This man really just casually said "yeah 14 consecutive wins" *bruh*
Lmao 14 likes to
He placed top 10 in the world cup 7 times, it isn't surprising he was #1 in Norway.
@@danieljensen2626 holy shit I didn't know that. That's incredible!
And after flashing that run he says he's not in shape. :(
Well he was even one of the top 10 best climbers in the world when he was at his best
I want to see Magnus go do some of those carnival walls that offer money if you can complete them.
Great video idea!
Support
I could do 2 of those that I have tried. And I am only a 7a+ climber. They know actual climbers can often complete them even in everyday shoes. But they make enough money off people who never climb that they still turn a profit.
The higher the prize money the more likely it is to be rigged though. Even one of the ones I did they had put some sort of lubricant on the holds about 3/4 of the way up. They could never be as slippery as they were otherwise. I could only complete that one due to being rather tall and just barely being able to reach to the next hold which they didn't seem to have done anything to. A buddy of mine tried it a few days later and he told me that the hold I used also seemed to have been messed with when he did it.
@@Daemonioros can you use chalk, still? xD If so, chalk would help thicken that lube actually making it sticky for a better grip.
@@CapMan275 unfortunately they ban you from using chalk.
the edit with the difficulty on the wall is really sick.
The guy that did it was Markus Skaane
@@llamaking1011 I always liked the editing of Skaane :)
That last boulder was aesthetically beautiful. That is the kind of boulder built to give great climbers a chance to show off.
Well said 🤝
I liked that one too
I’m seeing a shark. Second last blue boulder.
Grade graphics looking smooth
right, was just about to comment the same. magnus/markus, the production quality is getting getting sooo good !!!
what's improved is placement IMO, it's really close to where you are actually focused, so you see it right away unlike before.
@@thomasgrun3731 thank you!
does someone know how to fix the graphics like that to one Position, so that they aren't moving with the camera movement at all?
@@Foxmathok 3d tracker and set it to a point so it stays there even while camera moves its gonna be as if it was part of the recording
Me: working on a v6 for 2hrs and not getting it
Magnus: time to warm up, oh look an 8
V6? Thats me with a v4 lol
@@thomasglavin4220 I tried a v2 for over an hour yesterday and couldn't get it lmao
kay finally someone the same level
@@uiofinder Hey! I have progressed a good amount since i posted that! I'm more drawn to sport climbing and can do 5.10 pretty comfortably. Keep working on it :)
kay I started about 2 months ago right at the start of January. I don’t really like bouldering that much and can do v1 consistently. I prefer climbing heights with a rope and can climb 5.9 usually and completed a 5.10- one week before March and one week before the corona virus closed the gyms in Ontario along with most other stores. I went once a week. When did you start and what bouldering level are u at? Also what is the hardest you climbed.
Thank you and make sure to try and train at home on stairs or climbing a tree outside. :D
If climbing shirtless was allowed in competitions Magnus would never lose one
Dear Magnus,
I just wanted to thank you for your great videos and showing us what real passion looks like. You motivated me to change something in my life and finally do sports again. I finally start to feel more comfortable in my own body. I hope that you'll keep up the great work and I wish you all the best.
Tusen takk for alt
Beautiful 💖💕🌷🌳🍃
💜 I'm so glad you've found your way back to what you love and what speaks to your heart. Magnus is an amazing person in so many ways and I am really inspired by how he not only continues to focus on his love of climbing, but is also branching out to learn (and do his best at) as many new things as he can! I may have been introduced to him by Jujimufu & Tom, but I've stayed with him through his ups and downs, adventures and rainy day vlogs, because of the honestly amazing person he is.
I hope your future is bright and brings you all that you need and that you find more and more ways to grow into the person that makes you happy, content, and comfortable with all the parts that make up you! 💜
The comp route wasn't even worth him taking his shirt off
He takes his shirt off on a 7a boulder, 8b sport was well worth it.
You are not allowed to take your shirt off in official comps
Shirt off two grades easier, common knowledge
@Nathaniel Rios because you might scare competitors to total failure

Hey Magnus, fan in Santa Cruz (Just an hour and a half south of San Francisco).
If you want to go outside, there's Yosemite of course, but if you want something closer, there is Pinnacles National Park (2 hours south) or even Castle Rock State Park (1 hour south of downtown SF). Castle Rock has a bunch of fun Boulders and a very easy walk. It can get a little crowded during the weekend though.
Also, if you have the time, consider dropping by Pacific Edge Climbing Gym in Santa Cruz. It's the oldest climbing gym in California (1993).
why this comment not get more likes?
Second these suggestions. Also consider, Bishop and the Owens River Gorge for the highest concentration of sport routes in CA and one of the hardest sport routes in CA “Everything is Karate.” For really good blue streaked limestone sport routes, consider going up the coast to Cecilville Bluffs or Marble Caves. For John Sherman’s old stomping grounds, go boulder in Berkeley. Boulders up to V12 and very close to SF.
I live in the South Bay and I 100% agree with this assessment. Yosemite will see some snow this week, so kinda bad luck there but there are few better places to spend a weekend no matter the weather. Bouldering in Castle Rock is a blast for sure. The only crag I would add is the Gold Wall in Sonora. Great sport climbing and not too crowded.
@@David-os7cg Bishop is 6 hours from SF that's like traveling across Norway :P
So true lol! Maybe relative to the flight from Norway an extra six hours wouldn’t be too bad? Plus finding something that will challenge Magnus isn’t easy!
For context, in the championship only one guy topped out that route. Magnus could have won
He didn't do the second to last clip.
@@constanceelaine3909 what you mean
@@realityofimagination you clip your rope while climbing. He skipped the second to last clip.
@@lordchampion2724 Is that penalized?

Bro. You were on a 5.13d for 4 + minutes and you came down speaking coherently. THAT'S INSANE. WHAT IS YOUR ENDURANCE?!?!?!
24:32 give that route setter a RAISE!
Agreed!! That movement off the toe hooks was lush!
Ha ha ha ha ha true XD
Yeah that was fuckin beautiful.

@@NickB-zc2kq what route setter?
I love the move on the last 7B red. It looks so cool 😎
I'm actually angry watching him calmly supporting his whole weight with one hand, while upside down. He truly is a superhuman I love this man.
Anyone else binging Magnus videos through quarantine?
Great video great filming.
For the algorithm.
24:43 excuse me wtf???
He just wanted to stop for a second and do some acrobatics :)
how many people can do that ???!!!
Just Magnus being Magnus. :)
same thing came to mind! Magnus is a F**** machine!!

Bro, just climb. Is nice.
just climb u like u like
very good price for you my friend
I don't understand how someone could watch Magnus and not want to climb.
@@spiffo5349 i like to but the first climbing wall is like 40 min drive from here you can only learn it one day i work and i don't have mountains in my country
Would love to see you casually do some competitions. Not getting stressed training for it. Just participating for fun and to keep tabs on your limits.
He wont be able to . He is a competitive person and will get stressed even if he doesn't want to. Unfortunate and indelible side effect.
@@aglaycock1 Yeah as soon as you start to just "casually" compete, then your instincts kick in, and you'll want to improve.
For a high ranked compeition climber it's very difficult to climb relaxed at a lower level. He will learn it when he get's older, because then he has a natural reason to be not so competitive anymore.
I think the only way you would not be stressed about it is doing the routes outside of q competition environment. Especially for someone who competes at a level like Magnus, there's not much point in doing it unless you're going to try your hardest to win
@@jonnes__4657 i think it's less about being competitive but rather getting frustrated that you aren't able to do something you know you could do.
"I'm so weak from not climbing competitive" proceeds to climb a 5.13
well at the top of his game he climbs 5.15b so lets hope he can crush a 13d on site
To be fair 5.13d is really easy for him relatively speaking, he's onsighted 5.14c before.
That's fair. I know its not crazy hard for a pro but it's still pretty damn good for someone who hasn't been pushing themselves super hard climbing. Based on his workouts he is strong enough he just needs to get into climbing the really high tier stuff again.
It’s all relative. 6b is easy for someone who can climb 7a, 8b is easy for Magnus as he has climbed well into the 9’s.
true i mean he has red pointed a 9b though
I have a new appreciation for these videos after my first ever attempt at bouldering last night. Started with V0 which I thought would be impossible to fail at but even those required problem-solving and some strength. I was grateful to have picked up a little bit of technique from watching these videos for so long. Now if only I could see a "normal girl" style video where the normal girl actually starts from nothing and isn't a secret climbing prodigy!
Keep going! I think for a total beginner the best thing is to just keep practicing. Make sure your shoes fit (tightly) and to practice your falls.
You won’t need fancy technique like hooks, dropknees, kneebars etc. for beginner routes.
Yeah, what the other dude said. I haven't bouldered in ages but I started up again recently- I can pretty easily send V3-4 problems on vertical walls as a warm-up, but that's because I've been strength training for a few months prior and just have some decent explosive energy. The best part about climbing is that everyone has different skills, and all you have to do to improve is climb- So keep at it!
Wow the blue boulder is actually a real lesson of how perseverance and stubbornness can get you through some tough problems. Very inspiring Magnus!
I just want to say that I really appreciate the route grade animations you included on boulder problems! It added a nice "finished" look to your video.
This one was one of the vids I enjoyed the most in recent times, at least when it came to the climbing part!
The lead part was cool and seeing Magnus struggle on the blue boulder but staying at it and figuring it out in the end really had a nice payoff :)
"One shot, one kill."
Okay 👏
I heard it as "One Chalk, One Kill" :D
Brad's favourite dialogue
The background music and the editing made this video so good. This is one of my top ten videos of the year for sure.
You sir make this look so easy. Professional goodness all the way.
I just recently found your UA-cam channel and I’m actually so proud of what you’re doing it’s insane and it’s nice to see people that have reached so much in their lives you’re a good man and I wish you all the best keep it up everything you’re doing is mind blowing and seems to be impossible
Love that you never quit on a problem! Super inspirational
I've never been interested in any type of climbing, until I stumbled upon your videos. Thank you for the entertaining content.
When he talks about route setters, it seems like they are some kind of gods looking down on us.
They are
Dude your videos are very calming. When I am anxiost like right now and cant sleep they are perfect to calm me down !
I think I like to see you think your way through a tough boulder. Your tenacity is what makes you such an amazing climber. You want to solve the problem and I love seeing your process.
ONE SHOT ONE KILL! HELL YEAH Magnus!! You’re a freak of nature! Extremely talented
That last boulder was so clean holy God ehhh holy magnus...
Your videos are so enjoyable to watch. The camerawork offers great angles and changing views of the climbing. Also enjoy the graphics and subtle music, slow-mo at times and just enough commentary discussion. Also appreciate the editing. Please keep them coming. Your videos are such a great positive time during this Co-Vid isolation. Thank you.
Hello Magnus, I just want to tell you this. I found your channel by accident aprox. month ago, and now i started climbing in our local gym. This Thuesday I am goin on my 3th session. I have to be honnest, this is fun :) so thanks for showing me my new hoby (even if i am terrible :D)

Really rad that you get to beta test these epic comp routes. As well as give feed back to setters to potentially adjust for functionality. Cool perspective. Thank you. 🤘
that foot hook spin move was dope
I started watching your channel shortly after your comp video two years ago. Awesome to see how far you’ve come on UA-cam. I still wish you’d give us one last comp.
Really glad you didn't give up on the blue 7B+ problem, I kept getting anxious that you would chalk it up to pump and give up, but it was satisfying to see you send it. Never give up!
After watching magnus now for 2 years... I tried bouldering for the first time today. And daaaaaamn its so hard. I couldn't go further than 6b. I tried a 6b+ but at that time my arms and fingers hurted like crazy. It makes you appreciate magnus skills and videos far more. So thank you!

Great to see you in the gym and strong as ever. Would be interesting to see you compete again
The best route setters!!! all the finale routes were super precise level.
LIked it before watching it. KEEP IT GOING MAGNUS!
Loved watching an expert struggle to figure out a route and then topping it. So smooth man.
Really fun seeing you flash the competition route and then struggle so much with that blue 7B+. Magnus never gives up!
Such a genuine guy!
You know the level Magnus is at when he says they'd probably change the route if he found it too hard, despite being out the comp game for several years. That is a level of skill and respect few ever achieve. Love the videos Magnus, I hope you never stop.
More so that they have him come in and test it.
this is a fascinating channel, no ability to do these things but a man of this much dedication is just fascinating. Great vids and greetings from Denmark
"Had to come in really early" Magnus at half past 9
Magnus, aside from your awesome climb skills, I love the lo-fi music you have on your videos. They're so chill to what and enjoy, thank you!
Good to see you sport climbing again! I see, despite not training for routes, you still crush! Nice on-sight!!!
Well done man, the lead route was so nice to watch.
Beautiful shots!!
It's videos like these that give a real sense of awe for Magnus 😂
Even if you dont get to climb, Yosemite is a must see. You cant even comprehend how beautiful and big el cap and half dome are. Its amazing

Awesome, edit Markus. Awesome Climbing, Magnus. Could definitely see you got amped up from onsighting that route. You went at those last few boulders with gusto!
Great video Magnus! For the record, if you wanted too compete for fun again - I'd definitely watch that!

Hey Magnus, I wanted to thank you so much for introducing me to bouldering... Today I went to a gym climb to try it out and it was so much fun! I´ve even achieved to climb a 6a after hours of failing haha dunno what grade it is on the V-scale but I think it was at least a bit harder than V0 or sth xD I´m playing with the idea of quitting smoking and you´re my motivation, so much love from Austria and I´ll definitely buy your chalk bag when the the time comes ;)
Love the content
Love the new grade type effect
That was nuts; I'm impressed.
Nice to see you struggle a bits on the blue boulder after crushing the finals route!
And good to know that you once again would have won NM easily!

Love the music in this vid :)
Hes so chill man
You should check out Yosemite if weather is good, and do the classic boulders at camp 4
Wow all the holes in the wall are perfect for motion tracking that text on there
Oh gosh! That boulder on 24:32 looks dope!
You are such an inspiration for me! I am a 15 y/o Dutch girl, climbing for almost three years now (bouldering). I fell in love with the Norway in summer of 2018 and since then my goal is to live in norway and to climb there. I found your UA-cam a few months ago and I would love to climb in Oslo!!! Do you have any tips for me to get better and stronger? I would love to meet you sometimes :) I plan to be an au pair in Oslo after my graduation. I hop I can fullfill my dream and become better in climbing!
That sounds really awesome and Magnus is definitely an inspiration to so many! He talks about how to improve as a climber in multiple of his previous videos (I'm not sure how long ago because once I found him, I went back and watched them all!!!) and he's always said that the way to improve in climbing is to: 1) keep climbing, 2) to push yourself and not give up when you fail, and 3) something that was very important to his own growth: always climb with people who are better than you because you are constantly learning from them and they are constantly pushing you to succeed.
Magnus is also very naturally talented in his flexibility and never really getting injured, but not everyone has those natural talents, so you have to learn and know your body to find out what type of warmups and flexibility training/stretching you will need to do. He's also emphasized in the past about how being in competitive climbing, like in any sport, can lead to body dysmorphia and very bad eating habits; that will also be something important to learn about now so that you can learn to avoid these issues and recognize the symptoms when/if they begin and how to stop it early on.
Finally, he has a couple of videos talking about appropriate climbing shoes (that aren't just advertisements) that help you understand what type of shoe is better for the different climbing situations and the climber's ability. While I'm sure it is technically possible to climb in a myriad of shoes or just rent some when you go to a climbing gym, since you want to progress in the sport, it might be a good idea to learn about the differences in shoes now so that you'll know what you want to get when you're able to.
I know I'm not Magnus, but I have heard him answer these questions multiple times in the past and since he's currently on a trip to the US, I wanted to try and answer you with as much of his knowledge as I can remember off the top of my head before your wonderful comment became lost in a sea of other comments.
I truly wish you all the best with your awesome future and I hope you get to meet Magnus one day!!! 💜💜💜

"easy 8b all the way" ok... fine
I don't know if you are taking him to mean that it's easy? I don't think thats what he is saying. I think he is saying 'easy 8b' as in only just an 8b, a bit tougher than an 8a+ but not as tough as many 8b routes. So he's commenting on the route level not on how close to his limit he is.
Nice work! My picture is me finishing the climb on the crag just to the east of El Cap. I flew into SFO and drove to Yosemite. It was worth it! Lots of people are saying El Cap. You can definitely crush there! I’d say go for it 💪🏽
