The Gundam Barbatos belongs to a group of 72 "Gundam" frames created during the Calamity War, which occurred roughly 300 years ago. After being retrieved, the Chryse Guard Security used it as a power source. However, since the cockpit was missing, they installed a new cockpit that resembled the one used by the CGS mobile workers before deploying it with the 3rd Group. The Barbatos' armor and full combat capabilities were degraded due to centuries of poor maintenance after the Calamity War. However, Teiwaz technicians were able to restore the Barbatos to its original appearance and performance, which was close to its original level.
Gundam units, such as the Barbatos, are equipped with two Ahab Reactors that allow them to achieve high energy output. Due to the difficulty of operating them in parallel, only 72 Gundam frames were ever produced. The high output and maneuverability of these units can cause a significant burden on the pilot, but this is mitigated by the implementation of Inertial Control, which uses Ahab Particles generated from the reactor to regulate movement during phase transitions within the vacuum device. The cockpit is positioned in front of the reactor to take advantage of this effect. Compared to other Gundam frames, the Barbatos has been designed for versatility and can adapt to any situation by swapping out its equipment. Additionally, it can utilize weapons and armor from defeated enemies to enhance its combat capabilities.
