize that’s for a single pass. So if you weld something thicker just think ahead and if possible increase the gap and lay 3 beads down or so by lapping them... one on each side then one down the middle just make sure to keep them clean before you run another bead
Very nice welder . I have been looking at the one from Lowes , however maybe I will get one from a Lincoln retailer instead . I like you will have to do some practice welds to get it down . I'm happy you finally are able to get to use yours . The outlet that you used is it on its own or is it used in conjunction with other 20 amp outlets ? t
Thanks! I think either option will do just fine, I liked the aspect that this did other types of welding so that helped make my decision. That outlet is on a 30 amp breaker with I believe 3 other 20 amp outlets.
Oh man!!! I looked directly into the arch when you started welding!!!!!! Now my vision is all messed up man. You should have warned me, & told me when to look away!!! You'll be hearing from my attorney. Plus... I'm gonna tell my mommy on you, mommy on you, my mommy on you.
So after doing the stick welding I tried out 6013 on an 1/8” rod. I def think I need to go to a 3/32” rod. The weld was very high and didn’t seem to burn very well for only a max of 90 amp output from this machine for stick

Congrats! That sounds like a sick setup!! Eventually I’ll upgrade to something beefier but this will suit me for now haha
That's what ill buy when i need the upgrade. It's not the best for every individual process but it is out of the universal welders

Definitely get a bigger bottle. You don't need as much gas in an enclosed area, but need A LOT more when welding outside on a breezy day.
What brand and size do you recommend?
Bought one with the tig kit, can't wait to get it. I usually use a miller at work but wanted to see how the lincoln worked and also in my budget

Good job good little welder. You can weld up to 1/2” if you take your time. 👷♂️
The bottle welder and cart looks good
I just got the le31mp version "retail" and it is identical to the 140. Mig runs great! Haven't had a chance to tig yet but impressed so far.
You all probably dont give a shit but does any of you know a method to log back into an Instagram account..?

@Grayson Ibrahim instablaster ;)
Don't be so hard on yourself. Those beads look awesome to me. Sure looks better than a Flux core.

Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated
I always drag with mig as well
Manual says drag with flux and push with solid. Just read new machine manual tonight.
@@tyjack1702 perhaps, but welding for 10+ years and it’s not failed me lol
welding with shielding gas is a game changer
I cant believe the difference. Glad I used flux for so long to gain the appreciation I have now for shielding gas

The waiting is terrible! Haha I guess we learn a whole other level of patience i suppose!
Awesome! I totally know what you mean about filming every unboxing. I have a whole workbench full of unopened jeep ZJ parts 😂
It’s tough! You kinda learn a whole new level of patience haha
@@jtmoffroad very true! I wish I wasn't so fast so spend the money! Haha
Hahaha ain’t that the truth!
Been thinking about getting this exact welder
Me too.

@@Gonecheenin heck yeah sounds good man!
Nice job
Lincoln Electric welders are the best
If you were getting a lot of spatter running flux you had it turned wrong. Flux runs buttery if set properly. Helps to have quality wire too.
Great looking welder. I need to get something that I can practice with.
Heck yea man! Just get something and start throwing it down!
@@jtmoffroad can I use it without the gas tank?
@@lilblickyboyz5364 yes, you just need to buy flux core wire.
I have a Lincoln 140HD and 180HD, love them both..good job with the video 👌
Ah that’s great! Thanks! What all do you weld with them?
jtmoffroad exhaust, did a couple of fences..and probably the biggest used is for turbo flip headers just used it to tack weld then used a tig welder to finish it off
For autobody what do you recommend 180 or 140 and size of wire
Lincoln says the machines at the big retailers are exactly the same machines.
No there not

I started off with the same HF set up. Spend some money on a good helmet, It makes a huge difference.

Hey man I have a older version of that machine. My Lincoln loves Lincoln wire
Ah that’s awesome to hear! So far mine does too!
Where you get cylinder?
The spatter isn’t because of flux, but your settings. You just have to get it dialed in right.
You’ll get better man just keep going at it 👍🏽
Thanks!
How's the Lincoln 140 holding up? I'm new to welding and I'm actively looking for a multiprocess version..
So jealous! Such an awesome setup! I need to get my welder on a cart or something asap

Haven’t ordered the extra TIG equipment for this yet
if you remember the gas regulator settings could you add them here. once i have them i feel ready to follow in your steps

I just purchased the 140 mig/flux core
Can I use tig on mine?
Has to be a mp unit
To see if your welds penetrated cut it across the weld and take a look at the root
Spatter is your gun angle / arc out
Muy bien vato🤛
This is the same as the le31mp

If u have thicker steel then 5/16 3/32 7018 will do the trick
