- RED SQUIRREL PROTECTION DUTIES.
If only we were lucky enough to have the Red Squirrel back across the entire UK. Some lovely footage of a Red Squirrel though coming up, and if that doesn't encourage you to help eradicate the Greys, then I don't know what will.

footnote for others on the reds. they only eat 1 third the amount of food greys eat. they dont strip bark and kill trees. they also dont raid song bird nest for the eggs and young..and in the u.s some greys had been found to be carrying the bubonic plague some years back..nice video bud..
AND THAT’S THE SORT OF SUPPORTING MESSAGES WE WANT,
THANK YOU 👍👍👍
Another fun video!
Nice video bud, I agree, the Zulus is a fantastic bit of kit. I’ve now swapped from pard008 to Zulus for capturing my footage for my channel.
And it’s easy to operate too.
I’ve put the rubber bump stops , often used on kitchen doors, on the four main buttons.
Makes finding the right button first time in the dark and wearing gloves 👍👍👍
@@predatorprotectionuk I must admit I don’t have much issue with the buttons but the bump stops is a good idea. Are you going to the British shooting show next month?
@Thegreyreaperuk sadly not, I’d have only been home from hospital a week from hip replacement surgery so I’m certainly not going to be able to make it
excellent work there
Outstanding!
Hello Gery,
I think you’re right about that chum ! For the cost and how it performs, it’s certainly ticking the boxes for me. Perfect for smaller rifles as it’s so light, and once you’re familiar with the menu, easy to use and adjust.
Thanks for watching
David
Excellent video Des and very informative 👍
That’s what I was hoping for 👍👍👍👍👍
Blimey that lid. Talk about the dinner bell 🔔🔔🔔
It certainly does the trick, and I’ve learned that squirrels HATE woodpeckers being around the box
Great video Des and the image quality is very good from that scope. Looking forward to putting mine through its paces.
Good morning Jimbo,
I’m going to top up the nuts this morning and put up the other trail camera .
Thursday I’ll clear the path into the hide, as it’s really bad in there. Let’s hope they’ve all read the script for Sunday 🙏🙏🙏👍
I love my Zulus too. It's accounted for many Grey Squirrels. Apparently there is something like a 2x-15x one in pipeline so ideal for airgun ratting use. Also Greys do 10+ million pounds of damage to forestry a year, reds do no damage whatsoever.
@roseybut I emailed arken and they told me they are in the final stages of testing a 3-12 mag zulus with lrf and ballistics calculator been waiting for that myself they just said will be available soon
Badly needs a lower base magnification
@@TheGypsyboy82 excellent. The 5-20 can stay on the rimfire and the 2-12 will go on the sub 12 air rifle.
Well done Dave. Great footage, and to see what goes on in the making of good footage
Thanks Mick,
I’ve not long returned from the forest with Robin, and I’ve probably got 25 hours of video footage from many sources to view and sort through.
As you say, there is a lot of work involved to put a short film together.
Thank you for watching
Looking forward to it. @@predatorprotectionuk
The Hittac/Arken 5-20 HD from your give away a while ago is fantastic. Cracking picture and easy to use. Great for dawn/dusk, No IR at these times of day is easy to shoot/ID quarry.
Hello matey, I know one thing for certain…..
I’m NOT GOING TO BE GIVING THIS ONE AWAY !
It’s a keeper 👍👍
Great video 👍
Thanks very much for watching
Good viewing David, thanks for this one too. 👍
Thanks Reg,
Only just back from the forest now.
Good one mate. Good to see you walking better now. The Grey's are on my feeder down here on the lake and it will soon be time to show them that them nuts contain lead lol .
Hi Ian,
Left Hip is great now, right hip next month, so hopefully I will be back to normal soon 🙏🙏🙏
Wonderful, David. Excellent work on the grays. I appreciate your dedication being out on such a cold morning. Thank you very much for this educational and entertaining segment. That certainly was a cute Red. I add my wish that the Reds return throughout your country, but that would mean I also no longer would get to watch you guys shooting the grays. A sacrifice worth making. All the best to you. Jim
Thanks Jim,
I’ve only just got back with Robin from an action packed weekend. Lord knows how I’m going to edit this one 🤷🏼♂️🙄
@@predatorprotectionuk Looking forward to it; I can hardly wait.
@jimharriss2727 Oh Jim, I’m afraid you will have to for a while, I’ve got around 25hrs of footage to get through of my own, then I’ll have Robin’s to do ….😵💫😵💫😵💫
It's always fascinating to watch the different species that visit my feeders, I've watched a woodpecker attacking the perspex lid on one of mine for half an hour 🤦
There’s nothing harder than a Woodpecker’s Lips 🤣🤣🤣
Great Stuff '' 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Another excellent video David, I bought myself an arsenal zulus non lrf for christmas😂
It is an excellent scope its probably as good as my ATN 4k Pro witch cost twice as much. 😂😂
VALUE FOR MONEY 👍👍👍👍
Do more hunt videos I love watching.
Hello Craig,
Thanks for getting in touch with me, I’ve got a few things lined up for the next few weeks that I’ve already filmed, including a bumper day out yesterday with fellow shooter, Jim Wood. Jim spent the weekend with me and it’s fair to say that we had an action packed morning yesterday, that you may enjoy 👍👍
@@predatorprotectionukI look forward to watching I subscribe also.
@craigrichardson4641 thank you Craig 👍
Nice daylight image and video quality out of the Zulus.
It’s very good a night for close up stuff too
So that's why the woodland looked so tidy 😂😂 we had 10 yesterday, this cold weather is making them feed pard.
You’ve actually been there, and noticed my hoover propped against the tree 🙄🙄🤣
I knee Dyson did the animal hoover but had no idea until now what that meant 😅😂.
Good one
can I ask where you got your gloves from and the make thank you
Blimey Dave,
I’ve had them for years from Amazon I think
Just ordered zulus to replace my ATN 4K pro, which is good but bloody heavy
I hope you enjoy it, I’ve found it to be very good for close up stuff, both day and night 👍👍
🐿️💥🐿️
Dear sir, can I know if you had decreased the pressure for small game hunting or is the silencer just so quiet?
Moderator is very good
@@predatorprotectionuk I am using a Bushnell Deluxe Cal 4.5/177 silencer and it sounds like an elephant just farted...
Should I decrease the trigger spring a little bit (like half a turn) and do I have to zero it again?
@yeohszehow is try a much better moderator Delon
You got the pheasant for dinner but have you ever tried squirrel ? I think Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall had a recipe for squirrel stew .
Hi Eric,
We’ve eaten squirrels but a recipe adapted from a Fruit Bat recipe from the Philippines
@@predatorprotectionuk seems a shame to waste them , I believe the meat is low cholesterol so quite healthy.
He's got a leak 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Only a small one though
How would someone go about going on a squirrel hunt in the UK as a foreigner? I have tried looking online for paid information, but have only seen stag and bird hunts.
Where do you live Nick? Email me matey as it’s easier to chat, put your phone number on the email too 👍
David
@@predatorprotectionuk Ok!
could i ask: is the arken zulus capable of going on to a shotgun?
I really can’t imagine why on earth you would want to.
But you will need a picatinny rail on the rib of the gun matey.
@@predatorprotectionuk hahaha i mean is it shockproof? thanks mate
@mrdeadpool4177 I would think it’s capable of the usual rifle sizes matey
Don’t waste a warm one 😂😂😂😂😂
Top Tip eh 😀😀😀
You say you’re protecting Red Squirrels so are you in an area where Red Squirrels are proactive or are you shooting in a part of the country where there are no Red Squirrels but are removing the invasive species like the rest of us are doing in the hope that the Red Squirrels will return in the future.
Your header is very ambiguous so please clarify.
Does it really matter? Both need done to meet the goal of reintroducing and clearing habitat for the Reds to inhabit.
As my learned friend said. A bit of both. They’re here locally in a sanctuary, but used to be in the local woodland years ago.
Do you think its worth buying a air rifle if I live in london. I have a crap 10 yard garden and neighbours on all sides. 🤬 I had a tx200 in 2022 and I shooted it in my garden and my neighbour threatened to call the police so i sold it. What a dead life living in a city. most i can do is go to a air rifle club 1+ hour away but wheres the fun in that.
You think its worth buying a air rifle?
Wish i lived in a place like yours!
Hello chap, that’s a shame, as long as it’s safe to do so, and there’s a good backstop at the end of the garden, it’s not a problem for your neighbours.
You’re probably living next to Mr. & Mrs. Anti Gun by the sounds of it unfortunately
