Love this! I did it on a solid wood TV tray and painted the bottom white. Sits next to my sewing table and gives me some extra table space when I need it.
What a great idea!! Thank you for sharing it.
I like to add some non-slip drawer liner to the bottom so it doesn't slide around on smoother tables. I've made quite a few of these, and they're GREAT to have in a bunch of sizes!
A cautionary tale - prewash the fabric for the board WELL. I used a fabric that was SOOOO cute, and it made me very happy on my ironing station. Then, I went to spray starch and press some seams, and the fabric on my board bled all over my piece-work!!! So - 1) test the fabric you want to use to see if it bleeds at all; 2) prewash the fabric in as hot a water as you think it can stand, and dry it well in a dryer before you staple it on your board :)
I found out the hard way that my ironing board cover would bleed onto my quilt top 😒
I dont mean to be off topic but does anyone know a method to get back into an Instagram account?
I was stupid lost the login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Raylan Jaxton Instablaster :)
@Reyansh Holden i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Reyansh Holden it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my ass !
Thanks a lot 🌺🌸 it’s easy to make and it looks neat. I also like the felt on the back so it protects the table.
Love it. Making myself one today . Thank you so much for sharing
I made one of these several years ago and I love it. Different sizes for different needs are always great to have. Everybody could use a board like this. Going to make a smaller one to keep by my sewing machine to press as I go. Happy Week! 🌼🐝🌼
I made one with a thin towel instead of batting. It fit inside a pillowcase so I used that as the outer layer for awhile, but recently I bought some silver aluminized cotton for ironing boards at JoAnn, found in the utility fabric section. (They also sell a quilted fabric for ironing boards but I wanted the thin fabric for sharper pressing.) It reflects the heat back up so I usually don’t have to flip the fabric over and iron both sides, even when it’s slightly damp from the washer’s spin dry. I love it! It’s not as cute as a
cotton print but if you want it to look cute when not in use then you can make a slipcover for it.
Glue a cutting mat on the back.
Such a handy item for us all and so easy. Thankyou
Great project! I need to make one of those. Thank you for sharing 😊😎🤠
I made 2 types of pressing board I have one that's oak covered in material but with only a thin piece of flannel in between this helps in making sharp seams especially when use with a tailors clapper. I also made one for ironing (wider then my ironing board) for pressing and starching. I love my oak one for applique its only about 12×18".
Sew fun!❤️ I can’t wait to make one!
Mind blown. Lol I had no idea it could be that easy
What can be used if not wood? Can a two layers of foam board be used? Will it impact?
You can use anything that is heat resistant. If not using wood, maybe chipboard or MDF, though I would definitely recommend trying Insulbright between the fabric and the hard layer: www.fatquartershop.com/insul-bright-needle-punched-insulated-lining-45-1-yard
Fat Quarter Shop thank you
Adorei a ideia! E deu para ver como se divertiram a utilizar o agrafador uma ferramenta um tanto ou quanto bem diferente da do dia á dia que costumam utilizar, a máquina de costura, adorei assistir até se portaram muito bem, parabéns! AH! AH!
Just a heads up that is literally the worst and most dangerous staple gun on the market so I would recommend not getting that particular one.
