I'm a proud Newfoundlander and this is one of my all time favourites. I get goosebumps and tears in my eyes when I listen to the pure, beautiful simplicity of 4 amazing voices here.....profound!
Great Big Sea is such a fantastic example of pure musical talent and musicianship, i've never heard anyone live that even matches the quality that Great Big Sea puts out at their concerts, hands down my favourite band of all time!
you all probably dont care at all but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost my password. I would love any help you can give me.
@Santana Mordechai I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I love this song. I grew up in Grand Falls on the Exploits River. It brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it. Thank you Great Big Sea for writing this!
I was a river driver,I am way old,too old for it now,but do I miss it.HELL YES> This is the best band to ever perform at Oswego's Harbor Fest. That includes a young Chesney. Yes that Chesney!
I have loved this band for many years and feel quite a deep and profound kinship with their music. Perhaps I, too, was a River Driver in another life. Keep up the sensational work, guys. There is much love for you.
when i saw them both times it was just amazing. their live is way better then the albums, you have to have the full GBS experience to really appreciate their songs
This is one of my favorite songs that they do! It's beautiful and haunting at the same time. I just love it because it is so simple. They just use their voices!
So true. I finally saw them (basically my favorite band) last weekend in Halifax live. And I never heard anything like it. It was such a fantastic nght.
Murray Foster's bass voice gives me the chills. The song was always good, but Murray just plain makes this version. I usually skip over the verses and just listen to the chorus. I wish they'd shown more of Murray as he was singing... What is Murray doing now? Googling wasn't very helpful.
Love this song, the chorus here is the best version I've heard. I don't like Alan doing the verses here, I prefer the version from the "Courage, Patience and Grit" concert, which is currently unavailable on UA-cam.
Séan and Murray are clear-eyed, clean and sober in this video. (Can't really see much of Kris in the background.) As for Doyle and Bob - well, they look like they just stumbled off the bus... which they probably did. Alan went off the rails when Séan would no longer drink with him. It happens often when one member of a social and/or professional group gets sober, the others try to suck them back in, and it doesn't work. Big salute to Séan for choosing his family.

@Santana Mordechai It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my account !
@Dakota Layne You are welcome :)
Who says you can't have gorgeous vocals, harmonize beautifully and still rock?
Love this song so much.I had a career as a river driver,Mississippi,St.Lawrence, Hudson, Great lakes, this was my life.
As a river driver, this song speaks to my heart and, somewhat unfortunately, accurately illustrates my life.
Greatest song ever. This song is being played at my funeral. It's already written into my will.

I replace River Driver with soldier and this is my go to song for going places and coming back. To damn True.

One of my absolute favourite songs! Just pure musical beauty in simplicity.

Saw them do this live in Kent, Ohio july 16th. WOW! Powerful harmonies. Great guys!
Love and miss this band!
Too right. The King’s Busketeers would do unspeakable things to open a show for GBS
@@MysticMutteringOh Yea man I wish they were still rolling together I’ve been listening to them since I was 8 and im 20 now
I never even got a chance to see them
Great bass Murray!...and a pretty fair cribbage player too...[ahhhh-those Thornlea days]
Heard your music years ago and still love listening to your singing and songs.
Saw them do this live on their XX tour. They're flawless live.
Love this group. Love the music. This one is in my top three of favourites by GBS. Thank you gentlemen for such great music.
I'm at a complete loss for words; their sound is incredible.
I miss these guys. Pure brilliance

Growing up on the rivers in Florida this will be my funeral song
I'm currently reading Moby Dick for my American Literature class, and this song is all I can think of. I'd say it's rather appropriate!

Murray Foster makes the chorus bone-shaking! Yeah, really tired of Alan and his shtick.

Jeez, I miss the b'ys!
в записи как-то поинтеллигентнее) и по красивее)
that bass tho
+Ryan Goldblum
it's called a Bodhran
+D'lazy Llama singers voices range from Soprano to Bass. He is a Bass.
Murray was a late transfer, previously in the band Moxy Fruvous.
@@Rennies-World Can't get enough of Murray's bass vocals, especially here and on Old Brown's Daughter. Shivers.
River Driver.
The lyrics can so easily be changed to "I'm a trucken driver"
Goil
Too much echo on the mic
