Triggers are real rough off the shelf but that was easily rectified. The one I kept for myself would repeatably shoot under 3", 3 shot groups @75 yards. Not bad for a battle rifle and iron sights. And these are milled receiver guns for what it's worth.

And concerning the steel back then , it was in the 1950's not the middle ages and their steel was good but feel free to provide evidence it was not . The fact that the tri bladed bayonets did not break as easy was less about the steel and the fact it was circular and thicker than the bladed versions and if you had handled both you would see the difference . While we don't get why you need them people who are centrist or left-leaning cannot ban or restrict guns past requiring a license. People who are right leaning would get the guns that the already had because they haven't had them taken away yet, and attempt to overthrow the government. Honestly some of us are a little bit afraid if the right.
Basically, while I think guns should be restricted, it would be too hard for us because, well, people have guns.

I was given one for my 16th birthday and I fell in love with it, and when I get back on my feet and get back into pursuing my gunsmithing career, one of my personal projects was going to be to try and take the SKS, and help it adapt to the modern world. Essentially, I want to show people it's not the weapon's system that's obsolete, it's the layout.

@@danielkorladis7869 I'm not going to "bubba" a perfectly good SKS, I was going to purchase a damaged, already broken one to use for my project.
Plus the modifications I would do to it wouldn't be anything that couldn't be reversed either. I'd be replacing parts with my own modified ones, meaning you could put it back together into it's stock format.
I have a little more respect for historical firearms though. But what I want to prove to people, is that the SKS is not just some old outdated beater that you can buy for cheap and abuse. I wanna prove it's still as much a modern rifle as the others that are still around, it's just the layout it was produced in was dated.
The ultimate goal though, if people like my proof of concept and want to buy it, is to produce SKS rifles brand new, in both "vintage" and my modern layout. So that way people don't have to butcher the historical ones, and so you also get a more modern precision manufacturing, and thus probably more accurate gun too.

My dad and uncle each got dirt cheap SKSs in the 90s, along with a train load of that steel-core ammo they used to have all over the place. They didn't get used very often compared to the lever guns, but when the SKSs did come out it was usually to put a hole through something that no one else could put a hole through. There's a big thicc pipe out by a reservoir they used to camp by, and for the longest time there were only 2 holes in the pipe (one from the SKS round going in, one from it coming out sideways). Now that the standard artillery is no longer the .30-30, there are a lot more holes in that thing, but for a good few years that keyhole steel-core penetration looked very impressive.

Eventually, as the years and alcohol, took it's toll on my late Vietnam veteran of a dad, the rifles vanished. Most likely to the local pawn shops so the few dollars made could buy more liquid courage for that day.
But the SKS' made plenty of memories while they were here! Like shooting 10lb largemouth bass from a cattle pond via concussive blasts as drunk dad fished with his hands!

      Well I'm kinda stumped lmao
Doesn't appear to be Chinese. It's clearly a 55 or 56, but, has a refurbished BUT solid birch stock, not laminated. Yet, it seems that's the only refurbished part, as everything else has no signs, being still in original blued finish, no painting, no X'd out serials, and all numbers matching. Only unmatched part is the rear top return spring cover (where the makers stamp should be), which while blued, has _zero_ stampings outside *or* inside lol **shrug** (I have an aftermarket Norinco one on it now, for a rifle scope)
Either way, it's accurate and in 👌 perfect condition.
