I just installed the short shift lever on my e39 530i. Your video was very easy to follow and very complete. It made the job straight forward. Thank you very much!
A Bimmer tuner lied to me. I was informed that it would take 4 hours to install the short shifter kit and they would have to drop the transmission. Thank you for your DIY video!
This also applies to any 5 speed E39. You can get a short shifter from eBay, the bottom hole will need drilling out a little bit. This is incase you wanted a threaded gear knob :)
Some say that only 545i lever is short and some say that every e60 no matter what the engine is, has the same gear lever. How is it really? I've found a few of them for sale but all of them come from 2.0d or 2.0i.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my account password. I love any help you can give me!
@Julian Jackson i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Principle is the same, but you’ll have to do your own research as there are different length shift levers as standard on various chassis across the range.
Hi. I purchased the jacks a few years ago and had them custom made ("Off the shelf" ones were available) to take the extra weight of the E39 as opposed to the lighter weight of smaller cars they were originally designed for.
“This can be done with relative ease, without removing the exhaust” thats all i need to hear, gonna go buy one now 😂

Excellent video, very clear and informative. I've just used it to swap out a horrific short shifter, back to standard with all new linkages. Cheers!

Love your videos, but they are sorta dark at times. Can you buy a magnetic led light? 🍻

Great video...thanks for that last tip on the linkage joint
Hello, @Paul Simon, i have noticed your ramps/jacks under front wheels, did you buy it or its homemade? interested in making my own like yours ramps.

I love your videos man.
madman440 cheers - good to know folk enjoy them 👍👍
Where did you purchase this
Is it supposed to make that noise when you change gears ?
The sound like a rifle bolt? Yes.
