Great video! I can't help but compare the tens of thousands cheering on the winner in a 100 meter race that is finished in under 10 seconds, and then seeing this race with the difficulty and loneliness of runners enduring cold, pain in every part of one's body, fatigue, mental battles and so much more....and being greeted by just a few people in a dark and obscure setting. Epic! Congratulations on obliterating the previous course record!
Thank you, Heidi! Believe it or not I actually prefer the solitude. I was telling Eric that it was getting mentally easier for me the fewer people were out on course. I get easily distracted with the lots of runners around me and find it easier to focus and concentrate on what I need to be doing when I’m on my own. I definitely enjoy the crowd support though and the festival like atmosphere of the start/finish of every loop! Thanks for being out there and getting some great footage!
Love the video! It was great seeing you out there. Glad that you could use Heidi’s video footage. You are an inspiration! Congratulations on crushing the old LMS record!!!!
Hey Paul! Thank you so much for running with me and saying hi! Also, I really appreciate you watching the videos for so long! I hope we get to run together again soon!
Wow! I had no idea that many people were there. I thought Shakori was a big festival. Southern States is insane. Did you do any kind of run/walk intervals or just run/walk on feel? Amazing job man! You're an inspiration.
Thanks Matt! It was a great time! I didn’t do any formal intervals. I wanted to try to stay between 12:30-13:00 pace. I was finding that the 2nd half of each loop was harder than the 1st half so I was run/walking the 1st part at 12:00 pace and then allowing myself to slow down to around 13:00 pace for the 2nd half which worked out to be a pretty even effort. In typical MountTinMan fashion I tried not to do any more than I needed to. 🤣
Finally got around to watching this even though I saw most of it in person. Fun times... you've almost convinced me to sign up next year. almost 🤣
Thanks, Kory! It’d be awesome to have you out there next year!
