I horned my dancing & dating skills at the south pier, lots of fantastic memories for me , and now you look at today’s Lowestoft haha there’s nothing for the younger generation. I can honestly say we had the best times back then . 🎉❤😅
When was it actually closed and demolished? Film is pretty scant on details. Born and raised here since 86 and I had literally never seen or heard of this building before stumbling across this video. Hard thing to google as you keep getting the arcade or the East Point Pavilion.
I'm a little confused? WDC, and the old Lowestoft Town Council had the Sparrows Nest, but wasn't the South Pier Owned by ABP as the landlord, and the old pavilion just leased to the operator? WDC leased some of it, but other areas were leased to operators who ran the cafes and amusements. Ted Harwick's company only leased the Pavilion, the actual building was determined to be end of life, and rebuilding a theatre could have been something WDC would have taken over, but why would a Council want to run 2 theatres? They weren't very keen on just running 1?
Certainly brings back memories moved away from Lowestoft in the 70,s so love these posts 👍

Great video really enjoyed it and your so right about W.D.C. I could think of a few other choice words but we're not allowed to use them on here lol

You’re probably right but don’t let that get in the way of a diatribe against WDC
