Wow what a brilliant family & I hope the business goes from strength to strength 🤗👍
Nice to see a Family rather than a corporation owning a piece of our history. It’s obvious that they’re enthusiastic about their business and it’s place within the community. Good luck to them and another great upload Tim.
Wow what hard work I take my hat off to this family I have experience in leisure and catering and know how hard it can be what a fantastic job they are making of what is essentially a traditional British seaside heritage well done 👍
Well said
I agree
What this family do enhances the seaside family experience, Tim. I fully appreciate the good work these guys do (Including drilling into pineapples 😅 ) I shall be paying a visit when I head to East Anglia in a few days time. 👍
Well said!
I live in Lowestoft, and we're constantly being described as an "up and coming town", and none of us see it. But theres thingS like this that really makes you believe it could happen. Great work guys, keep up the great work!
I moved to lowestoft in 97 and I’d say it’s 'come up’ a fair bit since then. The whole area of Horn hill was a right dive, derelict buildings, the glue pot etc. London road south even though it’s still a bit of an eyesore isn’t half as bad as it used to be and many of the old boarded up buildings/squats have been turned into flats. The ongoing work around the harbour (new wall/fencing) looks like when it’s completed will be a lot more pleasing on the eye than the old grey industrial 8ft fence that surrounded it before. The new beach huts may not be to everyones taste but personally I think they look great. With the gull wing bridge nearing completion and the other future plans with the train station, Royal green and the old Wilkinsons car park I think the future of Lowestoft is looking fairly bright. The Claremont has been crying out for years for someone to pick it up and run with it as it has history and potential so it’s great to finally see a family with so much enthusiasm doing exactly that.
@@trainwreck8549 ah but we are getting some new shops down commercial road and restaurants
Fabulous to see the enthusiasm to get things great again and they are really getting there!
agree Louise
Great seeing all the behind the scenes stuff with your guide Victoria. So nice to see the enthusiasm of the family wanting to restore it. Storm and fire tend to be the enemies of many lost piers in the country.
I know , I think they will do great things
What a lovely Family
As a Lowestoft resident I’ve been really impressed with how they have improved the pier, looking forward to seeing their plans for the future come to fruition and wish them all the best with it
Hope the pier does fantastically well for the family 😊
Hi Tim. It was really interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes in Lowerstoft pier. I hope they are successful in restoring it back to its heyday.
agree
English Heritage and the National Lottery should be helping with this, although EH aren't interested in anything until it falls down AND then stop you from developing a condemned site.
Hats off to this family for taking on the pier, and wanting to save the end part.
Yes we need to save our piers
Incredible video..I live 15 mins walk away and never realised, looking from the outside, just how big it is inside. It's like the Tardis..Big thanks to the Mayne family for injecting some well needed excitement of recovery into Lowestoft that has suffered much recently and hope all your future plans pan out, for yourselves and the Town.👍
What a amazing family I really hope they succeed 💕
:-)
Hi Tim, great to see a family run pier, I'd like to wish the family all the best for the future with the pier, great video thanks 👍👍
Thanks Eve
What a brilliant British entrepreneurial family 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍 great video as usual Tim and I hope the oxygen of publicity does them well 😎
Thanks chris, yes let's hope
Great pier video and great to see a family working so hard to ensure its future.
agree barry
Five donuts for £3.50? Not bad for a bag of seaside donuts. I've seen them a whole lot more expensive in other resorts. I'll have ten. I lived in Lowestoft for a while and it was dire. It is people like this who will be instrumental in bringing it back to life. This is a classic case of investment for the good of a town and I wonder how much a grant the council donated. How ever much it was, it was not enough. There is no short term gain to be had in taking on something like this and it will take many many years before the benefits will be realised. Kudos to the family.
Fantastic family, the oldest son Ernie is missing from this video though and he is the Mayne man!
Wembley68
What an incredible insight. Well done to the family 👏
Thanks for watching
Beautiful spot to have a wee holiday if your not into massive crowds that you can’t see the beach 🏖
Absolutely
Well done tim great to see a local business embracing a bit of promotion puts a face to the company hopefully others will be knocking your door down for a chance to walk with Tim
:-)
Loved this little insight Tim, lovely family and they've worked hard to get it this far, you'll have to go back when it's finished, . Thanks 😁
I will defently
Wow, thanks for bringing us a great story, Tim. It's brilliant when a plan comes together, and for a family to buy a bit of British history to "keep it in the family" as such. I wish them all the best and hope they make a great go of it!
Thanks Nellie
Hi Tim, I for one like many other's, do appreciate all the work going into the pair, as I've said before they are a lovely family, wish they did own the beach we would have a lot more 😊 keep up with the Brilliant work 👍 🙏
Well said
I love that the subtitles changed Lowestoft to Lowest Stuff 😆 when you're visiting from Norwich, you're going to Lew-stuft.
What a great video. I visisited lots of the piers up that part of the coast a few months ago (thanks to this channel) and Claremont was by far my favourite. The arcade was really good and the doughnuts were extremely tasty! It's lovely to see a family owned business making such an impact.
Have to agree as well, the beach is awesome, lovely to walk on and feels like it could be in Florida or somewhere. All the little shops on London Road and the Kensington Gardens just make it a nice place to spend time in general.
Hopefully they manage to fund the restoration of the rest of the pier and I look forward to visiting again at some point after watching this behind the scenes video.
wow i live in the town and haven’t been there in so long,
this video has made me want to go back and take the kids in there for the day.
fair play to the family for really investing in the place looks fantastic .
great video Tim.
really looks amazing 👌🏽
Thanks for giving it a watch
The amount of money the family must have invested in buying and renovating a great British seaside tradition is to be applauded.
What about the National lottery funding helping them restore the rest of the pier ?
Great video Tim and a bit different, very enjoyable. 👍
Thanks Nigel
Legends, I've heard Ernie is the real brains behind the whole operation. Can't wait to come visit when I run the Suffolk Coastal Path 50K.
I bet u will need a drink lol
Tim, the east coast there is my second home. Lowestoft has been unfortunate in recent years…… it’s good to see someone taking a lead and doing something positive. Well done to this family. Hopefully others can follow they’re example and make it a really nice place not just for tourists but also the locals.
Agree
hats off to them
Brilliant vlog today Tim thank you! What a fantastic family and Lowestoft should be very proud of them for bringing the pier back to life. I shall certainly visit when we're next in the area.
Couldn't agree more
Fantastic. Really inspiring too. You’d think the local council, a lottery grant or government might be able to help with the pier…
yes I know but sadly they dont
Hope the lottery could step in if enough people asked 4 funding
Good luck to the family with this big project, I wish the best to them all.
Fantastic pier, a credit to the family.
Wow, what a happy family with happy vibes, good luck to them👍a must visit from us, brilliant 👍👍👍😎
What I don’t understand is why the council never take interest in these historical places, like the piers and the Winter Gardens. I hope this family will raise the money for the pier as it actually goes over the sea. Maybe they could get some funding from a heritage fund or something similar.
Lowestoft havebeen awarded 23 million to improve the area, I can't think of a better use of some of that cash going to renovate the end of the pier. Unfortunately the council have a very poor track record in that department the country's most easterly point and the renovation of the glass shelter on the promenade which is being vandalised regularly being just two examples.
Good luck to the family. What an inspiration xx
Came back from Great Yarmouth a few hours ago - wonderful behind the scenes look at these historic piers.
Although I'm always going to Hopton, I've never actually been to Lowestoft sea front. I think I may have to now as I love the look of that bar and the pina colada in the pineapple.. I'll have it as a mocktail too for now as I can't drink atm 😂😂
Lol
Love your videos. Just a lovely dose of positivity on UA-cam!
thanks Katy
Greqt video hope family do well
Another different and interesting video and Wish the family all the best with the Pier 👍😀
Nice to see a pier in lowestoft I heard its a nice place
Looks like Lowestoft to me ! Beautiful town and people! I ❤️ Lowestoft!!!!
The best!
Love they are trying to preserve history, they need a tv programme like the Llandudno pier one on ITV, great video Tim . Love the channel mate keep it up
Thanks Lee
Well done to the family, Wish them all the best, Over 20 years ago i drove a cherry picker under the pier at Ramsey in the IOM at a low spring tide for a survey to be carried out, and its only been in the last few years that things have started to move along,
What a fantastic family I hope they do well from their hard work and investment, such a bonus for the town.
Agree Tracey
You have the most satisfying UA-cam channel ever. Can watch your content all day. Keep it up mate. Love your hotel trips and night stay reviews the most!
Means alot , thanks Harry
Wow, thanks for this Tim. People like this are just so cool and amazing ! The pier is stunning. xx
Hope everything goes well for the family, it's sad when these places just get left, and deteriorate. 👍👍
You and me both!
Fantastic video Tim and great to see what this family are doing to keep the pier going. Would be brilliant to see it fully restored. They all seemed so happy and enthusiastic.
Absolutely
Another brilliant vlog Tim 👍🏻,I hold my hat off to this family’s ambition to keep and restore part of the town’s history, the difference they’ve already made to the look already is brilliant 👍🏻another on my must visit list
Absolutely
Really enjoyed this vlog..👍👍😃
thank sue
What a different video Tim liked it a lot and the fact that it's a family run pier and it was nice of them to let you go around it and behind the scenes it was a big pier hope the people of lowestoft appreciate all the family hard work
Thanks sally
Your welcome tim
Wow Michael!!!!! The stockmarket!!!!💰💰😲
lol
Good luck peeps!
I live and was born in Lowestoft, in all my 48 years this is the best thing I've seen happen to the pier, it was at risk of being demolished I believe ( the actual pier itself) but this family have gave it the best shot it has I wish them every success and will be supporting them. Another great video Tim 😊👍
thanks Michael
I live in Bavaria, Germany, but I was born in Lowestoft and lived there until I was 20 yesrs old. I loved this video and am really pleased to see that the Claremont Pier is now a great attraction in the south of Lowestoft. What an improvement! Well done to the family who have taken on such a venture. Good luck for the future. Thank you, Tim, for all your videos - I always enjoy watching them.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great idea to build a legacy business. With the right energy this business could just keep going for many generations.
The family have turned the pier into a resort for a family day out.. There's something for everyone. In particular me as I noticed 2 types of Carling.
lol
Doing amazing job for the town and bringing it alive again 👍 what would be a nice 👍 idea on the pier plaques people buy them like southwold lovely idea
Good video , what lovely people good luck to them 👍
I wasn’t sure I would find this vid particularly interesting but what a delightful upload. So pleased to see a family investing in a seaside community such as this. I love that sports bar 🏏
What a brilliant video Tim! The familly that own the pier have done an amazing job, and I wish them every success. They all seem like thoroughly decent people too.
agree
The land train was stolen a few years back, don't know if it was ever found. That looks like a new train
OMG who would steel a land train grrrrr that's there business 2
Wish them all the success in reviving the pier! This is so great to see them building something that will bring so much pleasure to so many people when it's all finished.
Great insightful video to see behind the scenes of the pier. My dad lives in Lowestoft and I came over in June (I live in Thailand) for a visit and we sat outside the pier and had a coffee but not a lot seemed to be happening as it was in the morning. Wish them well and hopefully they will get the funds to redevelop the rest of it.
It looks like it’s in good hands . Wonderful place. A lot work goes into keeping it all going. 👏🏻
Must be the best pier I've ever seen looks fantastic ,,cracking vid 🎥👍
I’m from Newcastle but I wanna day down here now🤣🍻
This was great. I’m so nosy and love looking around properties and just opening doors randomly like you do. Seeing all the facilities and what they have managed to do here is amazing. I can’t believe they managed to fit a nightclub in there too. If it is possible do more of these Tim.
Glad you enjoyed!
I love seaside piers, absolutely brilliant to see this one given a new lease of life! Will definitely be going there when I visit lowestoft,
You should!
This was great to watch, what a brilliant business. I shall make the effort to visit the pier next time I’m that way!!
Absolutely fantastic video Tim and what an incredible family. Reckon I'll get myself a piece of the Pier!! Best of luck with it all Victoria, you deserve every success.
That family youth in Lowestoft that own a peir are awesome and so friendly. Thanks for the video Tim.
Very good and well deserved, I know the family and they all work so hard. I have full confidence that they will restore the pier and make it better than it was.
A very good Monday morning to you sir and your family from Wellington Somerset
They seem like a nice down to earth family. The weather is too hot though. I wonder how they keep cool.
Good question!
What a wonderful pier !! It is so unique and has many things to offer.
It covers a big extent. It looks very spacious and has several departments ! It blends with the colour of the sandy beach and displays a high sense of health and hygiene.Being situated on the sea beach,it looks most explicit !
Besides, the family members are just too jolly and active and work unitedly towards a common goal !
Their work passes away with a smile
and friendly gestures. They set a good example of a perfect family for
others to follow ! How wonderful !
Thanks for sharing !! ❤️❤️❤️
Wow that is really cool. What fun as a family.
Love the pier, so well put together. Thanks for the tour!
Thanks Jennifer
Wow that is lovely of them so cool to see. Appreciate you Tim.

Wow, what a lovely family! I hope it's a massive success for them!
I hope so too!
I have so many happy memories of Lowestoft. We holidayed here every year in the late 90s and early noughties with our children and loved every minute. It is really nice to see what this lovely family has done with the pier and I wish them all the best with their future plans. This video was so interesting, thanks Tim😊
thanks Bridgette
That was really interesting thankyou Tim 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow, what an amazing family and a beautiful pier! I really hope they reach their goal for the repairs. I shall definitely be visiting in the future.
Nice one dave
Fascinating, Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
I often visit Lowestoft and have found only one thing I don't like is that when that bridge goes up the whole place shuts down, apart from that I think it's a wonderful place and the Pier looks worth a visit.
Great Vlog Tim. A really interesting insight to a family committed to return the pier to it's former glory.
Absolutely
I’m super impressed with all the work this family have done. I hope it goes well for them which I’m sure it will. I have used Piranha Joes and The Terrace several times. Really enjoy a nice pint of Madri, so glad I live close.
Great video Tim. Nice Pier. Be nice too see them restore it too hopefuly not too long
Hope so!
Great video,Tim,👏👏👏
Brilliant we have stayed at b and b near here and only walked to town but next time will definitely give pier a visit 🎉🎉
As always a great video Tim, loved seeing behind the scenes and the family are doing a fantastic job and investing. Fingers crossed they get their funding to complete the pier repairs, as that would be amazing.
Fingers crossed!
Looks nice. Was nice of her to take you around and show you
