I just want to level up to level 60, so the steam level's color fits my profile's theme, I'm lvl 23 rn, but its gonna cost like $40 and thats too much for me to just spend on levels :(

@@ROO1KAT I would just turn all your extra trading cards into gems or sell them to buy packs of gems to trade for card sets. If you also have lots of points you can buy the seasonal badge for 40k points and that gives you 4k xp

steam levels says you need to spends around $5 USD to get from level 1 to level 15, but I've spent well over $500 USD and I'm only level 5. Why?

You need to spend that much on buying trading cards

What are the advantages of leveling up in Steam?

You get showcases to customize your profile and a bigger friends list. You also show up higher on other profiles. But if you don’t care how your profile looks and just like playing games there no real point in doing it lol

Makes sense if you are a trader. Most scammers wont invest as much money to get there acc over lvl 150. That said it makes your account more legit and people are more likely to accept your friend request.
You show up on your friends profile list higher or even at the nr.1 wich makes you kore visible.
Also, the amount of friends you can have is increased. 2k is max though.
For the average player it doesnt make sense and if you are lets say lvl 100 you have more then enough to decorate uour steam profile with additional showcases
