My long awaited (by me, at least) project is finally complete.
After weeks of upgrading my computer and optimizing it, and then a week of work, I've finally completed this. The reason it's so important to me? Well, first of all, I hadn't made an original video in a long time. Second of all, this is supposedly the best video I've ever made to date. But 3rd, and most importantly, it it the product of my imagination.
At least half the shots you will see in this movie I originally imagined instantly as I listened to the song for the first time. This means I had to work to recreate these shots just the way I saw them in my head - and for the most part, it worked. In fact, some shots I thought were impossible to make.
I proved myself wrong.
With this I declare my leave from ArmA 2, and I will not be making any more videos for some time. I'll now begin studying something else, but ArmA 2 has certainly given me a lot of great time and allowed me to do what I have more passion for than anything else.
I hope you all enjoy it. This video cost me $300+ to make - and thanks to everyone who helped me out with tweaking and optimizing my computer.

UPDATE: It looks like some people have been wondering what did I do to get the shots. I did use AttachTo for maybe 2 or 3 shots, and I did some other shots by hand. However some other shots I did using Norrin's camera script - check it out here: forums.bistudio.com/showpost.p...
Be aware that it has a tough learning curve and is a little tedious to use - it wasn't all just rainbows and butterflies getting the shots. Also I had to use some really innovative ways of getting the AI to do something that they normally wouldn't do - because this script can only be used to track AI or yourself only if you're an infantry unit.
Update 2: Some people seem to be thinking I'm leaving video editing completely. That isn't what I meant; I am moving on to learn CryEngine 2 for some time as I'll be using it to work on something really big this summer. However I don't think I'm leaving ArmA 2 forever, I can tell you that. - Ігри
Finally find this video again, fiuuu.
Amazing film, really very well put together and edited. I composed the music and it gives me a fantastic buzz when I see my stuff being used to such good effect. Thanks to all those who said they liked my track too, it's called 'Sacrifice', features the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and me on drums, was recorded at Abbey Road, and is available through Audio Network.

@Litoshq If you're talking about the plane visible in 2:26 its a SU-34.
FYI is neither the SU-34 nor the SU-25 multipurpose planes, they are both dedicated anti ground platforms. Soviet and Russian airplane designers usually implemented their other fighters such as the MiG-29 and SU-27 (and derivatives) as multipurpose planes being both air to air and air to ground capable. :)
And the stealth,, Ragdolls, Physics, under water environments, lighting and weapon customization just to name a few :P
Arma 2 (pre AO) was probably the most complete and perfect game I ever played. It's just a game, but damn does it hold a special place in my heart.
The A-10 is equipped with air-to-air missiles for a reason ya know.....

@Litoshq It's a Sukhoi Su-34... It's a 2 seater bomber. It can also pwn in dogfights because it carries Sidewinders and has Canards and a similar design to the Su-33. The A-10 pilot would NEVER get into a dogfight, or think of firing at a jet. If it did, he would get in trouble. The A-10 is designed for ground support only, and it would have fighter support incase the A-10 ran into such trouble.
Wow! That was an awsome video! You must have put tons of work into it, scripting and all. The dramatic music and effects go really well together. Awsome! Ever since i started playing Arma2 i also have ideas for short movies floating in my head, gotta learn how to script now. Btw not to be a dick or anything but I think A-10 is a ground support aircraft by definition and it doesnt really make sense that it took out a Su-35. Still I really enjoyed your vid! GJ!

One thing I can tell you about the A-10. The majority of it's fuselage houses that monster of a chin gun. I guess it is true. "The A-10 Warthog: A plane mounted on a gun" =)

@Litoshq He's actually almost right. That's a SU-34, which is in fact a pretty new plane. However in reality its a longrange fighterbomber, but more of a bomber. Behind the 2 pilotseats theres a tiny kitchen and toilet for long-range missions.

@Litoshq Have you tried? I think you might be surprised. Earl Llaanamen(sp?) started making weapons for B.I. games when lots of us noticed his weapon packs for Ghost Recon. I personally recommended him to the Brothers Spanel, as did at least one other person.
@JLennon1998 it's actually a su-25, a multipurpose plane. You know something interesting? In the game, I had to fake the dogfight. If i put an a10 behind a su25, the a10 wouldnt shoot for nothing. If I put them in the vice versa order, the su-25 would murder the a10 in 3 seconds. I wasnt sure why, maybe because the a10 thinks its more fit for ground targets, but either way I had to fake it lol...took me an extra 15 minutes but oh well.
@Litoshq If you wanted this video to be more realistic, the A-10 would have fighter support that would take out the enemy jets. The A-10 is meant for ONLY ground support.

No, the plane in the video is not an Su-25. Its a 37 alright. I would recognise it anyway but the Su-24 in ArmA 2 is brown. This one is blue.
How do you go about getting camera shake in Sony Vegas? Are you using the Pan/Crop tool?

@Litoshq The aircraft the A10 shot down isnt a SU-25, I believe its a Mig-29 or even more advanced.

Can I ask what camera tool you used? I have been looking for a nice camera tool to make my own vids with but it is impossible. The best I have come across is the camera.sqf and that is really not great and very limited. (not to mention the crossair in the middle >.

@soulshrine First of all, it's true this isn't a game for flying the physics are pretty crappy for flying actually. Second of all, it's not made to even be a big pilot game. That doesn't mean you can't have fun on ArmA2 with aircraft, that's my favorite too! So next time, instead of being ignorant think of it that way, thank you for reading this lecture. LOL
Oh yeah, although it might not be easy with limited resources. But damn, I'm excited for the new animations.

@2:28 on the other hand I do see something like an Su-25 with smoke comming out of it flying in the top left corner. Did you perhaps mix them up or is that the A-10 already smoking? :-P

How do you make the terrain and buildings look so nice when the shots are from high in the sky? In my game, even on max settings, and I have a decent card, it looks trashy from that high, are you running it through some filters and blur?

@Litoshq It's actually the Su-34. The scenario is pretty fake. In real life the Su-34 would shoot down the A-10 because the A-10 is a really old plane (first models were from the 1970s I believe) that can't maneuver that well and its weapons are not fit for engaging air targets because the airplane is meant to provide close air support against ground targets.
@hotshot0101 What if they don't capture you or some friendly forces rescue you? What if the enemy is really nice and treat you kindly, or they just let you go? What if you have a nice loving family waiting for you to come home? Any way, you won't know what will happen if you're dead.
may i ask a question (hope it's not stupid)... since i don't have the game i don't know every single feature so i ask if the weather (grey clouds and lightnings) is a mod or it's a default feature that comes with the game?

You need a pretty powerful PC in order to play this game apparently. I had just downloaded the Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead demo, and it basically labeled my GeForce 6150se a piece of shit.... The game did play but with horrible frames, like 5 frames per second. Hope you luckier people with decent rigs are enjoying yourselves.

@dekster14LP Agreed i love simulators and this one is the best one i have ever played! As you said it just unique and in my opinion BF2 or COD just does not cut it for me yes they are fun but this is as close to realism as it can get to put things simply if you computer can handle this game get it you will not regret it
