Dr. Mike has acknowledged in every video critiquing these big names how incredible they are. And there’s always a way to optimize processes, even for the best athletes. Since most the time, they have great genetics and work ethic, and that takes care of 99% of it. But, there’s a 1% that can probably be improved. And especially for normal people like us, that 1% is actually more like 10%, since we don’t have the best genetics lol
@@andrewmontgomery1763 I agree that training can definitely be optimised, but sports science is one of the worst forms of 'science', with only nutritional science being worse. With how tenuous the scientific data is, it's extremely hard to make any hard assertions about what is and isn't good training; especially as he's coming at it from the approach of a hypertrophy researcher, not a sports coach, strength coach, skills coach, soft-tissue specialist etc. There isn't even an agreed upon mechanism for what causes muscle to grow, and the closest model there seems to be is Menno Henselmans tension model, but even that doesn't account for aspects like bloodflow restriction training.

@@hermann5347 I'm 35; yes, it got better in the last 5-10 years, but I do many things to get that result. In terms of the anabolic steroids, it sounds like it creates a notably increased propensity toward violence coupled with an increased ability to perform violence. I know that Mike said he is basically libertarian in his views, including the choice to take steroids except where it harms other people... but from his description it definitely seems like they are very likely to cause people to start unwarranted fights with innocent people and increase their capacity to do serious harm to them when they do.
