- My drop loop webbing setup made up of all original items and, original contents.
For the benefit of the armchair heroes, this lot is used for AIRSOFT, not recapturing South Georgia.
Excellent impression! One of the first complete drop "SAS" style belt kits I've seen on youtube.
I've just put together a vid about the Survival Pouch as detailed in Lofty Wiseman's book, the next one will include the belt kit and bergen to complete the picture. Nice video.
Really nice! Always fancied making an SAS Type belt kit.
It's a really versatile setup. I've got other examples of drop loop pouches, from 58 water bottle pouches and, even some heavily modified kidney pouches as well. Some of this stuff is getting rare and expensive now but, it's still out there, so, go for it!
great video, interesting set up.
Thanks. Useful video. What sort of chest rig would be worn with this?
Depends on the era. For 70's, the 72 pattern vest was the most common and, for mid 80's onwards, something like the Arktis chest rig. There were other variations but, those are the most common. The maxim was (and probably still is) "Live out of your bergen, fight off your webbing and, survive from your pockets".
Nice layout grumpy, pucker set up rig. Quick question mate , you wouldnt happen to remember where you picked up the RAF ration tin ? I've been after one for ages, got a couple of the smaller ones, and also a green Australian ration tin which is the about the same length as yours but twice as deep but only half as wide. The RAF tin has the right Goldielocks feel about it. ( just right 🤣)
Great vid, thoroughly enjoyed it. Be interesting to see what you keep in that tobacco survival tin too. Always good to get other peoples views on what they carry in theirs. ( maybe a video for another day perhaps 🤔)
ATB Rob. 😊👍
Thanks. It's an old Mk8 ration tin. I picked it up years ago, from some surplus shop (way before the internet). I've got a green Aussie one as well. But, from what I saw and heard, it was the Mk8 one that "the boys" were using back then. I did consider doing a survival tin contents video but, the contents are an ever changing, environment specific thing and, I don't fancy getting ripped to bits by any armchair survival experts for not putting in something.
@@grumpyoldairsofter7305 cheers grumpy ill keep my eyes open for one but like unicorns poo and hens teeth looking like an extremely rare piece of kit to source. But you never know I might get lucky one day 🤞 lol.
Lol Arm chair survival experts make me die with their know it all wealth of knowledge. But I understand where your coming from. Maybe a disclaimer " this is my take on a psk, might not be everyones choices but these are mine" kind of statement. But im sure someone somewhere will ask why no shark repellant or £100000 in gold sovereigns so your probably right 😊
Anyway thanks grumpy for getting back to me. I carry on searching
Atb mate
Rob 😊👍
Great explanation and brought back a number of memories. I thought that I had arrived when I got my first cargo strap belt whilst attending the LRRP School! Bit puzzled by the yoke though. I never saw anyone wearing one in my six years. Surely one disadvantage is that you have to remove your bergen before you can remove your belt kit?
I suppose the yoke was created just as an extra support for carrying heavier loads in belt kit, or, indeed, to stop a heavy bergen from pushing the belt kit down when on the move, which is very uncomfortable. It's also a lot more slimline than a 58 pattern yoke! They're a doddle to remove, or, to just slip off, when not carrying a bergen and in patrol order.
So are you left or right handed? Ammo pouch on weak side & ffd on right/ weapon shoulder! Im confused!! Lol
I'm a leftie. The FFD doesn't get in the way if I shoot right handed either.
I was thinking the same. Ammo pouches set up for a right hander but FFD on the right shoulder?
@@PreparedPathfinder It is odd, I admit. But, I shoot left handed and do the reload drills right handed. I'm just cack handed and, a bit weird I guess, it's exactly how I did it with the real SLR as well, many years ago.
@@grumpyoldairsofter7305 yes that does sound weird mate!
