  • Lissa Rankin, MD, is a New York Times bestselling author of multiple books including Mind Over Medicine, a physician, speaker, founder of the Whole Health Medicine Institute and the nonprofit Heal At Last, and mystic. Lissa has starred in two national public television specials, her TEDx Talks have been viewed over 4 million times, and she leads workshops both online and at retreat centers like Esalen, 1440 Multiversity, Omega, and Kripalu.
    In this podcast, Dr. Rankin speaks with Sounds True founder, Tami Simon, about her new book, Sacred Medicine: A Doctor's Quest to Unravel the Mysteries of Healing. Their conversation explores: the placebo effect and the mega-placebo effect; the scientific method and some assumptions we should question; the relationship between trauma, the nervous system, and healing; connectivity and co-regulation; developmental trauma, or what Mark Epstein calls "the trauma of everyday life"; the concept of spiritual bypassing; chronic inflammation as a root cause of many diseases; the paradoxes of healing; our four "intelligences"-mental, somatic, intuitive, and emotional-and what to do when they "disagree"; Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and working with the polarized parts within ourselves; healing the collective; and more.

    Great to hear you again. I heard you like 10 years ago and you brought me hope. I always wondered if you change your perspective on illness and great to see you have remained consistent in your message.

    *5 Ways To Raise Your Vibration:*
    1. When emotions are high, intelligence is low. Make decisions with balanced emotions.
    2. Before raising your vibrations, practice techniques like self love, gratitude and dance.
    3. Place your hands on your heart and remember all the things you're grateful for.
    4. Play some amazing music and get your body moving and when you feel the joy but your mind is a chaos.
    5. To calm your mind, take a deep breath keep on practicing and then set your intentions or wishes with the highest vibration.

    14:44 - If people are bonded through love... if one person has a miracle cure the others will resonate/benefit from that and more would heal (than if they had been separated). This is totally feasible and I think it's a brilliant hypothesis!!

    I agree that trauma is on top of the causes of body's dis-ease but when it comes to healing, I think it's really an individual curriculum. There are some that are fully healed even without conventional intervention, some have mix treatment, some are purely intuitive or spiritual. But I look on persons that are really in their old age and doesn't have any sickness at all like Eckhart, Deepak and others. That is the goal, to transcend all the traumas and reach the level of no more fear of illness. It is a life long process and challenges though. Thank you.

    loved this one,loved her critique of the scientific method and what she said about the double blind studies with placebo,fascinating..just goes to show how warped and unreliable some of these so called evidenced based tests are.

    When conventional medicine embraces the whole person and what was discussed in this interview, more people will be free. Our current system is a cattle drive for profit.

    The ‘mega placebo’ description is a corporate business for wealthier people, cheap to run as it is vegetarian, walk in gardens, and people mainly meditate. Could be a Fortune 500. Instead, all churches of the future should offer this, and bring your own food.

    Very interesting, and I would say "sounds true!"
    The many complex factors which cause trauma can only be understood by the individual.
    You lost me when you started talking about "white privilege," and the trauma experienced by "black and brown bodies in the United States." This current fad is doing a massive disservice to black and brown people. The amount of discourse on this *_real factor_* is grossly out of proportion to its actual effects. Race intersects so many other, more common and better understood sources of disease that you can't possibly untangle race and say it is a primary source of trauma or disease.
    It's a fad and science knows better. Follow the science!
    I can't listen anymore.

  • @tammiearrata3679
    @tammiearrata3679 2 роки тому +2

    As soon as she mentioned white privileged it became clear her words are not healing but rather divisive. Labeling is the beginning of ego, the start of pain and suffering. I listened with an open mind, excited to learn. Thankfully my “awareness” radar is on point and picked up on misguided methods. When people understand that nothing outside of ourselves is responsible for the way we feel they will begin the process of healing.

    • @tammiearrata3679
      @tammiearrata3679 2 роки тому

      I should mention that her observation of trauma and illness is 💯 accurate. The mind is both a healer and enabler of disease.
