THE PRESENT TENSE
The indicative is the most common and frequent verbal mood. It's used to indicate a fact, an action or an idea that are real, certain and objective.
Let's discover together how to form the present tense!
First of all, let's see the present indicative of the verbs "essere" and "avere", the very first verbs to know when studying a language, also because they act as auxiliaries to form the compound tenses of other verbs (in this video you’ll find out in which cases we use the auxiliary "essere" and in which cases the auxiliary "avere": learnamo.com/e... )

What happens to other verbs? It depends on their ending in the infinitive! In Italian there are 3 different endings: -ARE, -ERE, -IRE. The present is formed by removing these endings of the infinitive and adding those of the present indicative.
Here are the endings of the present for the various groups of verbs:

N.B. If the verb ends in -NERE, it will always follow the conjugation of "tenere", that is adding the g to the 1st singular person and the 3rd person plural!
What happens to verbs in -IRE? In the present indicative, verbs can follow the conjugation of the verb "partire" or that of the verb "finire":

But how do I know if a verb follows the conjugation of one or the other?
Unfortunately there isn’t a perfect rule, but only a "tendency" that is almost always right (even if there are some exceptions!!!).
Starting from the last letter of the verb in the infinitive, count to 5. The letter you stop on is...
A consonant? Then the verb tends to follow ththe conjugation of "partire"
A vowel? Then the verb tends to follow th conjugation of "finire"
Examples:
Dormire → io dormo… / Riempire → io riempio…
Sparire → io sparisco… / Preferire → io preferisco…
Dorme sempre dalle 23 alle 8, infatti è sempre riposato.
Preferiscono parlare di persona piuttosto che chattare sui social.

Avere, in portoghese (Haver), hai sempre un senso di esistenza, mai di possesso. Per indicare possesso, usiamo il verbo tenere (Ter).
Come è questa questione in italiano?
Per indicare esistenza, in italiano si usa "esserci"
C'è un bicchiere sul tavolo (singolare)
Ci sono due pizze (plurale)
Per indicare possesso, si usa "avere"
"Ho una macchina rossa"
"Tenere" in italiano può essere tradotto al inglese come "to hold"
"Tieni il mio zaino per favore"="Hold my backpack please".
"Tenere" anche può essere tradotto come "to keep"
"Non mi serve, puoi tenerlo"="I don't need it, you can keep it"
"Tieni la porta aperta"="Keep the door open"

I can’t believe they don’t have idea about teaching( most of videos of teaching context) dear, teachers somebody who is looking for verb ‘do’ is a beginner, it mean she/he has not basic knowledge of Italian language. How it come in your mind that we can understand grammar in Italian than we don’t know even simply verb do. Speak English dear, if you are looking for views. Absolutely nonsense
English is not the universal language: there are many people out there that do not know the first thing about English. The majority of our videos, however, have Italian and English subtitles (and, as if it weren’t good enough, you can always read the written explanation on our website). We really believe that the only way to learn a foreign language is to surround yourself with the language you are learning: it requires more effort, but in the long term the results are guaranteed. So, we are sorry that you don’t like our videos, but we won’t teach in English anytime soon.
Everybody is proud of her/his language there is no point but English in international language all over the world ( you accept in your country or not) what do it mean for learners, it opens the door to the wide world, so you can learn and discover everything through the English. Me as a teacher with tons of experience does not understand the context making the video of the basic verb ( usually we teach verb do to students first day we enter the class) 'Fare' who does not understand a single word in Italian . I have a question, for whom do you make the video? or for whom do you try to teach fare ? definitely it is not for foreigners who wish to learn. maybe it for Italians, who do not know the Italian, people who speak different language in your country like venetian. (by the way venezian is great language )
We see your point, that’s why we’ve been adding English subtitles to all of our videos! Take our videos about CI ( ua-cam.com/video/QnRIumrACog/v-deo.html ) and NE ( ua-cam.com/video/OzeaRByHhtA/v-deo.html ) as an example: they have already been subtitled in 3 languages (Italian, English and Spanish). Our videos are for all people who want to learn the Italian language and culture. Using English as a “go-between” will prevent many people who do not know anything about English from understanding our video-lessons.
P.S. We both (Rocco and Graziana) have a degree in foreign languages, so we have some experience and knowledge when it comes to learning and teaching foreign languages.

I could not really understand what do you mean! have you ever heard about second language learner ? That is the point there are tons of teaching styles and methodologies modern world of teaching use. do you really thing that, beginners must use advance lever of language in the class, when they have no idea of language at all. That's so sad that somewhere is the earth, people still believe in it
