    I cooked for 40 years without olive oil. I used butter, bacon grease, regular oil. No one has heart disease. Tomatoes , processed, are used in so much American food , it’s no wonder some CEOfigured out to skyrocket the price. Just like butter, bacon, ribs, oxtail, bríscate, …whatever. All these used to be poor people foods till they were made”special” by media. That’s all this is. There have always been bad weather, storms, bugs, disease, to up proces. Best to try to leave the video games and Netflix, and go outside and raise some food.

    I am not a picky eater so if some foods are not available I can eat something else.

    Oh what you need to say is the tariffs, the post office prices going up for the 6th time on shipping.... the port strike coming and cuts on checks will be the reason to buy,,,those flies are not rampant...

    I have never heard of Maple Cheerios. Is that a Canadian thing?
    On a side note. how about we stop watering our lawns and homeowner associations stop demanding that we have perfectly green lawns. It's a total waste of water. Golf courses in the desert? Waste of water. It's unbelievable how wasteful we are with water.

    This is ridiculously alarmist. Do you work for the grocery stores? Nope there are plenty of cans of tuna on the shelf

    Learn about the truth behind the problems with sriracha, the food company decided to back out of an agreement with the growers in Simi Valley and Moorpark/Somis in Ventura CA. And after screwing them out of an agreed-upon payment, then decided to take the farmers to court. Luckily the farmers won the lawsuit against them and counter sued. Sriracha is available from Underwood Farms, the original growers of the red jalapeños used.

    Up here in Quebec Province tomatoes grown in greenhouses are always available, though probably expensive by American standards. But I think that transportation costs of American or Mexican tomatoes probably even out the playing field.

      I would always choose hothouse vegetables to support locally grown items. I live near the Quebec border and buy Quebec vegetables, apples, and strawberries as much as possible.

    These things won’t be hard to find, they will however become extremely expensive. The main thing thaT I will struggle affording is fresh produce. Yes, I know…” Just grow your own “ . But I live in a densely populated city with a lot of city kitties …and a very brown thumb.

      Those suggestions on stock piling are slim to nothing products have expiration dates. Olive oil goes bad/ rancid in a matter of a few years.
      And tastes really bad.
      So, gotta learn to ajust your menu .

    One of the things that needs done is this, Simultaneously phase out both unemployment and Welfare and at same time establish a Permanent Works Progress Administration with the 5 key infrastructure projects in the following order, 1 electric grid 2 water supply ,3 sewage systems ,4 bridges ,5 roads. At same time the WPA employees will b paying taxes and pulling down paychecks. Instead of people sitting at home and creating nothing they would b creating much needed Infrastructure and paying taxes.with same monies

    I think that Gavin Newsom is more responsible for the loss of many items in this video because he's been letting the water in California go out to sea instead of sharing it with the valley where many items are grown.

      That’s so false!! The CA Aqueduct was full each time I’ve driven from Sac to Bakersfield. We in Northern CA have also been in drought conditions so can’t give you all of our water!!

      @patriciacyzauskas4067 I live in Northern California, too, but Newsom has been withholding water from the valley.

    • @annemarieritchie6741
      @annemarieritchie6741 День тому

      Actually Newsom supports the tunnel proposal to let water be diverted from the California Delta to the Southern California cities and Agri Business . Ignorant, people have been brain washed to believe that this water is being wasted by allowing it to flow through
      the Delta to the Bay and out to the Pacific. They are so stupid (or self centered) they can't understand how removing fresh water from the Delta will cause salt water intrusion far inland and destroy the natural balance of one of the world's largest and most vital ecosystems. Try to do a little reading on this before you make claims that areb180

    • @annemarieritchie6741
      @annemarieritchie6741 День тому

      @YvonneBerger-v5u Cities allow people to waste water to grow ridiculous lawns and corporate farms keep growing crop$ with irresponsible practices. There has been some improvement but not nearly enough. So they think the answer is to spread their disaster further North by sending fresh water from the Delta to the South. This has caused sea water to intrude into the inland areas already. The salinity of the rivers that flow out to the Bay has been increasing for years due to the drought and this will cause it to increase tenfold. We have seen sea lions inland as far as Discovery Bay. They are following salt water in search of food. Check a map and you'll see how far into the state that is. So no we should NOT be "sharing" a vital natural resource with the regions that have refused to manage their own. This would damage farmland in the North by causing the land to be polluted

    If you go old school u can go lard I'm 62 that's what was used in the past and it last a long time!!!@@😊

      I will admit to being ignorant in swapping lard for other well known cooking techniques. I’m 55, and don’t know that much about cooking. I was a shift worker, and never knew if my hours were going to be extended from 8 to 12 or 16. I ate at my station, and we usually ordered out. I’d love to learn more now, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful New Year.
