I had seen this final on T V and this superb seen when Madanlal takes ball from KapilDev and requested for one over and confidencely told captain that I will take wickets of Richard in this over and he done it with a short ball which Richard hook and KapilDev took a brilliant catch running back. What a beautiful moment for us and We won the 1983 World Cup.

Madan Lal is my favorite allrounder since December 1974, when He made 48 Runs with Ten Fours in First Test Enning of Third Test Match at Kolkata between India and West Indees and he took Four wickets by costing just 22 runs. Besides this, he got Clean Bold to Rechard in Second enning and finally, India won that match. This was very First Test match, when took interest to listen commentry of cricket match.

Madan lal is my friend for many years. He was not only the best all-rounder and player we had but he was the best human being in that team. I am saying this when there were players like Sandeep and Mohinder in the team , Kapil and Kirmani as well and I know them personally well. Salute Madan Lal who bowled that critical over.

भारत की प्रथम श्रेणी के क्रिकेट की ओपनर गेंदबाजी की पहली अधिकृत मीडियम पेसर की जोडी कौन सी थी।
ये जोडी थी मदन लाल और करसन घावेरी। जी हां 1978 में जयपुर में वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ
' बोर्ड प्रसिडेन्ट 11' की तरफ से इस जोडी ने पहली बार भारतीय टीम की मीडियम पेसर गेंदबाजी की नीव रखी थी। इससे पहले सिर्फ गेंद की चमक कम करने के उद्देश्य से शुरु के तीन चार ओवर सुनील गावस्कर, एक नाथ सोल्कर जैसे बल्लेबाज गेंदबाजी की शुरुआत करते थे। उन दिनों विशन सिह बेदी, चन्द्र शेखर, ईरापल्ली प्रसन्ना जैसे स्पिन गैंदबाजों का भय व्याप्त था।

As this video is about Madan Lal, my memories go back to December 1970. Inter University cricket knockout matches were played at Andhra University cricket ground, Visakhapatnam, my native place.
It was semi-final match between Mumbai (then Bombay) University vs Guru Nanakdev University, Punjab.
Madan Lal was captain of that team. Sunil
Gavaskar who was the captain of Mumbai University didn't turn up for the match. The reason we were told is that, as he was selected for the Indian national team which was to go on a tour shortly to West Indies, needed to practice against stronger teams. Sri Lankan team (not given test status at that time, but was a good team) was touring India and Sunny played against them. We were disappointed not to see Sunny in action, because in one of the earlier matches he scored a triple century (327, if I remember correctly) and became quite famous. He was a standbye for the Indian team against the Australian team in 1969, in which another stalwart Gundappa Viswanath made his debut. Coming back to the inter-university match, we witnessed all round performance of Madan Lal. And some of us could predict that he could shortly represent Indian national team. And we were happy when we were proved right.
