I have built a lot of these trucks. The cheapest combo is a hobby wing 1060, RC4WD 80T, GT power GT/134 Light /sound kit, the cheapest servos you can find (these trucks take no power to turn) and a hacked flysky GT3B or C and 6 channel FS-R6B receiver. For a trailer you can buy metal trailer axles (120MM) from banggood for $9 each and build your own for less than $60. Don't forget to mod your steering to turn sharper, it's free and simple.
Just finished my first King hauler build. I went into it knowing I would not be paying for an MFC. I've gone for an Arduino nano on the lights. Still looking into sound options. Most likely going to be in Arduino Uno for that has already have it here. Building my trailer from scratch though. I do have a mill and a lathe in my shop as well as multiple 3D printers. Glad to see that there's others out there who don't want to pay for the MFC. I've had a hard time finding other channels besides hobby concepts that do these trucks and he is very big into all tamiyas expensive items what a great video! Will definitely be subscribing
I also went with the for lack of a better word pistol, grip style radio. The radio link RC8X give me the extra channels to run all the arduino's and whatnot. However, I have seen very many people complain about that. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who chose not to go buy a special type of radio for a truck
Hello, new to your channel and think its great. The build so far is excellent. I totally agree about the extra expence of the Tamiya MFC sound/light unit. I bought one for my Scania (first truck build) and after installing it and watching vids on trucks it could have been done much cheaper. The money on the MFC could almost buy another kit! Will be watching for any updates
I just ordered the black one and controller package for $615. I wished I would have seen your video sooner lol. I do have that orange flysky remote. Good remotes
Regardless, you'll enjoy that build. I had a ton of fun building this one. And kudos on the Flysky....lol My buddy that owns the hobby shop in town HATES my radio, but hey, I stick with what works! Enjoy that rig, dude.
Appreciate the content and the list of things you used a lot of guys go mad scale and everything metal and the price tags just blow up I’m building my own with parts from all over definitely need to get me one of those full kits really nice paint job.
I just picked up the Tamiya Grand Hauler, Fasteddy Full ball bearing set & the MFC01 kit for a total of $557.00 USD for all three with tax and shipping....
Hello from Norway😊. I just saw this video, and liked what i saw and heard when it comes to cost. Have some "friends" and they go mad with lights and sound 🙃.I was looking for you`re update on the sound kit,but couldn`t find it? Did you make a video? Thank you anyway 🎮👍
No I didn't. I posted pictures of the truck online in one of the groups that I'm in and a fellow from Texas messaged me. He said that he "had to have it" and made me a ridiculous offer on it. So I sold her. And I've hated it ever since. But I'm definitely building another one soon.
amazing video and good color on this truck i like it But this truck comes 3speed you need square radio like FS i6x At least not gun radio i have tamiya king hauler with FS i6x its kool on it well thx bud .. cheers.🍺
@@Mavv.err.ickk506 good idea💡 4me i love any rc from tamiya 3speed i must install FS i6x on it like tundra or bruiser or king hauler about the gun radio i use it just 4 normal rc traxxas or hpi thx again my mate have a good day😉
I purchase a RTR Grand Hauler for 700 with a trailer, no lights. I bought the sound box, and the tx/rx from the hobby guy, who did not want to help me adjust the end points. He would ignore my emails for assistance. he is a Control Freak. But I love my truck and I figured it out after a few videos. He can go kick rock, I will not ever buy anything from him again. But I like my truck, just don't have the room to play with it right now. Soon I will have a huge garage.
@@Mavv.err.ickk506 tell me about it, I bought lesus alloy chassis braces GPM steering upgrades. I've a beier SFR-1 Esc, LEDs,wire and resistors. Long term build project, but I am enjoying it.
There's a company fitting semis with the toyan fs l200 engine , I think the 4 cylinder would work well with this hauler , its water cooled and would give scale speed .
You'll need: 2 servos...1 for steering, 1 to shift gears. Radio/controller. Receiver Speed control Battery Paint if you choose to change the color. Build tools Time...lol
I found a Globliner partially built on market place for $290. But a hobbywing 1060 in and a ebay cheap light kit and paired it with a stick flysky radio. What do you plan to use for sound? I also did not want to add a mfu for the same reason. If I was to spend id get a Beier SFR-1.
I cant remember the name of the system but it's like $80.00 I'll call Otto tomorrow and get the name of it. It's alot more compact than the Tamiya MFU too. The speaker would fit in the hood area of a grand hauler or king hauler so that was one reason i want to use it. Hey good score on your Globe Liner. That's a great price. It's actually what i was wanting to build originally.
It doesn’t come with the sounds? Kind of a let down was looking forward for the sound but I support your opinion, for now I might just keep it without sound, and where I’m a bit older or something I’ll maybe buy the MFC and add it, because right now I don’t want a big budget and I want less steps, j think that’s this is a good idea, so thanks for sharing because I don’t she’s to spend as much any more or deal with more steps. I'm fitting the brier SFR-1 to my grand hauler, the beauty mod the hobbit is you spend as much or as little as you want. So much choice out there.
I know, right? These things can become a money pit!
