+Cokefiend He probably means that if you put food to close to the hole, it can fall in the hole and block it, thereby causing the leak. That's why he tells you to not stack things close to the hole so this won't happen again.

The excess water usually drains into a tray under the compressor, the heat from the compress and fan causes the water to evaporate. Sometimes the refrigerator is to cold and then the water freezes in the drain hole and blocks the drain. Unplug your refrigerator a=for a few hours to melt all the ice, this would be a go time to clean your fridge too. If you don't have a spare fridge then use a cooler to keep your food in for a few hours.
If your fridge doesn't have this hole, the water collection port may be in the fridge " ceiling" in the light housing. Unscrew the housing that the light connects to, and there should/ may be a water collection there. Clean that out and you should be good
You seem like you know what's up. I'm having a smelly problem after a friend used my fridge to store some bag wine shit that was rottening. After I cleaned the whole inside of both the fridge and freezer it was still smelling like the old wine. So I'm not sure what's going on
Hi, after trying all solutions you suggested, including the curtain wire, what if the water is still coming out of the hole? Does it mean I may need a new fridge?
If there is no hole, your fridge collects at the top of the fridge, the lighting unit has a water collection. Unscrew the light housing and there should be a water collection port. Clean that out and you should be golden!
The cold air goes down, and escapes through this hole, so I clogged it with some cardboard, this way the fridge stays colder, saving energy, but the water can escapes through the cardboard at the same time.
On the bottom of the drain line on LG French door, there is a rubber stopper with a little rubber lid. Water should trickle out of here and I guess it prevents stuff from going up into drain line? But I see no use for this unless u have tiny fish swimming in the drain pan. I removed mine as I think it restricts water flow, causing ice to more easily form. We'll see.
Leak found in freezer section. Rubber seal migrated down and blocked drain. After warm up pushed seal back silicone and super glued seal. Let cure for 2 hours.Frig did not start for 5 min then kicked on. Kinda freaked me out. CA/Silicone fixed seal and water over flow leak.
This technique works! I used hot salt water on my Kenmore and cleaned the piece connected to the drain hole. The only difference is that the drain hole for the freezer is inside the fridge, on the top!
@@bluestarsilver7586 i have the same problem looks like the water is getting backed up in my freezer on top then leaking into my fridge. Ive defrosted the ice and cleaned the drain hole from the freezer drip pan. It works for a while then happens again. Are you saying i should be cleaning a second area in the fridge? Thanks
Hi Bony PoTMsrB, the drainage hole allows the water/condensation build up in a fridge to drain out. For a more in depth explanation please feel free to call us on 0344 892 8979. Thanks, Vanessa

why didn't they just design it with some kind of cover over the hole that only allowed the passage of water???
+weo1weo1weo1 Because you are way smarter than the designers, apparently. I can't figure that out either. It seems like common sense to me.
+MG888 888 MG888 or I could have put one one myself :, (
But did you even know about it before this happened? I think most of us find out about this all-important magical hole AFTER we have a problem.
+MG888 888 MG888 yeah true XD
Makes too much sense.

Might be in the top of your fridge, in the light housing. Unscrew the housing to the light and clean the water port.
