I recently got a pair of 708 from eBay. The footbed isn’t made of leather, and it has padding at the arch. Is that the same type of construction your boots have?? Thanks for posting this video!
The 708’s are the original 7” farmer boot and yes, it does have what I would consider an inferior leather “particle board” insole which was a surprise/disappointment 😢
Size of course matters. I wear a 9D in moc toe, and round toe. 8.5D in engineers. I try not to buy overused (I know that is subjective) boots because 1) the footbed can have the previous owners impression which could cause discomfort. 2) the cork filler could be overly compressed or crumbly. 3) perspiration can cause the footbed to become cracked or sweat rotted. 4) always look for amount of wear on the soles unless somebody has resoled them, that is a pretty telltale sign that the insole is also worn. 5) I try not to buy boots that have been overly conditioned or oiled because that can 😂cause the leather uppers to become misshapen or floppy. As far as what models I choose I just like ones that I don’t have or ones I think are cool. Buying used online can be a gamble because you can’t try them on before buying. Hope this helps.
@@ammary215 by design yes, they seem to have the best selection and sizes, they are returnable if the buyer didn’t reveal certain flaws or defects. You should be careful from buying boots that are located in the East Coast and Midwest, or countries that have tropical weather because that could be grounds for mold/mildew. I always ask it there are any odors(pet, tobacco, mold, mildew etc) so that you can be covered by eBay’s buyer protection policy.
