Same with Scarlet's Walk. 18 songs and no filler. At least 14 incredible hits, tied with evocative themes an a great atmosphere. A triumph and also my most listened album ever.
Wow you're so lucky to have got into Tori through Strange Little Girls. Not gonna lie; I was 13 too when it came out, but it was Scarlet's Walk that got me into her. However, if my memory serves me well, I had heard her songs before that. Back in the day, my local music TV channel (in Shanghai, China) played Silent All These Years quite a lot, and to this day, it remains one of my favourite songs of all time. A couple of Mandarin artists also covered it, including Faye Wong (王菲), who's very famous in Asia for her otherworldly soprano voice.
Mine: 1. Little Earthquakes, 2. Scarlet's Walk, 3. Choirgirl Hotel, 4. Under the Pink, 5. Beekeeper, 6. Boys for Pele, 7. To Venus and Back, 8. Night of Hunters, 9. Strange Little Girls, 10. Ocean to Ocean
My list: 1. From the Choirgirl Hotel - masterpiece 2. Little Earthquakes - iconic 3. Boys for Pele - an experiment gone right, so much to discover on re-listens 4. Native Invader - I kind of drifted away from Tori after The Beekeeper for several years, but this album was the healing balm I needed in 2017 and reminded me of why she resonated so deeply with me in the first place ("gotta get you back to you") 5. Scarlet's Walk - such a cool concept and beautiful music, but a few songs I skip pretty consistently 6. Under the Pink - the "highs" are incredible (Cornflake Girl, Pretty Good Year, God, Waitress) but it's less consistent than the five albums I ranked higher. 7. Night of Hunters - I'm just discovering and getting more into this album. Really beautiful compositions. 8. To Venus and Back - I love Bliss, Juarez, Concertina, Josephine, 1000 Oceans... but found the rest of the new material kind of underwhelming or drowned out by the production 9. Ocean to Ocean - A solid album, there are just better Tori Amos albums out there 10. Unrepentant Geraldines - I had trouble picking #10, honestly, because there's a big gap after my top 9 and I'm pretty neutral on the remaining albums (AAtS, Beekeeper, ADP, SLG). But the songs I love from UG (Oysters, Invisible Boy) resonate more deeply than my favorites from the other albums, so I'll slide UG into my top 10.
Not only is Scarlet's Walk my favorite Tori's album, it easily makes it into my top 5 albums ever. It is a true masterpiece. Carbon remains one of the most stunning pieces of music I've ever heard.
1. Scarlet's Walk, 2. Under the Pink, 3. Little Earthquakes, 4. Boys for Pele, 5. to venus and back, 6. from the choirgirl hotel, 7. The Beekeeper, 8. Strange Little Girls, 9. American Doll Posse, 10. Abnormally Attracted to Sin and Unrepentent Geraldines are tied. I've adored Tori for 30 years now and started going to her concerts in 1998 every time she was in town. Although her latest albums don't hit me the same way, they are still great. Of my top 6, not a single song is a skip and that's truely an amazing feat imho. I love how we all rank them differently because they each speak to us differently! 🖤
So much to say, but I'm just gonna say, that I absolutely love Strange Little Girls. I adored the booklet too. It's a also a very personal album for me.
1. Boys for Pele: Not just my favorite Tori album, but one of my all-time favorites, period. This album really clicks with me. 2. To Venus and Back: I love the mood this album gives off. Lust, Suede & Spring Haze are favorites. 3. Under the Pink: Icicle thru Yes, Anastasia is one of my favorite stretches. Baker Baker too. 4. From the Choirgirl Hotel: Mostly good. But a few misses in my book. 5. Scarlet's Walk: Her last really good album to me. Lots of good songs here. 6. Little Earthquakes: Not much to say. Good album. 7. ... And the rest. Some good songs on every album, but I rarely listen to them end to end.
I love all of Tori’s albums but, if I had to rank them, I’d go with this list: 1. Boys for Pele 2. Scarlett’s Walk 3. From the Choirgirl Hotel 4. Abnormally Addicted to Sin 5. To Venus and Back 6. American Doll Posse 7. Under the Pink 8. Ocean to Ocean 9. Native Invader 10. Little Earthquakes 11. Unrepentant Geraldines 12. Strange Little Girls 13. Night of Hunters 14. The Beekeeper 15. Midwinter Graces
01. From the Choirgirl Hotel 02. Boys for Pele 03. Little Earthquakes 04. Scarlet's Walk 05. Unrepentant Geraldines 06. To Venus and Back 07. American Doll Posse 08. Under the Pink 09. Night of Hunters 10. The Beekeeper
1. Little Earthquakes 2.Choirgirl Hotel 3. Beekeeper 4. Scarlets Walk 5. Boys for Pele 6. Under the Pink 7. American Doll Posse. I'd probably rank scarlets walk higher I always give up on it randomly it's good though I really like songs like carbon and your cloud is probably one of her best songs
Can never understand the dislike for y Kant Tori read, even Tori herself hated it, don't get me wrong it's not a masterpiece, but it's not awful either ....it's a grower .
My list is probably quite controversial my.. american doll posse, abnormally attracted to sin, midwinter graces, and strange little girls are albums i dont care for at all. But both boys for pele and scarlets walk are near the bottom in my list. I know that they are peoples favourites, i know there are some good songs on there... But neither do it for me as an album im afraid. My favourites are Little earthquakes.. its a masterpiece. The beekeeper (i know people will say 'you love this but not scarlets walk - i cant explain why, it just does it for me) and to venus and back. Its always interesting to see other peoples lists.
My top three are her first three, in that order. I would not rate scarlet that high at all, While I like the album, (like Amber, Vegas, Taxi, Fairy Tale, ..., I find it repetitious, drawn out, and it has a similar sound throughout. Her first three were magic! I started with Earthquakes when it came out in the 90's. Yeah I'm old. Over 30 years later I still listen and sing to her music almost every night. My voice range almost matches hers, though I have lost some of my high notes as I get older. I'm in my 50's now. Also retired bass player. Tori will forever be my favorite musician. And I was in a metal band. I'm surprised, you like Strange little girls that much? It was her Label "contract" rebellion album, to skirt her contract without actually giving them any of 'her' music. They really screwed Tori then, I wish that never happened, cause I think we missed out on some good music when she was still young and vibrant. Tori is a Blessing! Her Piano and voice is just something else. Edit: I posted this comment because I truly believe you understand Tori, and i can tell you love her music. I just think your missing her magic with your choice, Have you read her books? You ever watched "Tori Amos piano shopping 1992"? A quirky documentary. I think she was a bit tipsy in that shoot. I loved it.
Thanks for your comment. Loved reading it and really appreciated. I still think the ranking thing was pretty hard, as my favorites sometimes change depending on my mood. Some of my favorite Tori songs are on Little Earthquakes, “Tear in your hand” for example, that song is perfect. Little Earthquakes definitely has great songs, and I love playing them on the piano. The reason I like SLG so much, is partly because it is the first thing I heard from Tori and that made an impact; therefore the record holds a special place in my heart. I’ve read Resistance and Piece by Piece, and I specifically like the Piece by Piece book. I’m kinda hoping Tori releases a lyrics book. I think her lyrics are very interesting, and to have them collected would be pretty cool. Right? Thanks again for the comment. Love hearing everyone’s thoughts!

Night of Hunters is a masterpiece ✨️ and is my first choice ❤
Hello! I was wondering what the book youre holding in the TVAB section is?
Hi, it’s a piano book, sheet music
Can never understand the dislike for y Kant Tori read, even Tori herself hated it, don't get me wrong it's not a masterpiece, but it's not awful either ....it's a grower .
Y kant Tori Read has some great, powerful songs!
What's that Venus book you held??
It’s the piano book
My list is probably quite controversial my.. american doll posse, abnormally attracted to sin, midwinter graces, and strange little girls are albums i dont care for at all. Y Kant Tori Read is iconic.
I appreciate any good Tori coverage on YT! But UtP at #6? Wow ..... I agree that Baker Baker is great. But i think the whole album is just SO solid.
ooooh, i hate your whole extended family for putting earthquakes in 4th now.
after saying people like earthquakes more because it's debut album you put SLG in 3rd rank because you got good memories about it? so objective.
Slow down bro. The entire list is subjective; as it’s my top 10 (see title) thanks for watching though!
