Hello all and thank you all so much for watching. Our first "real" video. We had 5 days of spotting in Manchester this summer, and we got to see the lovely MD-11F again. The weather in Manchester was really good, except when this beauty came ofc, but that just meant we could get some lovely spray from the engines. More videos will be added weekly so stay tuned!

I love how the MD-11 climbs......so majestic
Nothing like those trijets..DC 10s,MD 11s,and L1011s..they just don't build them like they used to! Truly miss those awesome birds dominating the skies in the 1970s through the 1990s,true works of art..wish they would once again return to the once illustrious canvas of commercial aviation!🙏🛩🎨

DC-10 and MD-11, the meanest looking commercial wide body types ever built.
Wow! I can't believe it! The pilot (F/O) on the radio of the Lufty Cargo MD11 is a very good friend of mine! I immediately recognized his voice when he read back the take-off clearance! I flew with him on the LH Cargo MD-11Fs more than 70 hours on the flightdeck's jumpseats! This is so cool, I will send him the video. Thanks a ton for sharing, beautiful filming too! :)

I live a few miles from the airport. Just had a UPS Cargo MD-11F take off and it rattled the pictures on my walls. Impressive sound from a ways away
love the tri-engine aircraft!
The last time I saw a third engine on the tail of a passenger jet, I was probably 5 years old. I miss the vistas of the 90s/early 2000s airports
When the Germanwings plane makes the right hand turn before takeoff, the left tire on the nose gear comes off the ground.

yep, the DC-10 does that too, it is designed that way
It is due to the positive caster angle of the nose gear. A positive caster angle tends to resist turning forces and returns easily to center, much like the front wheel of a motorcycle, as opposed to negative caster which turns with less resistance, like wheels on a shopping cart.
The DC-10 and MD-11 has more positive caster than most aircraft nose gear. At full left or right tiller the nose wheel is far enough off the ground that you can actually remove and replace it without having to use a jack.

I love MD 11’s Basically a re named DC10, I’ve flown with Air New Zealand as a DC10 and with KLM MD11, they had a a bad reputation early on all the same a great looking powerful jet liner and still looks great for basically 50 year old design. One thing though, my car’s windscreen wipers are in sync, perhaps the MD 11 is showing it’s age

Dženan HD Yes Thats correct, that's because the one tire of the nose gear doesn't touch the ground Ehen the pilot steers more than about 25-30 degrees to the left or to the right

Love this!! This looks like an awesome location to plane spot. Just captured one of the BEST UPS MD-11F takeoffs in Phoenix, Arizona this morning! The climb after lift off was insane! Also what kind of external microphone are you using now in 2023 for aviation audio?

Wow!!!.What a Magnificent Bird!!!.Love it!!!.How come,I could never fly on this so beautiful aircraft,before it was banned for passangers??.I traveled so many times inside tha U.S.A. & to Europe,so many times,But never on the Concorde-(Extremely expensive to my budget)-, neither aboard of this so iconic DC-11.What a pity!!. :-( !!!.
Wow. Don't see that often, and I see a lot of them flying over where I live. Seems like they are struggling to gain altitude. Same with the FedEx MD-11s.
James Walsh no bro that's when you have a small quantity of freight usually done to ensure a smooth departure. Fedex and many other freigher airlines rempt to reach to the picking facilities for big quantity of freight as soon as possible

it amazes me that a cargo_ or passenger plane can take off & climb like that. [one] would think it would stall.
MD's planes ofter takeoff using "rocket climb" - same applies to MD8x.

Sounds a lot like 747-400.
GermanWings left wheel of nose gear is off the ground and not spinning upon right turn before take-off..
That is normal when the nose gear is turned sharply.
Looks a bit like a 777 if it wasn’t for that tail engine

The MD-11 was or is quite a whopper! But the wipers are out of sync!
It's not necessary for the wipers to be in sync, and there is no mechanism built into them to make them that way.
md 11is a huge but very beautiful airplane I hope they still maufacture it so it will nit be phased out
