this was the very first album I ever owned, that I bought with my own money. I had babysitting money from watching my little brother and I asked my mom to buy this record (vinyl) for me. She went to the Tower Records closest to us and picked it up. When she got to the record store she asked the clerk if this album was appropriate for a pre-teen, lol. God bless the dude working the counter that day... he told my mom, "oh, yeah... he's going to love this!" I then listened to Problem Child, Big Balls, Love At First Feel, and Dirty Deeds over, and over... and over. I'm in my 50's now, and still listen to this record on vinyl. It's a newer copy, not the one I got in '81, but the feelings the album gives me are exactly the same! music is magic...
@@scottdash We had a home stereo that would let us record from radio, record, or 8-track to another 8-track. Poor Conway Twitty sacrificed his album so I could have a copy of this one.
Bon's posh accent is utterly brilliant, as is his delivery. I discovered this song when I was 18. I had these two friends and we were exploring AD/DC'S older albums, and my buddy says, listen to this. We nearly fell over laughing. You cannot listen to this song without smirking or smiling.
Jerry Lee Lewis did a song in 1957 called "Great Balls Of Fire". It was one of his biggest hits. So, when they reference great balls of fire that is what comes to mind.
That's for sure, even the lyrics has one part where Bon says, "everybody says that I have Great Balls of Fire!". I heard Jerry Lee Lewis song for the first time 50 years later.
I love your enthusiasm Elizabeth. I never thought I'd see you do this tune in a million years. I know you got the inside joke on the tune, when you crack up like you do I can't help but smile.
Some songs are difficult to analyze with a professional attitude, but you still managed to do so in between giggles & guffaws. A "novelty" song like this really hits it out of the ballpark, doesn't it? 😚
It's always fun watching someone hear this song for the first time. Loved watching Elizabeth's eyes get wide as she experienced the masterful lyrical word play in this song. HNY to all!
Such a fun and irreverent song!! Knowing what lyrics were coming up, I couldn't wait to see her reaction and she didn't disappoint! Impossible not to laugh along with her 😂
Such a great song from a great album. Bon Scott was such a marvellous vocalist and the total lack of subtlety in this song is what makes it such a fun track that still, after all these years, makes me giggle like a child whenever I hear it. You should do “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” off this album as well, it’s another great Bon Scott vocal exercise.
You are getting bolder Elizabeth. Looks like this one is going to be a lot of fun with lots of giggles and blushes. Great song from a great album. Hope you get to Ride On soon. It is quite different from most AC/DC songs.
I was at a funeral of a young (27) guy 25yrs ago, he was a big AC/DC fan, his brother demanded that Ride On should be played. It was a bit of discussion with the priest since he just heard "AC/DC" ... They played the song in the part when you go and put a flower on the coffin. Yet to day I cry when I think about it, it was beautiful. Cheers from Northern Sweden.
I'll never forget the day my brother played and sang along to this song,,,,,, for our mother! Now that is a fun memory 😂 also. This was the first song i learned to play on my bass.
This is my favorite AC/DC song, is raw, undecent, fun, outspoken, rocker, roller, irreverent, simple but legendary, this song contains everything AC/DC is, was and will be.
Bon had a knack for playing with clever double entendres that would be delivered with a bit of a grin. It's one of the things that made him so incredibly unique, lol.
This song was SO SCANDALOUS in my neighborhood when I was a kid: our grade school banned us from playing it or singing it, and our moms did not even allow us to have the album (76-77 was before cassette tapes became popular). And yet... somehow... we played and sang the shit out of this. 😂
I was in 7th grade Music class and we had to do a oral report on a rock band/song, and this kid Jeff did this song with another kid. I remember his exact quote in front of the class, "We know nothing about this band or the song, we picked it because of the subject', 'Big Balls'"...The 300 pound lady teacher failed him....lol After a year of boring traditional standard songs, this was great. It was probably the first time I ever heard the song myself...
When I was in junior high, this album came out. That summer, my mom arranged a carpool with some other neighborhood children to take us to our weekly computer programming class. It was not a short drive, so we brought tapes to listen to on the way. One of the children had this album and we put it on. We all loved it, including my mom, who thought it was the funniest thing she'd heard. Like most people, my relationship with my parents has always been "complicated", but it was moments like that, that gave me a proper appreciation of her being "a real live person", and indeed one with a (at times) easy-going sense of humor!
I can completely relate. I was a kid in South Africa in the 1970s, and the ACDC albums were in a very long list of albums that were either banned or severely frowned upon by the society of the time. And yet, we found ways to listen to it whenever we wanted. It points to one of those truths of life: the more you try to suppress something, the stronger you make it.
I had the dj play this at my late brothers wedding. His and his wifes reaction was priceless. After this, maybe give Chuck Berry's song My Dingaling a listen.
Bon was a treasure, just a master of wordplay and just had a charm in everything he did. In terms of him using that skill in a more traditional song writing sense, listen to "Ride On", it's the greatest song he ever performed on in my view.
You are 100% correct; this is a great karaoke song. It's so much fun, chorus is an audience shout, and its more about expression than vocal gymnastics. Thank you for doing one of my faves. You really should consider Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Quite the song to finish 2023! I’m glad you picked a fun song to listen to Elizabeth! Sometimes not taking songs seriously and having fun with them is the best medicine! Great analysis Elizabeth! Happy new year to everyone in the Charismatic Voice community! Cheers, Mike L 😎🇨🇦✌🏼🥳🎉
Might I add "Down Payment Blues" to the doubtless growing list of ACDC tracks clamouring for your attention. Bon Scott at his best - turn by turn angry, amused, cynical, contemptuous with his inflection of cleverly crafted lyrics. Pure poetry.
I agree! Powerage is my favorite AC/DC album. Every song is a killer. Down Payment Blues is a standout along with What’s Next To The Moon and Kicked in the Teeth. The whole album is fantastic and Bon and the band are at the top of their game.
This song was done, obviously, with a certain amount of absurdity in mind, with the double entendre, and the over-the-top pompousness of Bon. I think you doing a 'vocal analysis' of this actually adds to the absurdity in a great way. Awesome.
A friend of mine at Uni suggested that we played this during a performance assessment, just for fun. He was a big AC/DC fan and I'd never heard it before. We had such a blast and even during the rehearsals this song would always bring a big smile to our faces. We finished the set with this and the look on our lecturer's face was worth it ;)
Elizabeth, I and everyone on here have been not only music fans, but passionate about the craft that is music. Being 53 in age it brings me back to listening to record albums with friends and family. How you'd anticipate when that good friend would come to your house, sit down, and enjoy each others company while joyfully discovering something new. Having had so many of these songs as an integral part of my life for many years, watching you discover so many of them for the first time is like having that precious experience over again with fresh insight and renewed wonder. It truly is like having a friend pop by to share a moment of life, something that is missing today for so many. I've played guitar for many years, and the ability you have to passionately share your love of the voice as an instrument has inspired so many including myself to start vocal journeys of our own. I thank you, I appreciate you, and will continue looking forward to your visits. Much love to you, and all of us who get together here in 2024. 🐙😀
I have to say that your enthusiasm and positivity has reached even my husband, a confirmed curmudgeon. He was mystified when I told him that I had started watching vocal analysis/reaction videos. Then he watched your South Park reaction, and now he has been the one to suggest watching your videos multiple times with no prompting. He agrees with me: You are a shot of pure endorphins into the day. We love you! Never change!
I have never met a 12 year old boy that doesn't know this song. I was surprised when my son and his friends knew it because he was living with his mother at the time. I look forward to hearing my grandson singing this in about 10 years.
This was all we could have hoped for .... and more. Being able to actually break down vocals as well as comedic tenents, all while maintaning a semblence of seriousness balanced with having fun. My hat is off to you. 🎩🖤
And here we are. *WE* know what's coming, and we can't WAIT to hear your reaction. Thanks for all the fun, and the balls to play the songs we request. Happy New Year!!
This band, and specifically this song, captures the moment my musical tastes and my parents' musical tastes went their separate ways. My parents listens to very cool music, but seeing my mom, who was a Sunday school teacher, was appalled by the song, my inner giddiness burst forth forever. I went on the full on metal freight train from that point in the late '70's, early '80's. I certainly listen to a plethora of music styles, but this band and song represents my waving to my parents as I went a different direction on the crossroads for the first time. Yea! Oh yeah, Jeff Buckley will be your favorite singer someday mademoiselle Elizabeth...
I am of an age that I saw this live before the album came out. I was one of the most fun I ever had at a concert. It lasted about 10 minutes as the crowd {aproximately 10k} took over the vocals...
Bon Scott was the best. He could write clever, witty double-entendres like this and then a song like "Ride On" on the same album. RIP Bon (and Malcolm). Happy New Year, Elizabeth!
I accidentally found this channel and was initially caught by Beth’s red hair. She covers many of my favorite songs and performances. She is very expressive with her eyes/eyebrows and mouth and truly seems to enjoy. I would love to hear her singing whatever the genre. Keep up the great work 🇺🇸🇺🇸😍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Bon's very cheeky dilivery is best imagined when you have seen him live. His rye cheeky smile and quickly fluttering eye brows above his widened eyes that show he is throwing you a double entender. He was a brilliant man.
I love how some of these legendary bands have some of these utterly insane songs that while being absolutely ridiculous are still legendary songs in their own right. Queen has songs like Fat Bottomed Girls and Bicycle Race, AC/DC has Big Balls, Van Halen had Hot for Teacher, etc. And some of these songs manage to deliver one of the most defining sounds of these bands too. The intro to Hot for Teacher, the drums and guitar, it's so utterly unique, technically impressive and if you heard it once, you'll remember it forever. Tenacious D took that part of all legendary bands and made a career out of it.
I had so much fun watching you experience the song for the first time. Imagine this song as a 15 year old boy. The expressions on Bon Scott's face when he sang this live were priceless.
You should check out 'Ride On' which is off the same album. It's the only ballad AC/DC ever done and it's absolutely amazing. Bon lays down some incredible vocals just packed with emotion and Angus lays down an equally emotional guitar solo and it may be my favorite solo of his. It's such an amazing song!
@@Project851@eric_day84 I don't want to come across as pedantic but surely "Love Song" was their first ballad as it was on their debut album "High Voltage" and "Ride ON" was their second ballad.
Watching Elizabeth giggle like a schoolgirl, along with her facial expressions, has me cracking up! 🤣🤣 I admire a person who appreciates various types/genres of things! 💯 #bigballz 😉🤘
Thank you for this reaction. Honestly, I couldn't stop laughing from your reaction. It's absolutely amazing!! This song is the ultimate play on words, and you learned that, and I appreciate that you tried to keep a straight face. Thank you!!!
A brilliant song performed perfectly by Bon. Cheeky as you can get without being rude. That was Bon. My band plays this occasionally and it always gets a huge reaction but hey we are one of Australia's biggest ACDC tribute bands so people know exactly what wat we are about. Having a good time.
The double entendre of song is so great. The other thing is they somehow got the record company to release this as a single. This played back in the day and still does on rock radio all the time. With songs like the title song Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and Love at First Feel and this one this album is fire. This is why, imho, Bon Scott will always be the better singer of AC/DC. There is another song, completely different from the tongue and cheekiness, called Ride On you should check on. Bon has very subtle vocals on this one. It's a slow bluesy number that would really give you a great listen to his voice.
I love this girl. It's no surprise she's popular. She has beauty, amazing talent, and most of all, she really understands how the internet works. Happy New Year!
You probably didn't mean anything by it, but it's pretty condescending to call her a girl. Elizabeth is a full grown adult woman, not a child. Other than that, totally agree!
Elizabeth, I'm so happy you have the .... intestinal fortitude (Ha! I'll bet you thought I was going to say balls!) to react to this brilliant piece of cheeky wordplay. AC/DC with Bon Scott on vocals was often filled with sly words, naughty winks, or hilarious asides between the lines. Another great example is Whole Lotta Rosie, an evening with a very large woman, based on a true event in Bon's offstage escapades. A fun and hard rocking track that never devolves into weight shaming. As a parent, be aware that kids are always listening, even when they look like they aren't. I was playing this album and my youngest, at 2 years old, started singing the chorus. He paraded around the house, regaling his mother with words she didn't want to hear. At the time, he didn't even know what either iteration of balls were, only that the song made me laugh so it must be fun to repeat. ♥ His mother, my ex, was mortified that he'd remember this when her friends came to visit. 😂😂
haha Brilliant! I mean, honestly, how can anyone listen to this song without smiling? The "snooty-ness" that Bon Scott adds to his vocals here adds so much to it, too. So good.
Oh, man! The days of my youth - Bon Scott and AD/DC, Jimmy, Ian and Cold Chisel, Doc Neeson and The Angels, James Reyne and Australian Crawl. Love 'em all (even if you never had any idea what James Reyne was singing about :-)
Have a ball breaking this one down Elizabeth, love your sense of humor. When you're done with this one check out a similarity tongue and cheek one "She's got the Jack" from them.
I've always assumed Bon Scott's "singing style" in this song was him mocking a "high society type" that's drunk on scotch and champaign bragging to other high society types, slurring his speech and speaking with a hoity-toity accent. But this was also a dig at music censorship at the time. "Censor this!" was almost the message behind this particular song. That and making boyish locker room jokes, and laughing at how uncomfortable in made all the upper management types in the music industry. Great reaction!

Yes! This was an Aussie doing a posh English accent.
For an Aussie, Bon pulled that off amazingly. It's part of why the song is so great.
"Posh" is the term most commonly applied. Exaggerated with a slight chuckle towards the British only an Aussie can magage.

I then listened to Problem Child, Big Balls, Love At First Feel, and Dirty Deeds over, and over... and over. I'm in my 50's now, and still listen to this record on vinyl. It's a newer copy, not the one I got in '81, but the feelings the album gives me are exactly the same! music is magic...
I listened to this song so much that as ive gotten older, Rocker is one of my favorites.
I was given this album on 8-track. If you know you are old.
@@scottdash We had a home stereo that would let us record from radio, record, or 8-track to another 8-track.
Poor Conway Twitty sacrificed his album so I could have a copy of this one.
What a time to be alive! When Bon Scott died we all thought they were finished. Then Back in Black came out. I wore the shit out of that record
R.I.P. Bon Scott. Bon was such an inredible frontman/performer.
The way Bon talks with that "High Falutant" verbiage is ever so excellent.
indubitably!
Quite exquisite you know!
Marvellous I do believe.
This song is just one giant double entendre.
Love it.
Multiple entendre!
Listen to The Jack.... that's another one!
pretty much a single entendre
@@UKJesterVids Triple entendre, actually. Ballrooms, testicles, anti-censorship.
Entendre cubed
The Dirty Deeds album might be my favorite of all time. Every song is great is one way or another, either hard rocking or playful or both.
my favorite AC/DC album for sure. It has that very distinct Australian sense of humor
Agreed! My very favorite AC/DC album. Every single tune is awesome! This is one of those albums that almost everyone I knew owned. 👍💯✌🇨🇦♥️♥️♥️
It's good definitely but I think they hit their peak with the next 4.
I love your enthusiasm Elizabeth. I never thought I'd see you do this tune in a million years. I know you got the inside joke on the tune, when you crack up like you do I can't help but smile.
It's REEEEdiculous.
Well said. A great reaction.
One of many things I always loved about AC/DC , as an Aussie, is the backing vocals are just so Australian. Real Okka as we call it.
HNY to all!
I haven't listened to this song in 20+ years. I still giggle like a kid.
Aaaannd the blushes keep on coming. 🥰🤭🤭
Bon Scott is arguably the greatest frontman of all time, and his vocal stylings were, well, unique.
Ride On is one of my all time favorites. It should be a consideration for any blues playlist.
Because, yeah... It was the 70's, and we were gearing up for the 80's! That's how #genx rolled, AND STILL ROLLS! 🤘🤜💥🤣
Hehe
+1 for Ride On
This song brings back so many great memories. Listening to this and singing along on the bus coming back from track meets.
Cheers,
Mike L 😎🇨🇦✌🏼🥳🎉
Might I add "Down Payment Blues" to the doubtless growing list of ACDC tracks clamouring for your attention. Bon Scott at his best - turn by turn angry, amused, cynical, contemptuous with his inflection of cleverly crafted lyrics. Pure poetry.
I agree!
Powerage is my favorite AC/DC album. Every song is a killer. Down Payment Blues is a standout along with What’s Next To The Moon and Kicked in the Teeth. The whole album is fantastic and Bon and the band are at the top of their game.
Yes to Kicked in the teeth!
This song was done, obviously, with a certain amount of absurdity in mind, with the double entendre, and the over-the-top pompousness of Bon. I think you doing a 'vocal analysis' of this actually adds to the absurdity in a great way. Awesome.
And probably a healthy addition of liquid courage on the part of Bon.
You are the best for doing this. I remember my mom coming in my room hearing this. "Oh, lovely song Roland". Too funny, Ty.
A friend of mine at Uni suggested that we played this during a performance assessment, just for fun. He was a big AC/DC fan and I'd never heard it before. We had such a blast and even during the rehearsals this song would always bring a big smile to our faces. We finished the set with this and the look on our lecturer's face was worth it ;)
Yes 70's ac/dc welcome Elizabeth.This is were I live.
Very well said. I could not have said it better come in for about 52-year-old that got this album when he was 13
I have to say that your enthusiasm and positivity has reached even my husband, a confirmed curmudgeon.
This song is hilarious. Loved listening to it every time it came on the radio.
My mother came into my room once when I had this cranked up on the radio & ended up just walking out shaking her head sadly...
I’m glad you heard about his big balls. Apparently, he was just itching to tell you about them.
Bon Scott was just honoured with his own tartan design.
A total gigglefest! So much fun to see you having fun withe fun!
Bon reminding us that music is, first and foremost, about having fun. He was the best.
Love this entire album. RIP Bon and Malcom.
Rosie!!!
"Big Balls" is next level greatness! Bon Scott nailed it!!
Such a classic 😆 It's a shame he couldn't have blessed us with his voice for longer.
You've got to do more Bon Scott. He was an incredible presence.
Also Van Halen's 'Beautiful girls' is another such fun song. It swings and grooves, has great backing vocals and just puts a smile on your face.
This was standard AC/DC fare in the Bon Scott era.
I bought this album back in the 70's and still have it in mint condition , even after so many times listening to it.
Don't forget the second ballad, "Love Song".
I love this entire album
@@Project851@eric_day84 I don't want to come across as pedantic but surely "Love Song" was their first ballad as it was on their debut album "High Voltage" and "Ride ON" was their second ballad.
Second to that. A beutifuly performed song.
@@Project851was about to say that.
Thank you, Elizabeth, for the wonderful New Years gift. That song is always good for a laugh!
Your patreon fans want to see you blush! But this is a catchy song! Bon Scott is a legend!
Hah, this one was all Kirk.
@@TheCharismaticVoice😂😂😂 Makes perfect sense 😁
@@TheCharismaticVoice Please thank him from all of us. 🤣 Sometimes it's great to listen or 'analyze' a song just purely for fun.
Watching Elizabeth giggle like a schoolgirl, along with her facial expressions, has me cracking up! 🤣🤣 I admire a person who appreciates various types/genres of things! 💯 #bigballz 😉🤘
The best double entendre lyrics ever put to music! When my mother first heard this song she thought it was the most dirty thing she ever heard LOL
Thank you for this reaction. Honestly, I couldn't stop laughing from your reaction. It's absolutely amazing!! This song is the ultimate play on words, and you learned that, and I appreciate that you tried to keep a straight face. Thank you!!!
For me, this song perfectly defines what rock and roll is. And this album is perhaps the best ac/dc album ever. Rest in peace Bon.
+1 for Ride On
It is a great karaoke song. I sing it all the time and everyone has a ball.
I bet you were itching to tell us about it😂
Well done.
A definite talent for reviewing such a sweet and innocent Aussie song.
Oh Please
@@ShatteredQT Get a job.
So good.
I am seeing this on 1/2/2024 and this made my year, not sure if it can get better. Love your reaction.
Oh, man! The days of my youth - Bon Scott and AD/DC, Jimmy, Ian and Cold Chisel, Doc Neeson and The Angels, James Reyne and Australian Crawl. Love 'em all (even if you never had any idea what James Reyne was singing about :-)
The fireworks at balls, being the greatest balls on fire... Is certainly a reference to Jerry Lee Louis - Great Ball's of Fire
Still my favorite ac/dc album. Start to finish great songs. This album has my personal favorite song "ride on"
That's one of my favs on this album as well. I live in Alberta, and we have a local musician named Corb Lund, he did a really good cover.
Waiting for a truck…
Have a ball breaking this one down Elizabeth, love your sense of humor. When you're done with this one check out a similarity tongue and cheek one "She's got the Jack" from them.
Bon Scott....the king of double-entendre! He was one of a kind! RIP!!!
Love watching your analysis, your laughs and giggles, your as much entertainment as the music. Happy New Years to you and yours ❤
