Nice vid Charlie, can't wait for the Empire faction breakdown! Imo Empire has always had more distinct strengths and exploitable weaknesses (mainly fighters/bombers) and their abilities require you to take more high-risk maneuvers. Their ships are more specialized and fragile than NR and if you don't have the correct ships for a certain engagement you should look to withdraw and regroup.
I enjoy the focus on fleet composition, you need to balance heavy mon calamari cruisers as shields, bothan and sullustian cruisers as assault ships, and ships like quasars and nebulous for screen. The empire is more of a “spam victory’s and ISD’s” strategy
I enjoy playing the New Republic for their wonderful selection of specialized ships. Although many NR ships feel niche compared to Imperial ones, in Skirmish I always feel like I have a solid selection of ships throughout each tech level. I always have a tool for the job. That being said, I am not a fan of the over-reliance at some points on Starfighter superiority. It seems somewhat easily countered by a bunch of corvettes or just raw TIE swarms. In large engagements, the comparatively low damage of Republic cruisers against Imp ones coupled with the lack of point-defense makes them vulnerable to losing the initiative quickly.
Gotta say the love is with the mc80 home one type ships just awesome. I don't like not having the capture ships in the mod right now in GC. Won't play it till it's back.
Like: many unique ships, sometimes a blend of rebel and imperial designs Dislikes: Main one (in galactic conquest) is that your holdings start out extremely scattered, making you vulnerable pretty mich everywhere until you consolidate your southern and eastern regions.
the only thing i dont like about the new republic is their territory is too spread out, and their ground units are kind of... soft. their space units are so much better. but like i said, their too spread out. and its difficult to defend the territories. in one of my campaigns im playing the Empire of the Hand, and ive conquered half the galaxy, with no struggle.
New Republic fleet is more compact, means can concentrate large forces with large fire power in small area and easily kill ISD one by one. And I dont like that main strategy concept of EaW "Imperial use carriers, rebel use fighters by themselves" was changed. I dont like that large fighter spam too, cause it makes my game to slowing down.
I dislike how they steal the show in later eras. Prime example is the Majestic class, cheaper than cruisers, yet brings that level of firepower to the battle if used wisely they can help route overwhelming odds, without having to spend massive amounts of credits and time to pump out dreadnought classes like most Imperial factions. That said it does make sense as they become the dominant power in later eras.
Like: the ships and focus on fighters and I actually like to micro manage. Dislike: how you don’t have control of era progression and it can end up where you are fighting warlords in the end game and not the empire...
I like them because they have amazing fighters and smaller capital ships I don't like them because they don't have anything between mainline capital ships and the viscount, as I like a powerful centrepiece for my fleet such as a bellator/allegiance, also because of their scattered territories which makes it hard to keep up even a medium-sized fleet early-game Edit: yes I know about the home one variant but I find that it's weak for its size on both ends

The one thing I like about the new republic is the feeling you get as you progress eras and you become stronger and get stronger ships

I like that the new republic has decent firepower, but dislike that most of their ships seem to be relatively weak
I'd like to see the space battles look more like or at least similar to homeworld, just more of a 3d feel to it

The main solution for that is to target the warlords that are doing the most damage to the empire, then the empire will be able to survive.
