My favorite part about Camille's lore is her just being trained in some random leg based blade wielding martial art as a child like her parents had the foresight their daughter was gonna grow up with scissors for legs
You mentioned her and Renata as parallels and honestly it makes the whole "She doesnt look her age" bit make more thematical sense, even accidentally. Camille is a Piltie who comes from power and wealth, so she can afford to artifically keep her young appearance despite being so old, with alot of her power being focused into her highly mechanical legs. While Renata comes from Zaun, she actually LOOKS older, and has the face of somebody who's seen and been through a lot, while noticeably being alot more top heavy with noticeable biceps iirc.

Camille's family name, Ferros, definitely feels like it comes from the Latin word for Iron, Ferrum, and there's even the word Ferrous in chemistry that means to contain Iron (I'm british, so maybe in america it's actually spelt without the U which makes it even more poignant) Renata's family name, Glasc, most definitely comes from the word Glass, like if it doesn't then I'd honestly be calling bullshit here Ferros and Glasc. Iron and Glass.
We need a hunched over granny support who throws you butterscotch hard candies as heals/buffs and swings her purse at you for an auto attack. Her passive could be every 30 seconds she forces the closest ally to eat a cookie and gain mana cause you know they arent eating good enough. Her homeguard is like a scooter or her walker but with flames coming out
I feel like the big thighs make sense given that her FEET ARE SWORDS. Like in order to wear high heels you need balance and leg strength depending, but swords are a whole different story. So the amount of core thigh strength she'd need just to walk or even stand up would be huge, thus making her legs bigger. Design wise too just makes a more interesting silluhette than skinner legs all the way, and adds balance to her design.

It's a relief to seeing more people than just Skyen coming out with the ''Convergence did Camille dirty''. I saw SO MANY people talking about how Convergence Camille is ''how Camille always was'' and how ''actually she's a good guy, always has been'' it really makes me weirded how people can not care about League's lore and still spread it.

From his backstory and some of his short-stories, he could be seen as a guy who changed himself for the sake of betterment, and helps other people who need them, but only if asked and in dire situations. Then from LoR and his interactions, he can be seen as a crazy weirdo who wants to turn everyone into machines regardless. Its pretty weird

There are 2 kinds of personality changes in Riot Forge games, Pyke I would say was a good change because now he's no longer just Nautilus 2, Camille instead is the opposite because she was unique and now she is just Caitlyn 2
the cutscene where she does the splits for ekko to grind over while her face is just :l actually sent me completely over the edge i couldn't stop laughing for ages
The final fight of Convergence is actually really neat on a technical level and worth playing on hard if you got close to it. Most of his attacks are counterable by some tactic or ability you have, and it feels interactive in a way you really don't get with bosses whose design is "I'm immune to everything but damage and if you damage me enough I stagger for a bit so you can damage me some more." Felt more like fighting an equal in a sense, kinda reminded me of the final fight in Transistor. Fking hard too, took me the longest to beat out of all the bosses.
I love watching these. Just sad ill have to wait rougy 2.7 years until you get to my favorite champ zilean. I wonder what will come first the casual champ review or a visual upgrade that zilean really needs
My take on Camille in Convergence is that her place was indeed supposed to be filled by Caitlyn, now it's a proper buddy-cop system with her and Ekko. However, at some point in development some execs shoehorned the whole Jynx segment (which we can all agree it's super out of place) because "Well she's Jynx and very popular so you have to put her in!", meaning that now you'd have a story with Ekko, Caitlyn and Jynx, if you make Vi be the boogieman instead of Warwick and what you have? Arcane! So in order to avoid the proximity and comparisons from fans the devs just did a skin swap and put Camille instead, but since they didn't have time to completely revamp the script the story remained the same and it didn't fit, at all. That doesn't fully exempt the devs though, Camille is probably the worst pick for the script. If they picked Zeri to fill "Caitlyn's role" it would be a better fit, not perfect but better for sure. Also, Urgot instead of Warwick would make more sense, again, not THAT MUCH, but at least I can see Urgot going after Ekko in a territorial chase, unlike Warwick.

Imagine a crossover with league of legends and capcom where the voidborn are appearing and causing problems. Imagine a high quality, realistic looking reksai/velkoz and a remodeled chogath. The hunters from rise/sunbreak already have a camille/askan grappling hook. could even get some league of legends themed weapons and armor. ashe or varus' bow, powpow or fishbones lbg/hbg, poppy hammer, etc.
I understand the disslike for Camille's handling in convergence but i also think i understand why it was done poorly. Camille is supposed to represent alot of the worst parts of piltover and her family, the genocide of the brakern was one of the biggest reasons why Camille's family and therefore Camille was evil. With the change to the lore due to skarner's rework and how it seems to be completely reworking the origin of hextech untill we learn what hextech is as far as we know hextech might just be normal rocks. This is important because this changes Camille's family from the people who straight up commited a genocide to the people who found funny blue rocks making Camille's family go from evil monsters to att worst moraly gray. I belive this is most likely why the writers of convergence wrote Camille the way they did because with the dark backstory of hextech gone Camille being completely evil kinda starts making less sense because what did she and her family do wrong when all they did was find a rock that had magic powers? The worst thing Camille therefore has going for her is her racism but with so much of the context to why her family and actions are bad gone it seems like they forgot that part of her character, Whoops. They really need to give hextech a new backstory so much of the context to piltover's story has just gone up in Flames along with alot of Champions entire point of existing. Personality while it would still not completely fix the situation I personality belive with how hextech looks in arcane the change i would go for is making hextech into void this would sadly still lead to piltover being less evil than before but it would change the reason artificial hextech was created from "we commited a genocide and have run out of thing to murder" to "oh shit oh fuck we messed with the Lovecraftian creature's and if something happens we are screwed" and that is a funny change.
Hear me out: There's been a problem where it's almost impossible to make a thematically consistent Gwen skin because you have to shoehorn her scissors in somehow. What if you had Tag-Team Luchador Gwen and she's wielding Camille as her tag-team partner! :D
Unlike most people here I think this is a correct portray of Camille, she is a perfect manipulator, it feels like she just downloaded in her brain all the correct answers of how to treat a child from the internet, and process all the data perfectly calibrating them to Ekkos ego. Why? Because a lot of people don't understand that Ekko is an unstoppable force. Imposible to kill. She tried, she failed. So she will try other angle to the problem, for now, until she understands time travel technology or how to supress it. Also, Ekko keeping her around feels so canon for him, the most anoying centrist of Zaun, he is so bored of all the boring people of Zaun and their mundane babbling, future Ekko felt like nobody undertands. Her conversation is poison. Also: they did my girl Zeri wrong, her note was so cringe it felt forcefully put in the game. About Warwick, maybe he is still in process of returning to monke, his timeline is blurry, in the prime universe he still has no reason to stop his rage. Prime Jinx will laugh when she recognizes him and prime Vi is a joke about police brutality. He does not only kill people with blood in their hands, he enters in berserk mode when he smells blood, and left no survivors. He has no moral compass, yet.
I'm gonna defend her absurdly thicc thighs because I think it gives her a unique silhouette, emphasizes her snooty strut walk cycle, and yeah I can see that they'd need to be bigger to house her tech so it does make sense from a lore perspective. It also emphasizes how thin her blades are because of the thickness contrast between her upper and lower legs. I do really wish they'd given her face at least a little visible aging though, maybe on the forehead and corners of her mouth to give her more of a furrowed brow and disapproving frown. I've always interpreted her hair as just being naturally white, since P&Z have the wildest natural hair colors, but I could be wrong. And yeah I did not care for her characterization in Convergence. I think Skyen hit the nail on the head when he said it felt like the part was meant to be played by Caitlyn but for some reason they put Camille in her place without changing the writing much.
I really love camille's stories and while convergence was kind of a blunder I really hope arcane can eventually adapt her and give some real representation for the dark side of piltover. Bonus highlight for awaken being my favorite lol cinematic in part because of her cool as hell fight with jhin
Hell Yeah! my favourite girl! Pretty sad what they did with her in convergence. She is one of the best villains in the universe, but she rarely gets used in that role. few comments on visual design and gameplay: - Yes, she doesn't look 80+, but imo that's fine. she is essentially a high-society cyborg, and as such it makes sense that her face would be an immaculate mask. The thighs are a bit stupid, but at least they serve a purpose (grappling hook and to emphasize how strong her legs are). - her gameplay is about 50% the reason why I like her. Bricky touches on a lot of points in his video. Something I personally really enjoy is the power that comes with her insane mobility and the way how her laning phase feels like a dance. The delays on her Q and W add a certain rythm to her trading patterns, and there is a lot of potential for mind-games and jukes in her E and Ultimate. Its pretty sad that she can only be played top. If Camille didn't exist I wouldn't touch that role at all. My personal favourite is support Camille. She plays a bit like Leona, with more mobility and pick-potential. Sadly that playstyle isn't really possible, since you can't build both Iceborn Gauntlet and Locket anymore.
Seeing Camille being defeated by Ekko (not even the old version, the KID version) was already a red flag for me, Camille is like the batman of Piltover, that woman have a knack for schemes and countermeasures without mercy who she have to take down, seeing her taking Ekko so casually without any intent of killing him later on or even breaking the Z-Drive was the weirdest thing ever in Convergence for me.
I clearly remember Camilles launch since I was really hyped for her release but then it was delayed by 2 weeks I think, took that time to replay pokemon Y.
I'm wondering if Camille's cold calculating side saw Ekko, Future Ekko, and calculated the best way to bring him over to Piltover. Y'know, based on how much he could bring to Piltover.
I think Orianna is also a great foil for Camille, Camille has augmented herself for the power and status of her and her family, while Orianna became more mechanical because she was helping the others and her heart is the only thing that remains.
Tbh i was excited for it as I am a massive fan of the piltover and zaun lore (before arcane) but as I played through it. It was slightly disssapointing that camille was so out of character. Compared to Warwick and jinx being in place and how their part is told its not so bad but camille is definitely the worse part, shes definitely not like that towards ekko or any zaunites. Don't get me wrong it was still a great game but yeah tb skyen already explained it perfectly
I get that turn based strategy isn't everyone's cup of tea (it's not mine either), but if you are willing to give it a shot, I greatly recommend ruined king. Not only for the beautiful artstyle, but there's a lot of things that really are nice to see. I've seen a yasuo cutscene with him and yone (before yone turned into an edgelord) and the ruined king dlc skins are better than the ruined skins we got. In my opinion (also 69- Nice)
One thing about her gameplay is that she has become way less fun to play since tiamat and hydras active removal. It's like it was part of her kit with how well it used to fits, but she feels really imcomplete since season 11 and lack the satisfaction of before (the addition of divine didn't help either). I really miss old Camille playstyle...
Honestly, I love Camille's design, her abilities although not amazing are pretty creative, and her backstory is cool, even though there are a lot of better ones, in general I would probably give her a 8/10 too

Camille was a bit oddly humane in convergence, but I don’t think it was too big of a deal because she has shown skight sincerity in her lore when she kneeled down gently towards a young little girl who was deathly sick, and helped Hakim’s nephew knowing pain she caused to BURN his life’s work aways and help him back up when he was brutally attacked. But she’s still cold blooded, calculated and I guess you can say… benevolently malevolent! She’s an antihero who upholds her covert and strategic expediency through heartless executions in her operations. It’s her job. She even called herself a “murderous saviour” and “dark protector.”
If your concern is playing camille mid instead top just run HoB its alot of early game burst and snowballs you hard and rush essence reaver then take bork its giga fun
With them re-writing how hextech came to be, couldn't they just make Arcane canon? Arcane happened around "the birth of hextech" and was actually one of the major plot points.
There is a couple of words we use in spanish to refer old ladies that are ill-intended or just a pain in the ass to deal with, and those are "vieja piruja". That's what Camille is, but that's what makes her a great villain. Convergence fucked it up on the story department and that's a shame. I hope song of nunu doesn't do the same :S

I don't have a problem with camille's hair because the reason why hair turns white is because of a lack of pigment and as we age our bodies stop producing pigments but getting older isn't the only way people's hair turns white some people are born without this pigment or develops something that causes their bodies to not produce the pigment, so what likely happened is that because camile replaced various parts of her body, that made so that her body stoped producing the hair pigment
I don’t really think Convergence’s story is anything worth losing sleep over due to how self-contained it is. The plot essentially begins and ends in the same place, so it could just as easily not be canon if it ends up not being ideal for the story the ultimately want to tell. I viewed it as more so an exercise in worldbuilding rather than as anything that moved any major story forward.
Camille’s and Renata’s roles in game just reinforces their thematic juxtaposition of them both, and their allegiances. Camille’s in the TOP lane - Piltover = TOPsider Renata’s in the BOT lane - Zaun = BOTsider

I agree that we really need an old lady champion, but Camille being ageless and statuesque kind of adds to her design, it kind of makes her creepy and alien. The thighs were a weird touch though, giving her a dancers physique would gotten the point across more.
Now this is absolute cope but I’ve never had a problem with Camille looking young. She’s still the matriarch character and you get that from her personality, the way she talks the way she walks and carries herself. Her not having wrinkles and instead having this porcelain doll like face always gave me this uncanny feeling. I love Camille design personally and as much as I would love to have older women champions I don’t think it would make much sense for Camille to physically look old.

I actually really like Camille in Convergence. I see her kindness as calculated and manipulative. Syntixi (and Future Ekko) pose a major threat to Piltover and Clan Ferros. Future Ekko intended to wipe out the clan's hextech stores, which would be a brutal hit to their power. It's important to recognize that Ekko, even kid Ekko, is among the most powerful beings in Runeterra. He can rewind time endlessly until he wins, like he did against her, and Camille realizes that beating Ekko or Future Ekko herself is impossible. It makes sense to present herself as an ally because having him as an enemy is way worse. Camille couldn't even get past Future Ekko's barrier at the clocktower, and was rendered essentially helpless. If kid Ekko didn't beat future Ekko, there was no other way to stop him. This is a big spoiler if you haven't beat the game. Future Ekko gains the ability travel not just across time, but between UNIVERSES. As in, he can travel to the Project or Star Guardian universe, for instance. He pretty much transcends canon itself, which is a testament to how vital it is to get this kid on her good side.
I think in converge they treated Camille the worst by far compared to all the other champions. Ekko was great and everything he did felt in character. It feels like jinx shouldn't be in it but at least they got her personality right. You could argue that warwick attacked ekko because of future ekko and it was meant to be forshadowing that future ekko is evil but camile? She feels like a differend character

I think the idea of Camille’s white hair is to look like those fancy British wigs from colonial times to connect Camille with aristocracy

That doesn't fully exempt the devs though, Camille is probably the worst pick for the script. If they picked Zeri to fill "Caitlyn's role" it would be a better fit, not perfect but better for sure. Also, Urgot instead of Warwick would make more sense, again, not THAT MUCH, but at least I can see Urgot going after Ekko in a territorial chase, unlike Warwick.
Warwick's chase would have made sense if he somehow mixed Ekko's scent with his future version.

I understand the disslike for Camille's handling in convergence but i also think i understand why it was done poorly. Camille is supposed to represent alot of the worst parts of piltover and her family, the genocide of the brakern was one of the biggest reasons why Camille's family and therefore Camille was evil. With the change to the lore due to skarner's rework and how it seems to be completely reworking the origin of hextech untill we learn what hextech is as far as we know hextech might just be normal rocks. This is important because this changes Camille's family from the people who straight up commited a genocide to the people who found funny blue rocks making Camille's family go from evil monsters to att worst moraly gray.
I belive this is most likely why the writers of convergence wrote Camille the way they did because with the dark backstory of hextech gone Camille being completely evil kinda starts making less sense because what did she and her family do wrong when all they did was find a rock that had magic powers? The worst thing Camille therefore has going for her is her racism but with so much of the context to why her family and actions are bad gone it seems like they forgot that part of her character, Whoops.
They really need to give hextech a new backstory so much of the context to piltover's story has just gone up in Flames along with alot of Champions entire point of existing. Personality while it would still not completely fix the situation I personality belive with how hextech looks in arcane the change i would go for is making hextech into void this would sadly still lead to piltover being less evil than before but it would change the reason artificial hextech was created from "we commited a genocide and have run out of thing to murder" to "oh shit oh fuck we messed with the Lovecraftian creature's and if something happens we are screwed" and that is a funny change.

Unlike most people here I think this is a correct portray of Camille, she is a perfect manipulator, it feels like she just downloaded in her brain all the correct answers of how to treat a child from the internet, and process all the data perfectly calibrating them to Ekkos ego. Why? Because a lot of people don't understand that Ekko is an unstoppable force. Imposible to kill. She tried, she failed. So she will try other angle to the problem, for now, until she understands time travel technology or how to supress it.
Also, Ekko keeping her around feels so canon for him, the most anoying centrist of Zaun, he is so bored of all the boring people of Zaun and their mundane babbling, future Ekko felt like nobody undertands. Her conversation is poison.
Also: they did my girl Zeri wrong, her note was so cringe it felt forcefully put in the game.
About Warwick, maybe he is still in process of returning to monke, his timeline is blurry, in the prime universe he still has no reason to stop his rage. Prime Jinx will laugh when she recognizes him and prime Vi is a joke about police brutality. He does not only kill people with blood in their hands, he enters in berserk mode when he smells blood, and left no survivors. He has no moral compass, yet.

I'm gonna defend her absurdly thicc thighs because I think it gives her a unique silhouette, emphasizes her snooty strut walk cycle, and yeah I can see that they'd need to be bigger to house her tech so it does make sense from a lore perspective. It also emphasizes how thin her blades are because of the thickness contrast between her upper and lower legs. I do really wish they'd given her face at least a little visible aging though, maybe on the forehead and corners of her mouth to give her more of a furrowed brow and disapproving frown. I've always interpreted her hair as just being naturally white, since P&Z have the wildest natural hair colors, but I could be wrong.
And yeah I did not care for her characterization in Convergence. I think Skyen hit the nail on the head when he said it felt like the part was meant to be played by Caitlyn but for some reason they put Camille in her place without changing the writing much.
I really love camille's stories and while convergence was kind of a blunder I really hope arcane can eventually adapt her and give some real representation for the dark side of piltover.

Hell Yeah! my favourite girl! Pretty sad what they did with her in convergence. She is one of the best villains in the universe, but she rarely gets used in that role.
few comments on visual design and gameplay:
- Yes, she doesn't look 80+, but imo that's fine. she is essentially a high-society cyborg, and as such it makes sense that her face would be an immaculate mask. The thighs are a bit stupid, but at least they serve a purpose (grappling hook and to emphasize how strong her legs are).
- her gameplay is about 50% the reason why I like her. Bricky touches on a lot of points in his video. Something I personally really enjoy is the power that comes with her insane mobility and the way how her laning phase feels like a dance. The delays on her Q and W add a certain rythm to her trading patterns, and there is a lot of potential for mind-games and jukes in her E and Ultimate. Its pretty sad that she can only be played top. If Camille didn't exist I wouldn't touch that role at all. My personal favourite is support Camille. She plays a bit like Leona, with more mobility and pick-potential. Sadly that playstyle isn't really possible, since you can't build both Iceborn Gauntlet and Locket anymore.
Seeing Camille being defeated by Ekko (not even the old version, the KID version) was already a red flag for me, Camille is like the batman of Piltover, that woman have a knack for schemes and countermeasures without mercy who she have to take down, seeing her taking Ekko so casually without any intent of killing him later on or even breaking the Z-Drive was the weirdest thing ever in Convergence for me.
I clearly remember Camilles launch since I was really hyped for her release but then it was delayed by 2 weeks I think, took that time to replay pokemon Y.

I think Orianna is also a great foil for Camille, Camille has augmented herself for the power and status of her and her family, while Orianna became more mechanical because she was helping the others and her heart is the only thing that remains.
Tbh i was excited for it as I am a massive fan of the piltover and zaun lore (before arcane) but as I played through it. It was slightly disssapointing that camille was so out of character. Compared to Warwick and jinx being in place and how their part is told its not so bad but camille is definitely the worse part, shes definitely not like that towards ekko or any zaunites. Don't get me wrong it was still a great game but yeah tb skyen already explained it perfectly

Not only for the beautiful artstyle, but there's a lot of things that really are nice to see. I've seen a yasuo cutscene with him and yone (before yone turned into an edgelord) and the ruined king dlc skins are better than the ruined skins we got. In my opinion (also 69- Nice)

One thing about her gameplay is that she has become way less fun to play since tiamat and hydras active removal. It's like it was part of her kit with how well it used to fits, but she feels really imcomplete since season 11 and lack the satisfaction of before (the addition of divine didn't help either). I really miss old Camille playstyle...

Camille was a bit oddly humane in convergence, but I don’t think it was too big of a deal because she has shown skight sincerity in her lore when she kneeled down gently towards a young little girl who was deathly sick, and helped Hakim’s nephew knowing pain she caused to BURN his life’s work aways and help him back up when he was brutally attacked.
But she’s still cold blooded, calculated and I guess you can say… benevolently malevolent! She’s an antihero who upholds her covert and strategic expediency through heartless executions in her operations. It’s her job. She even called herself a “murderous saviour” and “dark protector.”
If your concern is playing camille mid instead top just run HoB its alot of early game burst and snowballs you hard and rush essence reaver then take bork its giga fun

With them re-writing how hextech came to be, couldn't they just make Arcane canon? Arcane happened around "the birth of hextech" and was actually one of the major plot points.
There is a couple of words we use in spanish to refer old ladies that are ill-intended or just a pain in the ass to deal with, and those are "vieja piruja". That's what Camille is, but that's what makes her a great villain.

I don't have a problem with camille's hair because the reason why hair turns white is because of a lack of pigment and as we age our bodies stop producing pigments but getting older isn't the only way people's hair turns white some people are born without this pigment or develops something that causes their bodies to not produce the pigment, so what likely happened is that because camile replaced various parts of her body, that made so that her body stoped producing the hair pigment
I don’t really think Convergence’s story is anything worth losing sleep over due to how self-contained it is. The plot essentially begins and ends in the same place, so it could just as easily not be canon if it ends up not being ideal for the story the ultimately want to tell. I viewed it as more so an exercise in worldbuilding rather than as anything that moved any major story forward.
Camille’s and Renata’s roles in game just reinforces their thematic juxtaposition of them both, and their allegiances.

I agree that we really need an old lady champion, but Camille being ageless and statuesque kind of adds to her design, it kind of makes her creepy and alien. The thighs were a weird touch though, giving her a dancers physique would gotten the point across more.

Now this is absolute cope but I’ve never had a problem with Camille looking young. She’s still the matriarch character and you get that from her personality, the way she talks the way she walks and carries herself. Her not having wrinkles and instead having this porcelain doll like face always gave me this uncanny feeling. I love Camille design personally and as much as I would love to have older women champions I don’t think it would make much sense for Camille to physically look old.

I actually really like Camille in Convergence. I see her kindness as calculated and manipulative. Syntixi (and Future Ekko) pose a major threat to Piltover and Clan Ferros. Future Ekko intended to wipe out the clan's hextech stores, which would be a brutal hit to their power. It's important to recognize that Ekko, even kid Ekko, is among the most powerful beings in Runeterra. He can rewind time endlessly until he wins, like he did against her, and Camille realizes that beating Ekko or Future Ekko herself is impossible. It makes sense to present herself as an ally because having him as an enemy is way worse. Camille couldn't even get past Future Ekko's barrier at the clocktower, and was rendered essentially helpless. If kid Ekko didn't beat future Ekko, there was no other way to stop him.
This is a big spoiler if you haven't beat the game. Future Ekko gains the ability travel not just across time, but between UNIVERSES. As in, he can travel to the Project or Star Guardian universe, for instance. He pretty much transcends canon itself, which is a testament to how vital it is to get this kid on her good side.
